nevermind found out for those who also need this info
settings-wireless and netoworks-more settings-mobile networksaccess
So you were able to backup and restore your apn settings there?
You can jot them down from there and manually input them as need which is what I prefer, but if you want an app to do it for you...

There's an app called APN BACKUP in market.

So what ive heard , since I havent upgraded to ics yet is that apn backup and restore will not work as on ics 3rd party apps are blocked from changing apn settings , I found on the market something called "apn setting shortcut " its not a widget or a app just a shortcut to your apn settings , I need to be sure my apns can be fixed after going to ics , as im on boost mobile and dont want to break my mms . so can someone running it please try and change apn settings with this and see if they stick , I would really appriciate it I just want to verify that it will work before I give myself a huge headache

Getting to the settings is not his issue. Its what happens after you change them and reboot.
Give me a little bit, I'll test for you.
//edit.. The app will not even run. Starts with an error that it is incompatible. No go with that one.
2- Manually setting up the APN settings should work. I'm not by the computer, so looking up settings to input is a no go, so i can't verify it sticks. But the menu has not changed, except for visually.

Has anyone tried manually editing them with apn settings shortcut ? You dont have to use real ones just change them and reboot to see if they stick and then if they did change them back

I'm on metropcs using an incredible and tried to manually write the apn and couldn't get it working. Incredible almost has a fully functional ICS and I can't use it because I lose mms. If you find a solution please let me know. Thanks
If its any help, u can access the apn settings on cm9 and aokp just as u could on the gb roms. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't stick seeing as YOU'RE the one changing the settings and not a 3rd party.

You can edit the apn settings located at system/etc/apns-conf.xml (can be edited with root explorer) but you must delete data/data/com.androids.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db and data/data/com.androids.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db-journal (or you could just wipe data.)
I've been having the same problems with mms n my, 3g i used any cut to change the apn to the boostmobile settings but my 3g wouldn't work n my mms would only receive n send text but pictures would not send or receive.. This only happens with ICS ROMS... I READ SOMEWHERE THAT YOU CAN CALL BOOSTMOBILE N ASK THEM FOR THERE APN SETTINGS BUT YOU HAVE TO B A USTOMER
No 3G on Boost with all ICS Roms
someone please post once you can get the epic 4g touch working on ICS while on Boost Mobile. I also have the same issue and cannot figure out why any ICS rom doesnt have a working 3G/Data while on Boost.
I just found this post on using setdns and ics works on boost !!

You can do it in the programming menu. It's been so long since I've done this for friends, I'd have to research it myself for awhile. On the ROM I'm running I can go to settings>more>mobile settings>access point names.

Hey Noon guy here. Did you ever get the setting/APN you where looking for? If so, could you please help me with my Galaxy Nexus LTE-Sprint. I am having trouble getting OTA to go through. I thinking if I set the APN it may possibly activate over the air.

Try the update.
your lte settings are still wrong you know that right? and some of those carriers dont use sprint network... so your network numeric is also wrong, oh yea and stealing someone elses script and just changing the names is not cool. while we do appreciate you working out the mms addresses for other carriers giving credit where credit is due is a must and there is more to it than that

I ported my phone to straight talk from sprint and my data is working but the speeds are very slow. Straight talk told me to manually enter APN settings they provided me but it's not where it is supposed to be under the mobile networks settings. LG support told me it should be there and if it's not that Sprint has removed, hidden or disabled it. Does anyone know how to access APN settings on this phone?

I'm not sure because Ive never had to do it on this phone. I know Sprint has removed/hidden/disabled it. Certain 3rd party messaging apps will allow you to change the apn settings but I dont think it's system wide. I'm not by my phone currently so I cant test this right now but we do have a hidden menu. From your phone dial 3845#*970# to access the hidden menu.
If apn settings aren't in there you could always try a different rom. You would have to be rooted and unlocked with a custom recovery but most of them will allow you to change the apn settings. If you go that route, head over to the original development section for our phone and read the root guide by engine95 found there VERY CAREFULLY. Sorry if this isn't much help but like I said, Ive never had to do this because I'm still on Sprint Stock.
I tried some apps but they don't work on android 4+ they say and I've tried some secret menus with no success. Can't remember if I tried that one or not. Ill check real quick. I am rooted but I've been hesitant to switch Rome since stock works so well but I may have to look into it. Can anyone recommend a hassle free rom?

Yeah I was worried it wouldnt be in there. Most roms have some slight issues, I prefer stock myself and have been modifying it manually. Cyanogenmod 10.2 is probably your best bet though. It's based on Android 4.3, CM 11 is 4.4 based and mostly smooth but still not labeled as stable.
EDIT: Just make sure you make a full backup of what you have now in TWRP. I'd use TWRP 2.5.0.0 btw. Backup all partitions so if something goes wrong you can restore it back. And follow the install directions for CM precisely. Good luck!
try thisOffline SIM APN Database Otherwise consider using a custom rom or even a stock variant.
I'm not sure that database will help me since Sprint is cdma, but also I already have the correct apn settings from straight talk. My phone just doesn't doesn't have the option to input them thanks to Sprint. Cell providers really need to stop locking people in at this point. If your services were good and your price was competitive then people would stay with you, without the gimmicks. Sorry to rant I'm just really sick of all the cat and mouse games of unlocking a phone. I think I probably will just use a custom rom since my phone won't have anymore limitations after that, but that is still more work than I wanted to do just to change apn settings. Thanks for the feedback guys!

I have heard of other apps not having much luck with changing apn settings for us. Even tho I dont currently need it, thanks for the heads up!
It didn't change it for me. It said ICS or later prevents it but it did allow me to open the menu which was good enough for me. Still having a problem where after a reboot it keeps creating the sprint apn after I delete it but I figure that's baked into this stock rom somehow. Prob still be switching roms but I will play with it some more. It also keeps trying to reactivate on sprint but I was glad to at least see the menu. If it were not for some clever sprint engineers that app would have worked perfectly.
