No, you can't as the unlock token is specific to each IMEI

???is the 'no' in the post to "same unlock token" question or "can i root 2 Vs off same PC and TOOLKIT"question????
You don't have to.
You can use all the rest except the unlock token must be the one meant for the other phone.
One PC can unlock many phones but with it's own unlock token from Htc.

Hello guys.
When you use htcdev.com to unlock your bootloader, you will have to provide a device identifier to HTC. Then you get an unlock code.
This way HTC knows you have unlocked, or at least tried to unlock your phone.
What I am looking for is someone with a completely unmodified HTC Wildfire S (factory state). So it must be S-ON and never have been unlocked before. Best would be a brand new Wildfire S.
What do I want to test?
Dump the /radio and the /misc partition before and after several events
---- on an unmodified WFS
---- on an umodified WFS having installed the HTCDEV RUU
Then we will try to unlock the phone without getting the unlock token from HTCDEV.
If that works we will again dump some partitions to see what has changed.
As you may probably be new to this with an unlocked phone I will guide you to all the steps needed. There is nothing to worry about your phone. If it does not work we will make your phone as it was before.
I look forward to getting help in this matter. If it works out this will make the unlocking process easier and will keep your warranty.
Please take you about an hour time to step it all through.
Thanks
O_O
Sounds like a plan... Got mine A-off months ago, before HTC dev bl unlock existed.

i guess you couldn't, since this is meant for the wfs not sensation and that sensation and wfs are completely different
you are right
In china you unlock your HTC phone don't need to unlock token, just a tools, and click unlock, and then your phone unlocked.very east and fast,no body know that?
Considering the One X/S as my next device.
I read somewhere that htcdev.com registration (and bootloader unlock) will void your guarantee forever, and based on experience I will need HTC service at some point.
Did I understand it correct, that in order to unlock the bootloader and root, I would need to register at htcdev.com. There no other way?

From what I have been reading just unlocking your bootloader won't void your warranty. But HTC will be able to tell what software you have installed in your phone according to this post HERE
So it's really up to HTC whether or not they fix your under warranty if you ever decide to use custom ROMs.

Hmmm...spooky!
So even if we manage to unlock and root without htcdev.com, HTC cache what roms we use in a hidden folder that cannot be flushed. I'm sure HTC is not going to use such information at my advantage.
If that's really the case, I guess HTC is no longer an option for me?
When I used htcdev to unlock my htc legend I was required to send what is a unique device token to HTC before they send me a unlocker binary file, obviously to me that device token tells HTC exactly which phone has been unlocked and is stored in a data base somewhere, so if you send it for repair, even if you do manage to get your phone back to stock again before, the records will show that the phone has been tampered with.
That's what i believe anyway.

Well I'm not sure about that. Maybe with S-OFF we can clean the cache, but not really sure.

Sending the token means you may have unlocked your phone. They don't void warranty for just unlocking your boot loader.

I've tried going back through HTCdev and unlocking the bootloader again that way, but I keep getting a command error when using the fastboot oem get_identifier_token command. I am still s-off and I recently went back to stock using the RUU to go to the 2.22.531.5 rom and I had to lock the bootloader in order to use the software correctly. Is there another way to unlock the bootloader other than HTCdev?
Update: I've been able to get the identifier token for HTCdev now, however I keep getting an error code 122 with the email not being able to be sent.
Update2: I've scoured my email inbox to find the time I had unlocked the bootloader before but the unlock code file that I tried to use gives me an unlock token check failed error.

when you do the HTCdev unlock with the identifier token, dont choose one M8, choose all other models. I had an error flashing the one specifically for the one M8 but the other one worked fine. Good Luck!

I've just given that a try, the website keeps hanging every time I try to send an identifier token now. When I refreshed earlier I had gotten the email error, but upon refreshing now it keeps suggesting that I've copied the token incorrectly, but I'm pretty sure that I'm following their instructions correctly. I copy from the start of the identifier token start to the identifier token end as the pictures show. Specifically, the error code this time refers to invalid bootloader token length.

It's possible their website is having issues. When you copy the token from the fastboot command you're copying from <<<<identifier token start>>>> all the way to <<<<identifier token end>>>> without the info or bootloader message to the left right?

Yes, I copied from the arrows for identifier token start to the arrows at the end of identifier token end. I didn't include anything above or below or to the left of the token. I went ahead and sent them an email as well to see if they could give me an unlock code or assist me in any way as well. Is there any reason why my original unlock code file wouldn't have worked? When I unlocked my bootloader before, this was when the HTC One M8 was first released, so I was one of the previous stock versions when that was done. I also used the firewater method to achieve S-Off, but that shouldn't affect the website giving me another unlock code if I'm able to still get the token, right?

If you're s-off, then there is really no reason to unlock with HTC. In fact there's little reason to unlock at all but if you'd like you can do it manually and instructions can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708571

I thought so too, but I think I have to still have my bootloader unlocked to reflash a custom recovery. Trying to flash TWRP gave me a permission denied error. I'll try this out though and see how it goes.
Update: On a whim, I decided to try HTCDev again and everything worked properly? What an odd website.

Well, in the future, just so you know, you didn't need HTCdev at all if you had followed the instructions at the link I pointed you to and also you could still flash a custom recovery while locked if you flash it through RUUmode (eg fastboot oem rebootRUU)
I have a Verizon M9 running 2.6.605.15. I have a clip, and was able to S-Off the device with MUCH help from the xtc2clip people. For the life of me I cannot unlock the bootloader on this device. Every time I run the clip I get a communications error 3, and even the xtc2clip people have never seen it happen. So I'm stuck at this point. Anyone have this issue with the clip, or not being able to unlock the bootloader? Any help would be appreciated!
If you've s-off'd the device already, you won't use the clip to unlock the bootloader, this can be done with adb commands.

I let the updates go through before I Tried to unlock the bootloader, and it wouldn't kick out the block of numbers to paste into the htcdev site. So I RUU'd back to the starting rom, and it worked fine. IDK if that helps.

Why on earth would you do HTC Dev and effectively notify HTC you are s-off and now unlocked when you could have simply unlocked and never had to wipe?

That worked perfectly, thanks! I thought it had to be easy....
As the title says, I'm trying to root my HTC One X. I currently am on 4.0.4 Android version, 4.0 HTC Sense version, and software number is 2.20.502.7 710RD. I found a video tutorial with this exact software and phone and I followed all of the steps. I figured out how to install adb and fastboot so I could use fastboot commands. I changed my CID to 11111111 and got my HTC dev code. However when I go to type in the command: fastboot flash unlock Unlock_code.bin I keep getting the same error message. The error message is (Boootloader) FAILED (signature verify fail). In the tutorial this did not happen so I don't really know what to do at this point. If someone could please help that would be much appreciated.
Hello
Are you sure you have the correct unlock code?
Did you copy it correctly?
Did you place the unlock code in the fastboot folder on your PC before executing the command?
Try a different cable and/or USB port. Dont connect via a HUB
Why did you need to change the CID?
Have a look at http://onexroot.com/one-x-root/how-to-root-one-x/
Dont change to S-OFF in case you do something wrong, this will save you by keeping S-ON

Yes I copied the unlock token correctly and everything. I have not tried different USB ports. I needed to change the CID because on the One X the CID needs to be 11111111 in order to root. I haven't changed to S-OFF yet. Any other help?
The One X does not need to be 11111111 to root.
I really believe that your bootloader is still locked. Please double check and make sure the unlock code was copied exactly as per the procedure in the link i sent. Even the slightest mistake in copying will cause a fail
In fastboot mode, what does it say at the top of the screen
Also try fastboot oem unlock

I copied the code down correctly undoubtedly, at the top it says
*** TAMPERED***
*** LOCKED ***
Hboot 1.14
Should my bootloader say unlocked???
Yes it should say unlocked.
What I think has happened is that you used an incorrect/incomplete unlock code to unlock the bootloader. Hence the word TAMPERED. Perhaps even changing your CID also didn't help. Not sure.
You said you followed a video? send link of method you used
What was your original CID?
Try unlocking bootloader again. In post #2 there is a link to a tutorial. Follow this exactly.
Also double check in fastboot mode to see it it says S-OFF. To change your CID i am sure you must have changed to S-OFF?
Unlocking boot loader does not root the phone. It's just the first step
Also (but not a problem) you have an old bootloader. 1.14. That will need to be updated if you want to flash custom ROMS

I can't post a link here but if you google "how to root htc one 2.20" it should be the first one and it is by max lee. I don't have S-OFF because I used a one click method to change my CID and to get the code.
Do you an AT&T phone?

Then i can only suggest that you copied the token incorrectly.
