So I ordered the charger from Amazon and it only cost me $32 shipped. It has both USB charging with included cable or AC with foldaway prongs. The battery goes onto a charging plate then attaches to the charger. Ta da! And using the USB I can charge my phone at the same time
Oops... kinda might help to mention it's for the gnex. The charging plate takes both standard and 2100mAh batteries.

Here's a pic of it. The cable at the bottom goes to my phone to charge simultaneously or with a USB to USB standard cable can power from the computer. The battery is on a charging plate which is removable. Plus it has a shut off so the battery is never over charged
Sourcerized, Milestoned, just missing the Cheetos and Redbull. Sourcery FTW Keep the Magic alive!!
So after a week of using this I've got to say I'm immensely pleased. The charge time from 0% on the spare 2100mAh is the same as charging my phone at the same time, a little under an hour. So I can have a full spare and full phone battery in no time

Hello all. New member to your forum but a Senior techie here. For anyone having the issue with the car charger not keeping up with the discharge of the battery, the problem is that car chargers make the Nitro think it is plugged into a PC's USB port. When this happens, the internal regulator only allows about half of the chargers current to charge the battery. The AC wall charger has pins 2&3 shorted which tells the Nitro it's plugged into an AC charger and allow full current from the charger.
I have a USB cable adapter I made with pins 2&3 shorted that I tested and have the results in the below images. With the Nitro plugged directly into the car charger without my custom adapter (pins 2&3 shorted) you can see in the first image the battery status is listed as "Charging (USB)". Doing nothing more than keeping the screen on for 5 minutes, you can see in the second image, that the battery charger was not able to raise the battery level at all from 39%. I then plugged in my shorted adapter between the phone and the same car charger and the battery status changed to "Charging (AC)" as you can see in the third image. I performed the same test and this time the same car charger was able to raise the battery from 39% to 43% in 5 minutes, again with the screen kept on as shown in the fourth image.
There are threads on this board under other phones about the USB Car charging issue and how to make a shorted cable. I would however recommend taking an extra cable and soldering together the conductors for pins 2&3 (usually white and green) instead of just using a piece of foil as others have done in the past. Just remember, the shorted cable can only be used for charging, not data syncing. Happy modding...
Hey guys, I know this is kind of a dead thread, but...
Can anyone confirm that the cable at:
(mobile.brando.com/brando-workshop-usb-to-micro-usb-cable_p04980c0704d003.html)
will work to "A/C" charge my nitro HD. It seems from looking around on the forums that it will, but I have never seen a confirmation.
Here's another option too... Name brand (Motorola) vehicle rapid-charger for only $5 !!!
http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Vehi...CA/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1323890013&sr=8-14
Rated at 950mA and there's customer review confirmation that this charger will show up as "Charging A/C". I just bought 2.
Thanks Namuna - you've been popping up all over this forum huh!
Anyway, I decided to go with the brando cable. I really hope it works as expected, otherwise I'll be using a janky electrical-taped hacked up wire. Or order a mini-micro adapter...
That Brando cable looks fine, I'd be all over it too if it were cheaper.
As to be being all over this Forum?...HELL YEAH! I like backing the sleeper/underdog. When the Nexus One first came out by no means was it a "hit", but it sure as hell was a sleeper/underdog! Now though, the Galaxy Nexus is going to be the me-too phone so I didn't go that route.
The upside of the brando cable is that it has a switch to make it a data cable or a charging cable. So I can keep it with me and decide to either charge slowly or quickly.

Don't forget, the cable can only put through, what the adapter it's plugged into provides. If the adapter is rated =<500mA output then the extra features of the cable are a moot point.
I had the Car Dock for my Nexus One, that monster was rated at 2A! Believe me when I say that phone got HOT when you were doing Nav with it plugged it!...Now THAT'S a rapid charger! A 10min ride to the store (while phone idle, screen off) and that thing would top-off my phone that was at 75%.
I have this car USB adapter.
The top port is rated at 2.1 amps so as to be able to charge an Ipad.
I'm prepared
Nice find red_solo_cup.
I gotta get me one of those
My phone battery usually lasts till the evening and dies while driving back from work lol.
has anyone found any of the chargers (square ones with purple etc light)
that plug into the wall and hold 1 battery in them that work.
All the ones i've tried only charge to 88 or so percent.
thanks
Although my post offers you no solace as to which charging dock will charge GSIII batteries to full capacity, I"m pleased to finally learn that I"m not alone. I've ordered a charging dock from ebay that will be arriving no later than Thursday. Its 34.99 and comes with an original battery much like the OEM charging dock. I'll check it out and give you some feedback on it's performance.
I'm also looking for a cheap external battery wall charger.
Something like this.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-Battery...-S-3-SIII-i9300-US-AU-EU-UK-Pin-/251082870040
Will that work or am I at decent risk that it'll stop charging at 88% like the OP?
Any other suggestions? Is the battery the same size as the battery used for the S2 or any other phones so that I can use a wall charger made for a different phone (since this phone is new, maybe accessories haven't fully ramped up yet).

I'm guessing you woold have similar results unless you have the international I9300.
This dock looks perfect. Case compatible, data sync, mhl support and spare battery charger. Looks really solid too. Anyone have any experience with Kidigi products?

It's on Ebay for $23.

OK, I was a little skeptical up until he pulled out the little cradle to allow for docking the S3 with a case on... I love that design. That sold me right there.
Nice find. Ordered placed. Needed a new charger for my QCell anyways.Hopefully it actually fully charges my backups... lol
Just ordered one as well. Had one for my Note and really liked it. Too bad it doesn't work with my S3.
Thanks OP!

really? a dock that doesn't provide 1000mA to the phone? sad.
(also i doubt they have MHL ability.. because that does not look like an 11 pin connector. they are slightly different to reach the MHL pins.)

On the youtube video, the ac adapter is shown, and the writing says it is 1500mA. I think it only provides 500ma to the spare batt charger, if it is like other spare batt chargers I have seen. 500mA for the phone will barely keep up with general use. I would be interested to see what real world use is for charge times both in phone and spare battery.
Its a damn good dock, just ordered of amazon for £15 inc P&P which works out £5 cheaper than mobilefun and if you want next day (1-2days) its just under £20 so still cheaper. 500A is not an issue for me as i only plan to keep the phone docked (compared to leaving the phone flat not charging) so not too bothered about the charge but do like the idea of it being able to charge a spare battery.
So does that mean that the dock can output only 500 mA or that the charger that comes with it can only output that much? Can't we just use our stock charger that outputs 1000 mA with the dock or is that not how it works?

According to the specs, no matter what adapter you use (theirs is 1500mah) you only get 500.

Well, that's a bummer. That means double the charging time?

Find out when it arrives i guess, but it realy doesnt effect me much if it takes longer to charge aslong as it charges both to 100%. I get through a whole day easily enough and ill be using this to charge overnight as I sleep so.
Mine should be getting here on Friday so I'll post a review once I put it through its paces.
I ordered a white one couple days ago too. Be here any day now. Will let u know too

Looks like mine is getting here a day early so I'll get it sometime today.
I wasn't expecting to receive mine until tomorrow, but it arrived today.
I'm unable to take any pics atm, but when I get my backup phone back from my buddy tomorrow night Ill be able too. He needed an unlocked phone for his trip to Israel so I loaned him my POS Focus.
For now I will say that my GS3 with a Gimmick Five Triobump BARELY fits, but it does fit and charges fine. The bottom curvature with the little slot removed is just slightly off from the curve of the bumper. I can slide the phone with case in and with a little pressure it sits perfectly, however if you move the dock around too much the device will be pushed up ever so slightly causing it to disconnect from the USB port. A light tap on the top of the phone and it'll sit right again.
Ill find out tonight how well it actually charges my phone since it was already at 100% when I received the dock. Now as for the battery compartment in the back, it stopped charging my QCell 2300 @90% sadly. Ill see if this trend continues after a few charge cycles. /crosses fingers
The content of my package consisted of the dock itself, a us DC adapter and 1 USB-micro cable not 2 and the dock only has 1 micro USB port so you have to choose to connect to the DC adapter or to your PC not both unless I'm really stupid and overlooked a 2nd port. I was under the impression that I would be able to have the dock plugged in with the DC charger while also running a USB from the dock to a PC or other device for syncing. Nope, Guess not...
I don't have much more to say at the moment. Gimme a couple days with it and we'll see.

I got mine today too, like you I was surprised there wasn't another usb port, but looking at the youtube video there really is only one port. My spare battery also stopped charging at around 93%, I think it may be due to the protection circuit in there. In terms of charging, I had it plugged in with usb and it charged my s3 from 40% to 100% in about 2 hours, but bearing in mind that I was also charging another battery in the second slot. I think charge times are good given that the USB max is 500mA, the thing I am wondering about is that the ac adaptor that comes with it has a output of 1500mA (even 500mA more than the samsung supplied one), I haven't tested it as both my batteries are full atm but ill let you know whether the charging via ac adaptor reduces the charge time by a third.
Interestingly enough, my phone now sits in the dock PERFECTLY with the triobump on. It sit in there nice and snug. Doesn't pop loose anymore if I jostle it around. Very nice
Just for reference, took about 50min to bring my QCell 2300 from 61% to fully charged using the DC adapter. No secondary battery chargin.Just the phone. Not a very heavy battery use day today. I was actually busy at work... lmao

Same here. Just charged my phone from 41% to 100% in about 2 hours. I can live with that. Don't have a spare battery yet so I haven't had a chance to try that out yet. And the my S3 with a Cruzerlite TPU case fits perfectly in the cradle.
I'm using the stock S3 AC adapter and usb cable btw.
just to let everyone know, charging with the supplied ac adaptor is 2.5x faster than using usb, the only issue being is that the supplied usb cable is a bit short, so ill have to buy a bigger one

By "supplied ac adapter", you mean the one that came with the Kidigi dock right? Can't you just plug the S3 usb cable into that?

compact and powerful best describes this must have for cell phone/mp3/camera ect. owner who wants to have a "extra battery" in the palm of there hand. first off shipping was very fast and on time and product was securely shipped and inside box was the 3200mAh unit, a short usb cable and a easy to read owners manual in 4 languages. also i liked that box contained a warranty card and powerbank has 18 month coverage which i though was very nice to know. the units lipstick size (3.46x0.88x0.88in) is perfect for the pocket or in your purse for the women and the units power source comes from LG AA Grade Li-ion 18650 battery cells and that is a big factor for me to have trusted/tested batteries. the unit has a blue led that flashes while unit is being charged and turn steady blue when unit is fully charged. i charged my galaxy S4 from 2% to full and still had a charge left in the powerbank to charge my camera from 6% to full. when connecting a device to powerbank the blue led lights up to show connection then light turns off which i like if charging at night or somewhere you don't want a blue led lighting up. i must say this is a very well constructed, very compact powerbank for under $20 its well worth its weight in gold and it really is a must have unit for on the go.

Ha, I use 18650 batteries in my e-Cig. 3200mAh would only charge my Note 3 once, maybe. I use a 16,000mAH unit with five outputs and a flashlight. I can charge my phone, camera, headset, watch, and e-Cig all at once. I can do it while the charger is plugged in too, in case there is only one power outlet.

I carry an extra OEM battery in its small carry case in my pocket when I think I might need it around town. The biggie is for plane, bus, train, and hotels where few or no outlets are available.
power
I have a Zen Power bank 2600mAh. Works great for a plain ride, or such. Not the biggest battery but its nice to have som extra power in your pocket when there so output close by.
for me best is xiaomi bank 10.000
I plan on trying to take advantage of the promotional offer for an extra battery. However my phone is in an Otterbox case and the inconvenience of having to open each time to use a spare battery makes a juice pack more attractive.
Anyone doing this and if so what brand are you using and what has been your experience? Thx!
I have an Anker Astro 3 12000mHa battery pack. I use it with my wireless charger(LG) and I get 3 full charges from around 5% It works fine but in hindsight I would have been better getting a battery pack with an on/off switch so that I could leave the wireless charger plugged into it all the time, the Astro 3 only needs to be moved to turn it on so if I leave the charger plugged into it without the phone connected it will remain on.
When charging the phone with it(not using the wireless charger) I plug the phone into the chargers smart port and it charges at 1% every 1 minute 25 seconds so not much slower than when plug into the wall charger that came with the phone which charges the G3 at 1% every 55 seconds.
It comes with a mesh carry bag and a short cable to charge your phone, to charge the pack it takes about 6 hours or more and it doesn't come with a charger but I just use the G3 charger.
