update to a jellybean rom or wait? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I've been looking to upgrade to jb, but it seems the roms still are buggy, should I wait to upgrade, or is there a bug free jb rom out there currently?

I am using the stock LJ7 and I do not find it yo be buggy. I would wait to upgrade if you are wanting to use WiFi Tether, since that does not work on Jelly Bean Touchwiz roms.

There are multiple threads in the Android Development section which contain the stock OTA JB release from Sprint....that would be your best bet.

Ya this and the fact that basically all the jb ROM's out right now are built off the stock OTA update, They are not buggy at all. I have ran all of them and have not found one single bug.

[Q] Sense 4.1 app folder laggy

I just recently bought this phone, everything about it is great except that opening the app folders on homescreen is kinda laggy. Did anyone experience this? Wondering if there is a fix.
no problem on custom ROM and custom kernel. :good: never tried stock ROM...
Haven't tried any of the custom roms out there, anyone worth trying?

I swear they're all so awesome that it's basically personal preference, lol.
Keep in mind that the new Sense Jelly Bean ROMs require specific CIDs in order to work.
And remember to read instructions before installing....
Thanks! I might hold up for a while as I just read the news JB is being rolled out at the moment. Can't wait for the OTA update in UK!

thanks so i better get back to stock and wait for the official jb upgrade? i guess i wont get any upgrade when i stay on cm10, will i?
So its possible to go from CM10, back to stock, then when the jb ota is available, we can upgrade to that ? I have a branded phone running arhd 9.6 and my carrier only released 4.0.4 on Friday. I'm thinking of going to CM10 to enjoy the jb experience.
Yeah mate
btw, aussie carriers are slow at releasing updates, so it'll be awhile

whats the point of waiting for JB?

Hi all,
What is the point of waiting for the official JB to come out by OTA, compared to the JB roms now available on xda (ordroid 7.1.0 for example). Is it more stable because it is from HTC, is there a real benefit?
Which evokes my next question, where do the custom roms get their base from? Is this base the same as the official JB update I have been waiting for?

Jb roms now works only if you have HBOOT 1.31 and some users are waiting for their compatible firmware to be able to upgrade their HBOOT... The custom roms take their base from RUUs and OTAs

multiview is a note 2 and international S3 feature. there are roms in the android development section that offer a ported version of this but it is not native to our US S3 variant. to the best of my knowledge, there is not a flashable mulitview package. if there was, it probably would not be stable. cheers

i dont think we'll see that update over here in the states. we might see 4.1.2 or 4.2 sometime this year, but it wont include mulitview.
i've heard good things about GalaxyMOD and there's Synergy rom too. both of those are based on stock with some mods and such. go check them out. i stick with aosp-based roms so i cant vouch for these one's stability. just know they're probably the top 2.

In the themes and apps section, search for 4.2 camera. There is back thread that contains several different cwm flashable cameras including note 2 and the 4.2 one

It's simply the latest one - i recently flashed back to stock because of an warranty-issue, and i found it hard to find out which of those dozens of circulating ROMs was the newest one.
Sure nothing major has changed compares to the out-of-the-box-rom, but i guess most people that go back to stock / need to go back like to choose the newest one.

I found 4.0 to be much more fluid, performant and appealing than the Stock-ROM, while the versions 4.1 and above seemed to have lost a noticable piece of agility and responsivness compared to 4.0.
I guess that 4.0 performs really great, only drawback for normal users is the camera, which is still a little bit buggy and sometimes does not work, due to the driver model issues :-/.

Does any of you guys use the VPN function? Can anyone confirm that it works on stock rom? I flashed my phone as soon as I got it and never tried the vpn with 2.3.6, but tried with 4.0, 4.1.2, and 4.2.1 and it doesn't work well in this versions.

Sorry, never used it. But i would also guess that if a ROM does implement it properly, it should be this one.

I'm using this one too before even if it doesn't for my region and nothing really is significant, just some ICS features.
8150XXLM8 or Value Pack stock firmware (update via Samsung Kies) is being rolled-out only in Romania and Slovakia. Made for devices that can’t be upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, this Value Pack includes some ICS-specific features, like Face Unlock, the ability to change font size (in Contacts, Calendar, or Messaging), and the ability to take photos while shooting video.

The provided ROM is the latest one at least in Germany.
I do not know how the rollout for the value pack was made for other european countries, but e.g. in Germany the value pack was alreasy delivered with a previous update.
