To all the veterans out there.... - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

To all of you who are serving and have served. I want to say thank you to you and your families. Both of you make the ultimate sacrifice by serving our country and fighting for our rights. To the soldiers/sailors with boots on the ground, or families at home seperated from loved ones holding the world together, I give thanks. Be sure to thank a service member today, and everyday, but please thank their families as well.
I have been on both sides as a member and as one with the loved one deployed. Both are equally as difficult.
With many thanks,
AE2(AW)Loudermilk "Milk"- US Navy -Retired. Served 1998-2011. Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom x2 (Global War on Terrorism)
Yes I know im late. But had to say something. (was spending day with my service member yesterday. My beautiful wife)

Thank you for your service.. and as a military spouse you serve just as much, if not more in some cases.

I agree. Military spouse/family is alot harder then actually serving. Some dont understand what we as active duty put them through and what they endure while we are away. Transitioning to the other side of it all shows ya. And thanks for your service.

Guys, XDA is a global community focused on smartphone-related matters. There are people here from outside the US as well. Now the whole idea of celebrating 'serving your country' might sound all nice to you guys, but to many people from other parts of the world, it will sound like 'celebrating blindly following orders given by your superiors, invading other nations and mass-murdering civilians there in the name of collateral damage while actually serving interests of financial institutions and corporations who are the only ones benefiting from war'.
So I hope we can all keep XDA a nice and friendly place and try not to bring up discussions that may be extremely offensive to many people who are a part of this community.

Then why did you bring it up?
Why didn't you just ask a mod to close it on that principle alone?
Now that you did bring it up, unfortunately this should now be closed. Thanks. :sly:

First off, its in the general section, so correct me if im wrong, but doesnt require it to be related to smart phones. If i posted this in the wrong section i could se a problem.
Yes this is a multinational forum, but in no way was it to bring offense to anyone. I specifically said thanks to the veterans. That is ANY who have served no matter what military or legion. I specified my branch i served as did a few others. And we say thanks because for us, we volunteered our lives, and willingly risked them. Yes, we may follow orders just as others do as well. But again. We volunteered as many do. Sorry if someone takes offense. Mods have already posted their thanks as well. If they chose to close it so be it. One more thing, i do know and understand some countries to force people to serve in their military. While not all do agree to motives behind what happens. We still stand proud and do what is needed, in no way does this express the opinion of XDA. Just myself. I dont agree to alot that has been going down man nor do i care for the civilian losses. That defiantly is a harsh reality to events. So again. If someone is offended. I am sorry. If you have served in ANY military. I thank you.

Over compensating much?
They hyped up this device beyond what it could deliver. It launched terribly and hasn't really met expectations. Its a good device, perhaps great for some. However it clearly has some issues and you can expect people to discuss those issues. This is a forum after all.
If all you can do is throw a childish temper tantrum then by all means the exit is alt f4. Grow up. This is a place for development and discussion not temper tantrums.
Oh right, we now have people complain about people complaints.

Who helps me live my life other than me? Are you suggesting that I exist by virtue of people that allow me to exist and by virtue of military dominance?
Am I free to choose not to pay taxes if I'm convinced the current set of politicians are ignoble and amoral pieces of filth? Of course, I'm at liberty to not pay but am I free to do so?
Ah, perhaps I'm free to opt out of paying property taxes because I've chosen not to breed, no?
Would you hold the same value in America if you would have been born in another country? Enough to move here?
How does the military help make me free? War seems to be the general trend of this country; it seems more and more people are needed to sacrifice their lives and well bring at the whim of political agenda. Should the Draft be reinstated, am I free to say no?
I don't understand the purpose of this thread nor why people play these mental tricks with each other.
Of course, we are all at liberty to choose as we see fit, that is by virtue of being human with a mind capable of choice and creativity, but we are not free to choose as we see fit. No military has ever lifted a finger to do something about that and none ever will.

Dev donation.. Need phone for more development

Recently, one of the members if team rejectz has had a minor accident with his E4GT. My team mate, friend, and mentor had his phone ran over while keeping a child safe from on coming traffic. As we all know, this phone is very sleek and can easily slip from your hands or pocket. In this case the phone slipped from his pocket while.scurrying the young child out of harms way. He very well may have saved the child's life. But by the time he turned around his phone had been ran over and crushed by on coming traffic. This could happen to any of us. Sprint has claimed it was user negligence and is charging Lorjay $100.00 for a deductible to obtain a replacement. We are all struggling in this economy and none of us have an extra hundred bucks. Lorjay589 has been an invaluable help to this forum and community. He started team rejectz as well as taught and mentored me and others of our team so we could help make these devices better. In doing so our team has collectively brought 5 of the newest roms, many new png images, mods, lockscreens etc. Currently we have raised approximately 42.00. We are just about half way there. Here is a paypal donation link, also you can donate to him if you enjoy lorjays original work and feel you can contribute with a donation. ALSO, IF anyone has a tester phone that they can part with for our team, please pm any of us from.team rejectz. Thank you for your time and consideration.
I have spoken with these members and this is fine.
Please no trolls and no need to associate this member with any other one you feel did not do the right thing. If you want to donate, donate. If you don't, then just move on. They have taken the necessary steps to do this right with my guidance.

Sprint Employment

Hey question for all you under sprints employ. I am looking into a position at a local sprint store they are looking to fill. Sales/tech rep or whatever. I was wondering if any sprint guys would give me some info. Do you enjoy working for sprint? How is the pay? Whats an average paycheck between hourly and commission? How do they treat you? Is it hard to go to shool while working there? (Im in college) I have a fairly stable job right now but it doesn't pay very well and I hate it. The last time I was in the sprint store I knew twice as much about phones as the one guy and was helping customers around me. I think I would thoroughly enjoy it but am looking for the inside scoop...

Hey, I just started at a local indirect dealership 2 weeks ago. I'm a junior in college and I'll tell you that it doesn't interfere. Our store hours are from 9a to 6p so its not like an all day gig. This is an indirect store so sprint does not own it. We are like a liaison between customers and sprint. I'm treated very well and believe it or not, sprint does a nice job answering questions I have about sales, tech, markets or anything. I make 9 an hr plus com. And sprint has the my rewards program as an incentive.
I say try it out, each store is diff....

Sprint tech is an awesome job, if you know what you are doing. Also, the clientele of each particular store greatly affects how content you are in the job. I worked at an indirect dealer for many years. I loved it at one location, survived at another, and finally told the populace to stick their phones up their asses at the last one.
Most of the time people are cool, but other times you have ignorant assholes who can't understand how dropping their phones in a lake, IS THEIR FAULT. Sprint doesn't owe you the world because you pay for a service millions of others do.
Good luck in your endeavor, the only thing I can advise you, is to treat every person the way you would expect to be treated.

Every job I have had has been customer service so I feel your pain. But I am also very used to that part of it. 9 an hour plus commission would be more than I now make which is itself enough incentive to try. I just met and chatted w/ the regional manager and could get an interview quick. I think it is an environment I would thrive in. I have experience for sales, passion for tech, and am quite familiar with android software. Thanks for the info guys

That's one of the main problems with uneducated management in this country. They greatly undervalue the people who really keep the business running. Too much focus on increasing MRR can destroy a company.

As a tech, its been the only job I haven't grown to hate after a year lol.
I really do love it. Could the pay be better? Hell yes. But the benefits are great. Do I feel under appreciated as a tech? Of course. But silently knowing you keep the wheels moving is gratifying. The only part that gets on my nerves is inventory. Techs are solely responsible for that, and it's just tedious. But the actual repair aspect is cake.
The ability to get free phones, whether it be through the advocate program or from the OEMs holding events where they give them away, is the best part, if you're a geek like me. I got my E4GT for free 3 months into the job, so I was pretty much hooked after that lol.

Its a 6 store franchise I applied for. I mentioned employment in store and got interviewed on the spot. Crushed the interview. Looking really good. Thanks for all the insight. After the interview I am pretty pumped about it. It should be a huge upgrade from my current job.

Always remember - honesty is the key to success (and happiness in my experience). Honesty with yourself above all else. Apply this to your work & personal life, and you will succeed. Congrats on the new employment!
Do you guys find there is a lot of fluctuation month to month of your commission numbers?

Very much so depending on surveys. We are graded as a whole, so if one guy gets a bad survey there goes commission out of everyone's pocket

Its okay but our manager pretty much hates technicians because he says they don't make money for the store like sales reps do... (sigh)

Then he does not need to be manager! That tech depending pin how good he or she is might make a difference in return customers. My local repair center has a great tech and lousy customer service.
