I have just recently purchased the galaxy note II and I'm starting to hear an annoying noise pop every 5 seconds if I have sound on. It usually happens when you press an application, type, go back, and press the menu button. Is this happening to other people or is it just me? You usually hear it in a silence place.

I've had the phone just over a month and not had any experience of this problem.

Go to settings and under sound option disable keypad tones and touch tones. This will help you I think.

It happens when i listen to audio or during a phone call too.
I returned the phone to the warranty provider they told me the next android update will fix this issue?

Usually, as in 'not always'? that's weird, can't be the touch sounds feedback then. Better return it, I've been lurking the forum lot lately and haven't read anything like it, I don't think a sw update will just fix it.

I'm running the Deodexed EF02 ROM and every coulple days I'm on a call and it drops and the dial tone sound immediately follows.
Anybody else having this issue or know why I'm having it?
I've had this happen before but its been more of a random thing. It's happened to me randomly on different android versions so I can't narrow anything down. The interesting thing about hearing a dial tone is that even in this day and age our modern networks are still sitting on top of ma' bells original framework. Just a thought.
I've had this issue when my ear hits the "add call" button. I guess until I start running a ROM that shuts off the screen when I'm on a call, I'll have to use the new iPhone motto, "Hold Differently".

That makes sense. And lmao about the "Hold Differently" thing!
I found a clicking sound when I tap the phone on the top.
I have figured that it might be because of the camera lens,
because when I open the camera app and focus on something close the noise is gone.
I had the same noise with my nexus s but not as loud and clear as this phone.
Please anyone check if you have the same noise,
Thanks
Nope.

I have noticed random clicks when using the phone that sound like the camera lens or shutter. Probably some software bug
I noticed some clicking and realized it was the volume rocker. Hold the volume rocker and then tap the phone. the clicking stops on mine. I read around that the GSM Versions have a tighter volume rocker while the LTE models have the loose clicking one.
Settings-->Sounds-->Touch Sounds?
I turned them off because the sound wasn't always in sync with the actual screen touch. In fact, it was way out of sync far more often than not.

After reading the OP i started taping my screen and heard a slight click noise when i got up near top left quadrant of the screen. After reading this quoted post, the clicking noise is definitely the volume rocker for me.
I've never noticed it before and its not a big deal for me
Eh. Normal. I get it on my gnex. Had it on my n1.

Same here. It is definitely the camera...
Yea, its definitely the camera. Mine is somewhat annoying, whenever I set the phone down it makes a rattle sound, if I take my case off and tap around the camera it makes the sound. If I open the camera app and do it, its even worse. After opening/closing the app it gets better. Must be something with the shutter/lens in the Phone... Not sure if its on all devices or if we got a bad batch?
Its not the camera. That's the part of the phone that cause yur phone to vibrate via text or phone call ect, ect.....I noticed it a few years ago with my BB.

i dont have a clicking noise when tapping the top of the phone, but have noticed that my back cover is making a clicking noise. when i tap it, it seems to indent (piece of sh*t plastic, nexus one was hands down the best quality phone i've ever owned)
Loving the phone...can't wait for JB....
Right now, running stock AT&T ROM...I'm got a few issues / bugs to report...wondered if anyone else sees these or knows a fix:
1. The notification sound for Calendar reminders can't be changed. It lets me pick a new / custom sound but it does not save the setting. Everytime I go back in it is back to the default.
2. Incoming calls - often as soon as I grab the phone (usually from my pocket but sometimes when it was just sitting on a table) the call is rejected as if I bumped something to do this. Only the phone is locked and I did not hit any buttons. I really doubt I keep hitting the red reject slider and sliding it across the phone accidently....not sure what is going on.
3. Texts - they seem to not come thru sometimes and I also rarely hear the notification or feel the vibration.
Anyone else having these issues?
Bump

1. Are you pressing the "OK" button (next to the "cancel" button) on the calendar ring tone selection screen? I've confused myself and pressed the "back" softkey, which wasn't lit up, since it was below the "OK" button thinking i was pressing ok (or because I often unthinkingly default to pressing back to exit a screen). Otherwise this should be working, if it really isn't saving you have a buggy device...
2. I've only had the phone a few days and picking up calls has been no problem (stock rom, not rooted yet).
3. I feel you on the text alerts, but i get them on time and get a vibration just not the default vibration "tone" i selected. Generally late text messages aren't an issue with the phone more likely the provider, but your two issues above may indicate the device is at fault.
I can't change my notification sound on calendar either. I called Samsung and they said to hard reset. I guess their tech support is just as useless as Motorola's. I wish I could be that lazy at my job; "well customer I see you have a problem, have you tried putting it back in the box and pulling i back out? That's all I can recommend."
Thanks...

Definitely hitting okay....it shows the correct ring tone....but when I go back into settings it is gone.
Answering calls is getting better....disabled the motion controls and some other things to make it hard to accidently reject the call.
We'll See...

Hoping Samsung's Jelly Bean release fixes these issues....or maybe a patch release or two after JB. If not, I will try CM10 or a JB-based AOKP build when they get a little more polished.
This issue is fixed in the latest ATT OTA update http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31801294#post31801294
Thanks!

Thanks for point this out! I had forgotten about it! The fix seems to have worked for me. Would be nice if all undocumented fixes like this were in one neat bullet-ed list for us to review....
Nah, then Samsung would have to acknowledge that they told a bunch of gullable people to factory reset for nothing
Strange issue. My note 2 has made the same lock sound when I press the power button to lock my screen (camera click sound) since day 1. Today it changed... it now makes a sorta chime when pressed to lock and a more musical chime when I swipe to unlock. Looked everywhere and cant figure it out. This is driving me crazy as ive had the phone for 2 years and changed nothing in my end.
Any help is appreciated....thanks in advance!

if you change the lock-unlock effect (ink/light etc.) sound changes.

Thanks. Tried that. No luck. Either the chime or water noise or nothing. Cant get the "camera shutter" sound that was the only sound for past 2 years.

If your phone is rooted, try install Xposed and play with modules. Maybe turn shutter sound on/off return right sound
Please could someone help me with finding the call settings on marshmallow. I don't like how the phone goes blank right after I place a call. Is there any way to change these on the 5x

i was over in the nexus help forums , and apparently after the nexus 5 got the 6.0 update the phones screen would go black after a call and stay off till 10 seconds or so after the call ended.
I am having this issue on my 5x. Wish it would get solved.
Are you guys talking about while on speakerphone? Does it turn off again after pressing the power button?

Im talking about when making a phone call, the screen goes off and does not return until 10 seconds after the call is ended. For it to work properly the screen should go off when around your ear or head, and when it is not it comes back on. The proximity sensor on the phone is to blame., Hopefully a software update will fix it.
