The international stock back does have nfc. The cheap ebay aftermarket parts don't

well there is a 2100 extended battery that comes with a new cover, but you can't even tell the difference and NFC works

Where?
If the Sprint battery is compatible with the Verizon battery then Verizon sells the 2100mAh for $25 at a store.

I don't have one either, but I think what's not compatible (without slight modification) is the Verizon back cover. I think the Verizon OEM battery would work fine on the Sprint device, otherwise.
Would be nice if Sprint launched with their own back cover and extended battery options.

The battery is a little larger than the 1850mah version that comes with the Sprint Galaxy Nexus. However, the back cover doesn't fit perfectly. You'll have to use a nail clipper or something similar to cut off the 2 small plastic nubs to fit the Sprint phone. There is a little bit of a flex on the cover where the nubs were cut, so unless you have a phone case, like a Cruzerlite case, I would not recommend using this battery/back for the Sprint version of the Galaxy Nexus. It's not major though, so it's possible to live with it if you're not really picky about the fit not being perfect.
The original back cover for the 1850mah battery will not fit with the 2100mah battery.

Wonder if samsung might make one for sprint?
I've scratched up the back of my nexus and am looking for an OEM back cover for GSM nexus. Just the stock one not extended. I was looking on eBay but only found extended back covers for Verizon and such. Can anyone post a link? Thanks in advance.

NFC is based on the battery, not the back cover. So if you're using one of the OEM standard or extended batteries or the Mugen batteries then yes NFC will work.
Where is the best place to get an OEM battery with the NFC chip?

I'm checking it out on Ebay, but Amazon sell them too.

FYI- Stay away from Aluminum back cover if you want to use NFC or want good reception. It will block NFC and lower reception since it metal. Planning to buy Aluminium look alike ...not Aluminium itself
I am going to get the att note 2 and want to know if there's a NFC chip in the phone or the battery. With the Galaxy nexus you had to use OEM batteries for NFC to work since NFC was built in the battery. I want to by backup batteries and found ones on Amazon from anker and Hyperion that say NFC compatible .I am assuming the chip is in the phone itself since the flip cases have contact points in the back cover plate.

The chip is in the phone, the antenna is in the cover.

Just dug up the link for someone else, so I figured I'd post the eBay listing for both versions while I have them pulled up.
This is the same back cover as was on the Galaxy Nexuses given out to Google employees on Christmas 2011.

Disclaimer: I don't know the seller. I just bought from them, and they're the only ones selling AFAIK.
The listing pics make the doors look like extended battery doors.... Are they?

Unfortunately no. :/ I've heard of people who have managed to get the stock extended battery to fit though. Next week I'll be ordering the 2100mAh extended battery and seeing what luck I get.
Yes the standard door fits just fine. Running it now.
