[Q] Can't boot. Flashtool drivers won't install. - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay, so I messed up restoring a backup. Not sure what I did wrong exactly to be honest, but the phone won't boot now. But I do have CWM recovery and an unlocked bootloader, so I should be good, but I can't actually get it to work.
I'm trying to go back to stock, but I have a ftf file instead of a rom. So I have to use flashtool for that and can't use CWM which is annoying, but all right. But the problem is I can't get the drivers for Flash mode installed. Whenever I run the Flashtool-drivers.exe that comes with Flashtool and select Flashmode Drivers I just get the "Windows can't verify the publisher of this driver software" over and over again. I press "install anyway", but it just keeps coming up and the drivers are never installed.
How do I get it to install drivers? Or is there maybe an easier way to get it back to stock? Thanks in advance for any help.
Also, why is it that adb drivers never, ever, ever, ever, ever "just werk"?
EDIT:
So I ended up finding this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1582554 and got everything sorted out.
Seriously though, why is it every single time you need to install drivers this stuff it doesn't work and you have to google a bunch until you find a random post on xda developers where someone uploaded a driver package that will work but they don't even explain where it came from?
Every. Single. Time.

I install the adb driver once and it work everytime.

It definitely needs different drivers for fastboot mode and flash mode. I already had adb drivers for fastboot installed(same problem where I had to go googling to find one's that actually worked), but in flash mode didn't use those.
I don't know.

Go to device manager on PC & delete the drivers you have. Open flashtool folder go to drivers then choose the play drivers & at the very bottom off the same list click on flash & fastboot drivers.

rooting blues LT18i - Fixed

EDIT 2 : Problem solved. It was flashing the correct way. I was flashing the kernel and looking at the Filesystem version number. Silly Me.
Updated from GingerBread to ICS using the SEPC.
Currently on 4.0.4 and 4.1.B.0.587
From what i understood, can't root 4.1.B.0.587 directly. So have to flash to 4.1.A.0.562 and root, and get back to 4.1.B.0.587 as mentioned here
So I install flashtool, the drivers and try. but this is what happens

also, am i doing things right ?

i have had times when i had to flash 3-4 times before it would take. i would definitely re-download the stock firmware as it appears maybe corrupt. did you modify the file your flashing? do you have CWM? if so enter and format system & cache(should end bootloop but will leave no ROM so re-install a back-up). if not next time you get it to flash mode flash the stock firmware with wipe system & cache at least. i recommend a full wipe (check all). if your going to mess with system files i would use CWM and make a working back-up, better safe than this
Hey thanks all flashing finally worked and I since installed cwm recovery and am now running miui its ok but id like to try cm9 but my bootloader is locked and I am not sure how to unlock it. Are there any other roms that work on locked bootloaders that would work with this phone (lt28i)

ADB / flash mode problem..

Got a stupid problem. When I connect my SXS (power + vol down), green led light comes up, flash tool says "Connected device with USB debugging mode off" (obviously it's turned on), and it comes back after ca. 10-20 secs to charging mode. I can't even start flash, because I'm doing everything slowly (to don't destroy my phone ), so when I'm ready to press flash it change back to normal charging. Adb drivers from few sources installed (device manager indicate properly), pcc, SUS installed.

Did you try the drivers from the sony develpoer website
Also try plugging when it asks you

Are you on a 64 bit machine? If yes then do this
Install drivers manually
Go to
http://developer.sonymobile.com/down...stboot-driver/ and download the fastboot driver
Now go to the file you downloaded. It will be a file named android_winusb.inf.Add these under the following entry [Google.NTamd64].
; SonyEricsson
%SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0FCE&PID_0DDE
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0FCE&PID_0DDE&MI_01
%SingleBootLoaderInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0FCE&PID_0DDE
Now open device manager and connect your phone in fastboot mode. You should see an entry s1 fastboot pop up.right click on it and go to update drivers and then install from specific location and then ultimately click on havedisk and select the file you downloaded and edited. Install both adb interface and adb bootloader interface and then once done click on finish
Follow the steps here in case you run into a problem installing through havedisk

umm...you will get fastboot. fastboot is used to unlock a locked bl. so even with a locked bl you can connect your phone in fastboot mode. Your problem if i understood correctly is that you cannot connect your phone in fastboot mode

ohh i see. The one where you have to flash the .211 kernel and root it and then flash .96 back. Whatever it is,The process i mentioned is same. Make sure you have 64 bit drivers for android adb interface. then try out flashing through flashtools as mentioned in the post. Just ignore the locked or unlocked bootloader part i mentioned
I unistalled old drivers, tried to reinstall (I've found'em in Flashtool pack). Now, my device isn't showed in Device Manager Window (when connected via Flash mode). I tried as smb above had said:

Hey guys, I'm having the exact same problems as the OP, its frustrating as hell! USB debugging is definitely ticked before I power off, but the flashtool tells me its off when it detects the phone again.
Im going to have a look at the SDK malarkey later....but is there any other way round this? Id like to install a new ROM...wife's phone and its running like a 2 legged dog she has another 1.5 years with it as she is on contract.
Cheers,
TG

Connect phone with debugging mode on in flashtool. Once when it asks for a connection using fastboot mode then switch it off and connect and tell what it says
BTW do you have an unlocked bootloader??
