[Q]NEW and i NEED HELP with Calkulin's EViO 2 v1.7.7 and read all the guides

hey guys im sooooo confused gah!
ok so i need help
first of all i have Calkulin's EViO 2 v1.7.7 from here ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=745205 )
and i need a little help
first of all how do i properly turn my phone off
because i have the rom and if i turn it off the regular way it says in the htc screen and i have to redo the rom
second i need help enabling the search button
i know its in the zip but HOW do i install it
can i change the app screen (with all the apps) to scroll down instead of scrolling sideways
and...and....and the info bar thats on the top that tells you the signal and notifications dont work

It sounds like you need to re flash your rom. Did you wipe before flashing it? Go into clock work or amonra and wipe data cache and delvick 3x then flash the rom. Down load the zip for the search button and flash that through recovery like you did the rom and you should be set.

did you try restoring your nandroid? do you still have power off issues with that rom? if not then reflash your rom. wipe data, cache, dalvik. this should fix your power off button. and you ALWAYS do that when flashing a new rom.
to enable the search button, you FLASH that zip the same way you did a ROM.

kk i will retry and which zip to enable search can i get a link? and can i do it at seperate times

edit: i'm not sure if i made this clear enough, really no offense i just sort of had that sitting on my desktop begging to be sent...
i'd reflash the rom if i were you, doing a full wipe. how exactly did you root?

with what zip?

there is a zip at the bottom of caulkin's op called default buttons or something. that'll be it

yep. once its copied onto your rom you can delete the zip.

gah sorry im such a noob how bout an app for tethering?

either wireless tether from market (green wifi icon) or caulkin unlocked stock one for use on 3g (not 4g, u need wireless tether app for that)

now you dont have to answer this but does anyone know a good music widget
maybe 2x4 with play,pause,back and foward and maybe album cover

default htc widget? it has full screen and 2x4 versions

yea but i cant find it on the phone

long press on open space. choose widgets. select music (there are two, one by htc and one by android. select the htc one. i think it is the top one) then slide left one and there should be the 2x4 one.

oh yes sorry i know that ive tried that but i cant fint it at all on my phone even doing that

[Q] Wont update?

I have a Wildfire and I have recently got rid of all my root/rom etc,
Completley wiped it and put it back to factory.
Now I have waited a month of two for the updates to come as its still on 2.2.1 which is how I got it when I bought the phone, but I would prefer it to be on the latest version.
How can I sort this? Any ideas? When I had the phone rooted and I got rid of the rom the update came up within two days, It would not download properly due to the root and now everything is back to normal the update just isn't coming!
it's a bit silly these things just being "over air" why don't they have a download link?!

Yeah but I used to have the latest version where the unlock would be a swipe to the right and you could change from silent to loud by swiping to the left and it was all updated and look fancier.
Now It has the old version where you swipe down to unlock etc.

The latest version that you are thinking is not official update by HTC. It is the customised pure Android with/without additions.
The last official update for wildfire by Htc is 2.2.1

Your new "update" was actually a Custom ROM. What you are seeing now is what you should be seeing on an official unrooted ROM

But I am 99% sure I had the update before I had the root and rom.
it wanted to update when it was rooted and had no rom on it, so thought it would update again once i'd cleared the root.
Maybe it was just when I had rooted it then.

ROM, Yes, getting that lockscreen on the Stock ROM is possible, but, without root, no. (I am not including 3rd party lockscreen apps here)

Also installing a lock screen on a stock ROM will not change the notification bar. The notification bar in the latest one you are thinking is not the stock one. So mostly it is custom ROM unless you have messed up with the notification bar too.

They were just examples of what I was trying to explain I found on the internet.
Must have been when I rooted the phone I guess. Was a better interface but the Rom has so many niggles I couldn't handle it, oh well.

Red "F"

I dont know how, but a red F has appeared at my screen, and dont know how to removed it, has anyone had the same problem? any idea how to remove it? (is it a malware/virus? is it from an application ?)

Is it only on your lockscreen, or always visible?

if i remove lockscreen(disable pattern) is always, with lockscreen it remains at lockscreen

Never saw something like this. Did it occur out of the blue or after flashing a ROM?
(judging from your non-stock battery icon I take assume you're on a custom ROM)

it just appeared, also i did a full clean new rom flash(wiped everything), but i restored my data (only the data from my apps/apk) and when someone called me,it appeared again,its weird

Does it happen on stock ROM/kernel?

i have the stock kernel, my rom is stock,just deoxeded

In that case I don't have any advice I'm afraid. I even googled it because I never saw something like it, doesn't yield any useful info. Could be some samsung driver causing Android to display this red f, but that's just speculation.
If it remains, I'd return to factory images, relock the bootloader and claim warranty.

yeah, i googled it too,and couldnt find a single post, the only reasonably thing is that it may be a virus or something, and it came back with the data restore, i cant think of something else, thank you for your time though

you have an app doing that.

Try going through each of your backed up apps, to see if you can find the app that's causing this.

i killed each running app in the backround, and i found it, its an app named "Android lost" , never had a problem with it, dont know why it just happended (also it had long to time to do an update, so to say that was something in the update)
weird.

Did you flash the gapps from the pa thread? You have to have those for all that stuff to work. Make sure its the PA gapps because they've made some changes to them, somehow.

Yes i did, i flashed the latest gapps(20130209) which provide in the thread.

I'm not sure then, you might have to reflash everything. I don't know what else to try. I've never had that particular issue. Was it a dirty flash over another version? I'd make a backup, do a clean install, and see if the problem is still there. Worst case, if it is still there, you can restore your backup. If not, then maybe the install had a brain fart. Have you tried reflashing PA and gapps and wipe cache and dalvik on this install? (Sorry if I'm rambling, I'm half asleep)

It doesnt look like you are connected to any network at all. Your wifi and signal icons are greyed out. Thats why you are getting that message.

That's true, I hadn't noticed that. OP, can you go online at all, like with the browser?

Does it go online with a cellular connection or just wifi? Check Settings>About Phone>Status>IMEI and see what the number is. I don't know why, but that was the first thing I though when I reread this thread is that maybe you've had your EFS partition wiped. I "think" if it's a real IMEI it will start with a 3, but a generic unusable one will start with a 1. I don't know if that would affect Google Connection, but it might.
Also, have you tried redownloading the ROM and GAPPS?

Did you set correct Date & Time settings? Cuz it's important to log in GG account.

Grey means connected, blue is connected to the Google servers. The OP has a connection just not to Google

Help: Bootloop and Setup 4.2.2 Multiable Roms.

I have a backup for 2.3.0 LiquidSmooth that works fine and reboots and everything.
I change a few settings such as:
-Overclock to 1350
-Change voicemail number
-Change Ringtones
-Edit the Navring
-Change the Alpha of the status and nav bar to 100%
-Update a few Data Apps from the market.
-Turn off Drymatic tiles.
-Set an Alarm
-And a few other tweaks I cant remember.
Then All of a sudden I try to Reboot and Bootloop (Ive waited 10 minutes before pulling the battery) Then I restore my backup and try the changes again and it does the exact same thing but if I dont make those changes it works fine.
Can someone Please explain to me what is going on. Im not stupid I have flashed many roms before but never seen something this strange where I dont even change the /system folder and it bootloops

I have restored just the /data floder with CMR and it booted up fine so it has to be soemthing in the /data folder
The phone works 100% on other roms
I have been trouble shooting for a few hours with no luck please help.
I have 7GB left in storage and the /system folder has 374mb left.

About 2 days later after This happened I decided to Try a different 4.2.2 ASOP rom, Axiom by DroidTh3ory. And after I got done setting it up the same thing happened D: Please help me.

Might not be the answer your looking for but i think its the overclock thats bootlooping your phone, might be a rouge app :-S i can't really say i havn't experienced anything like this before

Okay I will try it again and do everything expect overclock and let you know if it happens again. My phone used to be able to handle 1350 mhz
Also does flashing a new kernel Reset the Clock Values in the system Data?

I did a full wipe before Each one but I restored some data files for The live wallpaper,Homescreen, and Widgets when I flashed but It rebooted fine after that. It wasnt till I got to fine tuning my settings that I got a bootloop.

Hmm... you restored the backup and installed the kernel directly without rebooting? if your talking about trickstermod in data then i think yea it should reset someone knowing better than me can comment but as far as i know trickstermod can detect different kernels and it resets when you do flash a diff. kernel
Full wipes also an option when all else fails

Im talking about the Perforance controls built into roms settings now a days. All I do is bump it up to 1350 mHz I dont change kernels I just move the slider xD. For all these test Im on the kernels that come in the rom (Lean for Liquid not sure aobut Axiom though)
I just tested. I changed the Overclock value to 1350 mHz on my backup then rebooted so that isnt it.
Does anyone know of any Rouge apps that cause Bootloop problems after thier settings are changed or any settings in AOKP that cause bootloops

I know right I have never had anything like this before I just restored my old rom but flashed a new kernel and it seems to be booting (Rebuilding davlik right now) but I dont know if that will fix it. I think having a phone that is almost 2 years old is really weighing down on the software.

Hope it works, sorry couldnt help that much.. you should try a flash install i know it's gonna be time consuming and a little work but it'll be worth it in the end
