My Note 2 is running 55009. I read on S4GRU that only 24009 and 25009 are capable of connecting to the 800MHZ band 10. Was wondering if people could check what version of the Sprint PRL they were using and if different than 55009 could post their version and location. I'm in Chicago.
To check your PRL go to Settings->About device->Status

How can you tell if or when you connect to 800mhz band 10?
I would be on 55009 but im running 24006, otherwise I dont get signal where I live. Let me know if you need the link.
Hmmm, starting to see a trend here with the 55009. I haven't tracked down 25009 (nor do I know if I'd be brave enough to try it) but I do wonder how the GN2 would do on that PRL.

I use the CDMA field test app and look at the SID if it is 4 digits and I believe 4xxx it means you are on 1900(Band 1) and if it is 224xx it means 800(Band 10). You could also dial ##DEBUG# and type in code 777468 and choose 1x Engineering RF. Band 1 would be 1900Mhz and Band 10 would be 800Mhz.
Here is a good thread that details info on 800SMR.

I've tried to locate a download for this PRL, then I'd try applying one the myriad of other PRLs I've stumbled upon.
Anybody have a 55009 PRL they can share, or know where it can be found?

the best ones to use for our phones tend to be in the 56xxx series as they allow both 1900 and 800 mhz. this thread has much better information. and the procedure is the same for the GN2.

Do you know where one might acquire a stock/55009 PRL as backup "just in case"?

Hey guys I'm sitting at campus waiting to do my Fasfa and I decided to do a speed test. I know tmo is releasing lte in Providence rhode Island but I didn't think it was this early

That looks like HSPA to me. Speeds are consistent with HSDPA and short of typical HSUPA. That and your signal indicator shows H+.
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement
What kind of speeds did you pull before? I live in Reno and I get speeds like that- and we do not have LTE yet.
I usually pull 5 never anything above 15-20
Is there another way to test for lte

I can't believe you are getting speeds like that in LA- I took a trip to Irvine a few months ago and couldn't get more than 3mbs. I am so used to the speeds in Reno that range from 9mbs-19mbs consistently, I was so frustrated! How entitled we are now. I remember when 1.5mbs was FAST! I can't wait to try out true LTE, already my data speeds are faster on "4g" than my WiFi connection at home.
At home my data is usually always 7mbps-15mbps.. This past week it's been horrible at home. At about 40kbps...
At work and everywhere else it's fine, but once I get home it's horrible! Even 2 miles away from my house, it's fine.
I called tmobile and they filed a ticket to look into the tower but could take up to 10 days.
Anyone have any ideas?

Depending on where u live ur tower by ur house can be old and not updated so it slower or it can be a borrowed tower. The one by ur job must be in a city which they update first. For me the new lte modem sucks I went back to the old modem. It is more reliable.

I get horrible speeds as well and always have. I live in in a crowded area....Brooklyn, New York
Also, it's not like I'm underground or hidden from the outside world, I'm sitting right next to a window in a 6 story building. I've honestly had enough of t-mobile.. they always mess up my contract and have such ****ty speeds in my area. Not to mention, they directly lie to you over the phone and barely keep any promises. Oh and New York being one of the biggest cities isn't even one of the LTE cities that was upgraded. Sorry for this rant but I'm just kinda pissed with TMO.
Does anyone know if I can somehow check if my phone is set on the right antenna?

Yes a big difference. I mostly use WiFi tho when out cause I have WiFi hot spots every place by me. But the lte modem is use less by me till lte is around here.
Use the old apn if you're having issues. There's already a thread on this. Search for it.
I have a feeling the new apn is speed limited so when lte fully rolls out the hspa network isn't overloaded. Most people don't notice a difference between 8mbps and 11mbps. Which was my difference. But if your difference is between 3-5mbps and 55kbps then it's probably a tower issue as well.

If you're in a refarmed market just manually select the 1900 band as AWS might be too crowded. I have to do the same when I'm at my house as on AWS I get 500kbps while on 1900 I get no less than 12mbps

No. The T-Mobile version, T-889, is a dual cell phone capable of supporting 42.2 Mbps data transfer. The AT&T version, i-317, is not and is limited to 21.1 Mbps. However the i-317 is capable of using more than one LTE band whereas the T-889 is limited to just one.

No, you can flash other carriers roms. The thing is you have to make damn sure what you're flashing isn't gonna brick you. From a software standpoint all Note 2's are the same, for the most part. You have to be careful not to flash another carriers modem or you'll have no signal. If that happens just flash an AT&T modem and you're good. The kernel is pretty much the same. There might be some minor differences but nothing to worry about. Just read read read. All the info is in the OP, and if it's not just ask in that thread.

You can flash tmobile roms no problem. You'll also have access to wifi calling if you're carrier is tmobile. I'm using my at&t note 2 on tmobile. Lte and h+ on either carriers roms.

I would totally care but sprint doesn't seem to care about the Denver area. Theres wimax in like a 10 block radius and promises for years we'd get more.... Now they're switching to lte and more promises but for the last 3 years its always been their sucky 3g

Same here in Salt Lake. Sucky/spotty 4g. No LTE in sight.
But at least I'm paying for someone to have lte. Cuz it sure ain't me.

Phoenix is the same way. Promises after promises. Now it doesn't look like we get even basic 4g for years yet. Stuck with 3g on the maybe eventually network.

VA area near TN, Pretty good 4g with a chance of LTE every now and again.
Hate to say it but I do miss Verizon service.

You can manually write whatever PRL you want with DFS CDMA Tool & a PC, regardless of which ROM you're on.

you have a link for that program? Would be pretty cool I'd we had someone fix the CDMA tools app or make us an easy "one click" sprint prl/profile updater.. If there is one already phase forgive the noobness....

To be able to connect to DFS you need to have DIAG mode enabled, and its only available in Stock roms and ASOP

I was in SLC last month and had solid 4g in the neighborhood above the capitol. Didn't go too far from there so I can't speak to other areas.
I've literally traveled all over America due to being in a touring metal band, and I can honestly say that 1. Sprint's service ****ing SUCKS ****. And 2. 4G LTE is extremely spotty. Luckily at home here in Baltimore I have 4G all over, but anywhere other than the east coast, you're lucky to get LTE. I had great service when I was in Denver earlier this summer, but no 4G whatsoever if I recall correctly (And I don't, because Colorado is a... "Medical" state. )

You must have been in the 20 ft circle of 4g coverage.

I lol'ed at the your description of how Sprint's service sucks...especially since I generally agree. But down here in Dallas, I get pretty great LTE coverage. I think because we were one of the first markets to launch LTE. In some places in town I get 30MB+ download speed so I cant complain. But in the outskirts of town and suburbs...it isnt nearly that good but I'll still usually be able to connect to LTE.

I've got to take care of a couple things this morning, but when I'm done (probably about 2 hours) I'll post a full write-up.

I flashed a stock rom to get the updated PRL. Looks good. What's different about it?
Also, I get pretty decent 4G coverage in Houston, Texas with Sprint, even out to the suburbs on the north side. It's not nearly as fast as the service I had with verizon, though, but it is at least consistent.
Once you get past the city limits on the east or south, though, both 3G and 4G get iffy.
I have awsome Sprint Airave coverage at home.
I hope someone makes a app like RoamControl that works with our Optimus G so my phone will work outside of my house.
