Mobile Odin has just been updated to support i317 and also had some nice bug fixes. I've never used it but I'm sure its a good thing to have.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.mobileodin.pro.
Check it out for those who don't know about it. It won't increase the flash counter and it will root for you while flashing your recovery.tar. this is good if your a noob!
Nice. Thanks for posting. Seems like a useful app to have for flashing.

Do you need to root to use mobile odon and can you do full Rom backups (or is CWM the only way)?

I looked into it and found I could use mobile odin to unroot...

You can get all the FW and itas here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1949687
Just to clarify, Mobile Odin won't unroot you, but it will reinject root during flash so you stay rooted.
Also you can get the ota if rooted but if you don't have stock recovery, modem and everything else it'll fail.
Using Mobile Odin and the fw in my thread will work. Just make sure the Everroot options are selected to keep root.
Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper can temp unroot you so maybe that's what you were thinking of?

Well if your just trying to unroot, go into your root program and have it uninstall itself. SuperSU and SUperuser both support the ability for them to fully uninstall themselves.
Will just need to install root via recovery again once your updated.... Pretty easy
Wellllll... I got a super root kit from this site rooted just fine but removed it frim my computer avg said it was infected.
Is that what you mean forgive me for being nooby

Mobile Odin should support internal sd.... I guess you have the free version from his thread here? I didn't realize it didn't support internal...sorry bout that.
In that case just plug into the computer and use pc odin. You can use regular fw or MrRobinsons root66 fw which is pre-rooted. You can find his thread in development.

I am only focusing on your phone. IF your rooted, then you will have an app in your app drawer called either superuser or supersu (That is your root ) Open that and click full uninstall, then your unrooted.
When your done with the update, you can use Odin (Windows Version) to flash a custom recovery and then install the supersu.zip file located in chainsfire's thread.
I have superuser. I cannot find an option within the app to do a uninstall.

Well. With my galaxy s1 I did the whole flashing a new rom every week thing.. none of them worked properly... every rom had at least one problem wether it was wifi calling or gps or battery issues... I dont know convince me to start doing it again with jelly bean right around the corner

Hi to u all. I need a little help in according with unroot procedure.
Well, I rooted my device without odin, but using a tool with mac, so flahing recovery.img with terminal and then flashing supersu with cwmd.
Right. Phone works good. I am still with stock rom. I would like to unroot the device for my reasons.
Could I unroot without odin. Having mac I am enable to run it. I read on play store that I can reset numbers of flashes and if I delete supersu, it become unrooted. But, with this procedure the device will give a state "custom" as well. So.....if someone could help me I will appriciate a lot

This may be a dumb question but to install a recovery from goomanager... You have to be rooted right?
I'm stock now and trying to install a custom recovery and then flash roms... Are there any custom recoveries you can install from Odin?

You need root to install custom recoveries also to flash ROMs. You have your choice between twrp and cwm. I know twrp has Odin flashable files on their site. Easy as pie.

Root with the easy way listed in this forum and then open too manager and chose option in menu to flash open recovery and start rooting!

Bah there a simple way hut trips then flash counter ( which does matter because we can clear the flash counter)
Its just say casual rooting I think. Its intended at&t development section. Its a one click deal basically. You need to be rooted to do anything with odin

I flashed the new rom for galaxy s3 i747 baseband i747ucuemjb ver. 4.3 and rooted it but everytime I try to use romtoolbox or superSU I get the security notice. I did some research and I believe this is due to KNOX... how would I remove knox? i tried to use terminal to do it but terminal wont allow me to use su commands at all...
Thanks in advance
Removing Knox goes way further then just an apk file my recommendation would be to use the 4.3 Roms provided By loserskater

NO!
This is terrible advice and will brick your phone. Do not for any reason try to downgrade from MJB 4.3 to any 4.1.1 ROM.
Allrockedout, be sure to know what you are talking about before you advise others to brick their phone!

Odin process all are ok also it triggering custom binary count on my phone.. But after flashing my phone wont load flashed custom recovery.. You've lost your root and knox is blocking to work these custom recovery.
Reroot, desable knox, then retry.
Find dr.ketan's thread regarding this.
Cheers.
