Android OS killing my battery - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

I was just wondering what this might be. My battery is at 64% with only 48 minutes screen time on. All my apps were closed most the day. Is there a fix to this without root? Any suggestions that might help. Thanks

Hold down home button / task magager/ clear all app
Task manager / ram / clear memory.
Application manager / force stop all the app you not use

Oh okay. I guess the only thing i wasn't doing was clearing the ram. Hopefully that'll do the trick. Thanks

[Q] Processes

2 questions. what is a good app to use to see what is draining the battery or keeping the phone awake and what are the 2 top processes in my attachment?
Sounds like that 2.3.3 bug. are you on 2.3.4?

Yes I have 2.3.4

Try watchdog, or OS Monitor. They both work great. I use them together.

thank u for those apps. But does anyone else know what I can do about these processes?

Battery ideas?

So I'm running a 2100 m a h extended life battery and I know I should be getting better life than this. I'm running 4.1 jelly bean on cdma phone, stock kernel. I also have the app killer checked on, and my screen brightness is pretty low. I've been having my wifi at home but still for 4 hours in 40 percent screen time that's really bad numbers. just wondering if anybody has any input

Uninstall your task killer, those do more harm than good. And download BetterBatteryStats to see what is draining your battery.
More likely it's your apps that are causing it to drain very badly. Any shady looking apps I would uninstall. And like above me, do those both as well.

What setting is this? And don't use it.
You may want to use the Better Battery stats application to check for wake locks.
Trying a different kernel may also help. The Faux kernel works well for myself.
Lastly, the standby time doesn't give as much insight into your battery life as well as screen on time does. What kind of screen on time are you getting?
Note: don't use task killers, and don't manually kill applications.

Wow your right. First for some reason I couldn't even click back on x d a developers app kept force closing and after I check that I can finally go back didn't think that would effect so much

Turn off any app killing, as you've done.
In your screenshot, you had a lot of calls, that'll do it too, so battery life can vary.
Here is today's. I don't get it. 2100 math battery low brightness display

Why is task killing worse than good?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
I am not sure about the stock app killer but any 3rd party app killer is constantly scanning your phone looking for apps running even if there is none so it's constantly using battery power

Is this google maps causing all this battery drain?

My phone went from 91% to 31% over the night while I slept. I looked into better battery stats to see what the cause was and this is what I saw.
What can I do to remedy this issue?

You could try toggling your location services on and off in addition to clearing the data and cache in that specific app (settings > apps > all, etc) and rebooting. Something is triggering that. Are you stick/rooted?
I'm on the CM 10.1 nightly from Feb 13. Using Kt747 kernel.
Do I clear the cache from the maps application?

Yes, I would clear the maps cache. Something is using location/GPS but it's hard to tell you which app is turning on those tools, so it could be maps. Or turn off all location based services so no apps have access to those tools. Another option is uninstalling app by app to see which one is the culprit or continue monitoring the battery till something more definitive pops up.
I'll try that out. It also looks like the ebay app has been wake lock too. I haven't even been in that app in a long time and for some reason it's waked 500 times

Just freeze maps using titanium.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
You don't have to freeze it:

Ram always at 1.12 gb!!

Usually my ram is at 500-600mb at normal usage but now after I installed antutu benchmark test from play store it keeps increasing to .9gb to 1.12gb with no usuage at all I clear ram leave it then check it out after hour or so the ram fills up and draining the battery with 10% drained I restarted the phone same thing even with uninstalling the app it is really annoying draining the battery like that and having ram at this level what do u think I should do or what is causing it.
Thanks
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
See it just keeps filling like that
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
It will remain always like that. you need not to do anything, android itself having LMK(low memory killing) and will make free whenever it needs.
So keep as it is, It's good for health.
PS : Though you want to keep free, use option limit background process in developer option in setting, don't know ultimately how much it will improve battery, but surely it will take time to open application.
Don't worry too much about RAM usage, and don't use task killers. Unlike with Windows or your usual linux distribution, android has control on which app stays in memory and which one is killed. And it is pretty good at managing this without user intervention.
As for battery life, I recommend BetterBatteryStats if you whant to know what is draining it. But by personal experience, I think you should look at apps that use background data connection, like Facebook.
Mine always sits around 1.55 - 1.65ghz lol
Edit: I just realised I wrote GHz instead of GB. *facepalm* fail on my behalf lol

I did a factory reset and same problem still exist ram at 0.95gb - 1.12gb why. When I usually do factory reset it settles at 500-600mb now with no apps it is high as mentioned above.

Does anything not work as you think it should? Or is this just a matter of numbers? Any performance issues?

The problem it wasn't like that and now the issue is the battery drainage with this high ram even after a factory reset.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
The battery drainage is much more likely from you constantly trying to kill all those apps, since they then have to restart again. If your phone is not slow, just don't worry about it.

AudioOut wakelock question

Hi I have note 2 which is fantastic and I am very pleased with it. So far I was getting perfect battery life but lately it doesn't last that long so I installed BBS and this audioOut wakelock is preventing my phone from sleeping. Is there a chance to find which program is keeping this wakelock? I searched the web and there is Nino help. It is almost always on silent and I am not using it to listen to the music. Thanks

I've seen all kinds of "fixes" here - e.g. switch ringtones and reboot, turn off all system sounds, use Task Manager to turn off everything and many more.
Not one has worked for me on any ROM with any kernel, which makes me suspect that it's a rogue app. It never takes me a long time to realise that I cannot be bothered trying to track down the responsible app, so I live with it. YMMV. Viber has been mentioned frequently (never had it myself).
Sounds very similar to the Media drain problem. Similar alleged reasons, similar useless solutions, even poor Viber is also wrongfully scapegoated. What kills me is once the problem start it remains no matter what the heck you do, even if you wipe, root, change roms, format, remove/change sd card, etc... Nothing short of a hammer will solve the ****ing problem.
Download advanced task killer and set it to kill all apps at screen off. Also configure greenify to greenify all apps.

delete viber and reboot and you'll be good
Yes I have Viber but I can't see it is running in background... Sometimes I am not accessing gallery or any media files for days and that wakelock is on.. and it goes as our comes.. And I just started to brag about its fantastic battery life...
