[Q] Q about mobile hotspot - HTC One V

hello all
i currently have an optimus v and a nexus 7 that i can tether to the v. i switched to an optimus elite for a while, but it would only broadcast an adhoc signal that the nexus doesn't recognize (i tried the bluetooth tether but that isn't an ideal solution). i got my old v back but it is sluggish and showing its age especially after using the elite, and i'm now looking at a one v as my next phone. i need to know if the hotspot is adhoc or infrastructure before i pull the trigger. any help would be much appreciated.

Skygo no go...

Hi all, to those that use the skygo app. It is unsupported atm. Just as I got the hang of using a UK VPN to get if working on my sg2 as well
Hopefully this can be sorted soon by our hard working devs when they get into full swing

Yeah I wouldn't get too excited about having SkyGo working on your One X just yet, considering barely any places even say its released and this is Sky we are dealing with..
Wouldn't the one from the Samsung galaxy nexus work?

This is really sad as one of the reasons I upgraded my contract for this phone is so I could watch my Sky F1 when I'm out and about. Guess i'm screwed now.

Was working fine on my sg2 with stock ics. Just needs a small mod by someone in the know then it'll work I'm sure. Here's hoping.

Very true. I don't understand why they couldn't release software that is compatible with all gingerbread phones in the first place... But I have no knowledge of the ins and outs

Seems to install ok, but just sticks at loading when i tap watch.
Have temp unrooted the rom using supersu, but maybe it's still seeing the SU?
Anyone tried on a non-rooted device?

Doesn't work either, I get this message now which I've never seen. I'm using a vpn so should show as though I'm in the UK...
I can't even connect to my vpn via data, only wifi! Stupid phone

Just tested with my stock rom and everything works good until it reaches the part where I click watch and then it just gets stuck at Loading and then after about 30 seconds it restarts the Skygo app.
This is using the the provided on the link on page 1
Sky have always been incredibly paranoid about data encryption, and they have a lot riding on it with the actual owners of the content they provide. Limiting support to a handful of Gingerbread-based phones that are big sellers (S2, Desire, etc) and trying their hardest to prevent it running on any rooted Android device ensures they won't end up providing free Sky Sports to Orange customers who stick the APK on a rooted Google TV and show football in a pub - or worse, manage to decrypt the stream and throw access open to the wider world.
It sucks, but I can understand the slow rollout. When ICS numbers get above the current 3%, and when the One X proves to be a big seller over the next few months, I'm sure we'll be supported.
Just on this a thought I had is sky will never release it for one x.reason being they all ready block it working with HDMI out,but I don't see how they could block WiFi out to the media link so far that reason is be suprised if they updated it for the one x

Just a heads up, official SkyGo app for HTC One X now available on play store. As detailed on Techradar.com.
Doesn't work with rooted phones though!

This section is purely for development.
tethering is a common issue for ICS ROMs, read the OP if each ROM nearly all of them say that tethering is broken.

It's been a while since we hijack a thread
Go on over to the themes and apps thread. You'll know what I'm talking about once you see it.
Edit: Just saw that you already know what I'm talking about.

None of the Rom mention this bug, and no user report this bug as well. That's the reason I m putting up this thread to check if its only my windows or it happens to everyone

Hello, on my HTC One V (native android 4.0.3 - 2.08.401.2), I have exactly the same behaviour (reboot) when navigating through hotspot wifi ONLY from WIN7 x64!
None of this with another HTC desire S (native Android 2.3.5 - 2.10.401.8)
Swaping the SIM cards (difference providers) keep the same issue on the HTC one V

No - if BT is on there is no deep sleep in CM9
Issue is related to to fact that the code in CM cannot do it right now
compared to stock one which is properitary and cannot be used in CM
Blame HTC that they dont open their source for that part
Bluetooth and CM9
Had the same problem with my old HTC Wildfire S which was running CM7.2 and was fixed so the possibility exists to do it in CM9 too.
anyhow it would be interested to find out how it was fixed for the wildfire s

Well -I need the sources and not a kernel image
Maybe you will able to get them from the one which published those binaries, since it should not be different. anyhow your work is terrific and as embedded programmer i understand your work.

I have already looked at some of those "solutions" but they cannot
be applied 1:1 to our case
The main problem is that we need to use brcm_patchram_plus to load the BT firmware
but the --enable-lpm flag which "should" allow the deep sleep is not
working with the bcm4330 firmware. I dont know the exact reason right now
and have never looked into more detail into it so far
Worth Figuring Out
Well it is worth figuring out since all of us which are using car kit via Bluetooth which is in many countries part of the laws it is a must have other wise the entire car kit is obsolete.
if you guys will have some time to address that issue it would be very appropriated by the One V users, since with your CM9 rom and Titanoim Kiss kernel the beast is flying.

Think I have enough feedback to make it official
So the fix is working and will be included in the next
KISS kernel release
BTW: Just to note it here again
This is only an issue for NON stock ROM users!
And also: This has nothing to do with this issue
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889711
I am still working on that.

EDIT: Buid with this fix released

Thanks to all the testers who helped
Hi,

[Q] Enable Ad-Hoc wireless support on Galaxy Nexus

I'd like to connect my Galaxy Nexus to an AdHoc WiFi on my Macbook Pro. Is this somehow possible? I'm currently on the latest ParanoidAndroid JB rom.

yeah I didn't find anything with my friend google so please be more specific here!
You need to modify a system file. As far as I'm aware of, cm10 does not allow the gnex to connect to a adhoc network.
Beamed from my Grouper.
bumping this. any way to connect a GNex to an ad-hoc network?

[Q] Good rom for tethering/hotspot

I am going to spain for a week and I'm trying to figure out how to get cheap internet. My idea is to buy a sim at a local shop and use my old Desire as a hotspot.
Any tips on what would be the best rom for this? It doesn't need to be the latest android release, it just has to be stable and support the hotspot functionality. I remember having various roms that had trouble with this.
There is nothing like best rom
