I bought a second hand xperia play a few days ago and now looking to whizz things up a bit with a new Rom.
It's already been rooted but looks to have a stock Rom running
Here's the details
2.3.4
Kernal version [email protected]#10
Build number 4.0.2.A.0.42
Basically I'd like a properly established Rom without the bloatwear, every time I open task manager theres about 15 things open when I'm not using them

Sounds good, how do I install it in simple terms? Sorry if I sound like a orange :-S
Is it just a straight install or do I need to mess with kernels etc,
How's yours set up? Rom/Kernel etc
Help is much appreciated

Since it already has doomlord's kernel on it, it is rooted and the bootloader is unlocked, so you can probably use fastboot to install most roms. If you want compatibility for all the games, stick with GB. If you go to an ICS build, you'll likely have problems with certain games crashing, graphical errors, or gamepad not working.
I have no problems with the gamepad so far using DarkForest ICS.
I tried ICS++, I prefer Darkforest still. Probably sticking with it till the real ICS.
There are so graphical issues, but its pretty nice, no bloatware either.
If you already have a kernel with recovery, all you need to do is install the .zip file for the ROM through it.
Put the zip on your sd card, reboot the phone. While it boots and the light turns blue, press the back button.
I attempted to update the kernel earlier and bricked my phone, I the fastboot method and actually completed the flash, when I powered on the mobile it was just displaying a black screen,
After looking about I got the stock rom and flashed it, and its working again!
Now my mobile is on stock rom with stock kernel,
It displays a message saying theres a system update available but when I connect to pc I get some message saying the software cannot be installed because the device has unauthorized software on it, I also got this message before I flashed to the stock firmware so it seems that they know my mobile was rooted etc and cant update through their software...
Could someone kindly walk me through what I need to do to put doomkernel v13 and jokawild rom on,
Thanks

have you tried Age of Zombies? and hows your battery? last time I used darkforest I'd only get 5 hours of battery life with just texting and listening to music :S
Any suggestions,

Flash stock ROM with flashtool, load fastboot, flash kernel image for DooMKernel, boot into recovery, clear cache, apply the update.zip for jokawild, done.
If you need more detailed instructions I'll write out a full guide later when I can use my home PC.
Actually, I was thinking of doing a full guide with pictures anyway.

Hi,
I got my phone stuck on bootloop, and can't find a good idiot-proof guide on how to fix this without the ability to get into recovery.
Here's what happened:
Last night I figured I'd give it another shot trying to get a custom rom on my Arc. This didn't work because I couldn't get into recovery anymore (??)
So just now I figured I'd re-install CWM, so I ran the program, it didn't work.
So I ran it again; Didn't work.
Well, I ran it again, and the program said it worked; So i try to boot into recovery, and it's boootlooping ((
I don't know what happened here (it has to have something to do with the cwm installation program), and I don't really care at this point. I just hope there is someone here that's willing to write up how to get it working again.(in an idiot-proof guide )
Thanks in advance guys
I would just re install stock either by using pcc or seus, or flashtools which is the preferred method for most.
If using flashtools you can choose which stock rom to use look in the stickies for the need roms etc.

Dear All,
does anyone know why WIFI on xperia arc ICS 4.0.4 always disconect and connect?
any solution???
thanks looking for your help....
maybe you flashed lt15i firmware on lt15a
I've flashed the Generic Global World 4.0.4 but I don't seem to have any problems with wifi.
I flashed a global ics on my arc and i ve got the same problem you re not alone mate...

Is it a kernel prob what kernel are you using ? Also do you use battery defender because I know that messed up my WIFI on 4.0.4. You could also use something like WIFI lock from the play store. Hope you get it sorted.
Try repairing using pcc or sus and before installing format the sd card and reset factory settinf and install the software twice..
Hope that helps.
download wifi fix from playstore and run it . That will definately solve your problem . Do click thanks if i helped you ...!!!
Sorry now I downgrade to GB 2.3.4
It better for me ;-)
Everything is working fine...
What I did I follow structure to flash rom that can root and flash kernel back. This is what I did when I use 4.0.4
If I don't do this I can' t root my phone...

Hi!
You don´t need to unlock your bootloader cause this Rom works with stock kernel. But you´ll need to root your phone and install CWM.
Oficial 4.0.3 is rootable, so you won´t have problems to root at all. It´s pretty easy and fast.
CWM you can install using the play store: search for cwm for xperia
then, download 4.2 or 4.2n Icebean Rom and be happy.
Best regards!
Thankyou very much!
I downloaded a auto install root from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601038
I did this. I got stuck on SONY logo.
Im using stock kernel of ICS 4.0.4, rooted my phone by doomlord. I believe, the Ice Bean really require the ArcKnight kernel. Any idea why i got stucked? Can you advise???

Hi!
Did you solve your problem? 'I guess you did...'
I have heard of some users with 4.0.4 kernel having problems...
Honestly, I don´t know if the problem is related only to this stock kernel, but if you use 4.0.3 kernel or the new one released (587) you won´t have problems at all.
Another thing that SOMETIMES happens is to get stuck on SONY logo, but if you remove the battery of the phone, put it again and turn the phone on, then it works...
Wish u have solved before my post, but if u didn´t, try what I just wrote.
=)
