So, I just got my GSM Unlocked Nexus this week.
I've got my phone pretty much set up how I want (Stock, unlocked bootloader, w/ CWM Recovery and all my apps installed/configured.) The only thing I am disappointed with is the ringing and notification volume.
I checked out Volume+ in the Google Play store, but apparently it isn't working with Jelly Bean at the moment.
I know there are some ROMs that claim to have some audio adjustments, but I'd rather not have to wipe all my settings and install a new ROM. (Back in the day, when flashing ROMs, sometimes it was advised to wipe everything including cache before installing them. Maybe you don't need to do this these days?)
Anyhow, I'm just wondering if there's some sort of thing I can flash in CWM that isn't a full blown ROM or even a working volume app, that I can use to boost my notification and ring tone volume.
Thanks in advance for any help.
EDIT: Nevermind! Think I found what I was looking for.
i have the same problem!how have you solve it?

We talking about notifications and ringing because it does not work for those.

If you want to spend time learning, this is achievable at source level in device/samsung/tuna/audio/audio_hw.c, either on aosp/master or on tagged releases (i.e.: JRO03H)

Weird. Volume+ doesn't work for me on Vicious V1 4.1.1 on toro

Volume+ does not work me either, it stops working. What solution did you find???
Which version of JB?
Volume+ worked for me on 4.1 but not 4.2. I just got DSP installed and working and imo it is much better than volume+.

Here's a link to DSP Manager for 4.2.1. I am not sure if it works in 4.1. Flash from recovery. http://www.mediafire.com/?d8600dd1c0dbfe5
I have it in signature, have also Android 4.2.1. I will give a try to that DSP, thanks. Do you remember the topic from where you have DSP?

Sure, sorry about that. http://rootzwiki.com/topic/36857-dsp-manager-for-42/
Definitely works on my 4.2.1 AOKP ROM.
I have stock ROM, so maybe it doesn't work with it.
Here is a fix for the in-call microphone issue (when making phone calls, the recipients can barely hear the user's voice) myself and many other E980 users have been experiencing with many custom ROMs. This has been tested and works on 4.3.x and 4.4.x ROMs.
THIS IS NOT THE T-MOBILE AUDIO FIX!!
You need to first download a builp.prop editor app. This one works great: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.apps.build.prop.editor
Open the app and change the values of these lines:
persist.audio.handset.mic.type=digital --> replace digital with analog
persist.audio.dualmic.config=endfire -- replace endfire with false
That's it! Reboot and enjoy! This does not fix the speakerphone echo issue, but I'm pretty sure the solution is editing the build.prop in another spot.
Here is the original thread
Thanks

Don't forget you must change these options again if you update your nightly (or swap ROMS), hopefully this will be incorporated into the new builds soon.

I've noticed the last few CM Nightlies, I haven't had to change the build.prop...
Seems to be updated fix in the CM builds since about May 8th or so. (May not be the case on custom ROMs yet).
solved for me..
ive had this problem with just about every custom rom in the last couple months... i even went back to older versions that WERE working fine, but they had this problem now for some reason as well. The only thing that worked was flashing back to stock.
Right now however, i have noticed that the latest CM nightlies have made the problem a little better, and the latest AICP nightlies have eliminated it, for me at least. Im currently on the 7/20 build of AICP 5.0 and it runs like a dream. No build.prop, all i did was flash madmacks modem..

Works perfectly with mine. Just install it and it is good. Its onky good for the external speaker to increase bass. The headphone jack quality is already very good.

I have it working on all music apps with a headset. Flawlessly.. But.....
Using the phone speaker, the sound drops off after 25-30 seconds. Any app. You name it
Pretty sure it's Viper. Anybody knows how can I revert the installation?
I flashed it on TWRP and now even uninstalling the driver the sound still drops.
I will reflash the Chupa chups ROM that I'm using to test if it's a problem with the phone

I think I know what is causing this. Together with the apk I flashed some soundfx lib files that were on the viper4android topic.
I couldn't revert this sound drop with dirty flashes of Chupa chups, which, probably doesn't revert android lib files.
I'm saying that because the phone was working good before the viper flashing. At least I could play a 3 minute video straight without a sound drop.
Can't point if this is truly the problem. I will do a normal flash to see if it reverts or not. Going to bed
Have you guys ever heard about these sound drops? The problem is that I can miss notifications and alarms with that. Damn it.

Theres some zip files in the offical viper4android thread, 3 infact, cant remember what post it was.
You need to flash the 3 files, then it should be working.
else try Shuttle Player, also a good player but not such a hassle.

Yeah I think OTA updates has some problems at the moment. For now, just download the zip file from cyanogenmod's website and flash it in recovery. No need to wipe anything, just remember to flash gapps and supersu (if you use it) again after flashing update.

If the rom deletes GApps, they just won't show up. I have noticed they were only gone on a few different Lollipop updates. But there should be no bootloop if you don't flash. They just won't show up. You can always go back to recovery and flash them after the fact.

Thanks man. Seems CM gives different issues per user. I couldnt make any call, not even linked.. Audio quality is ok for me, i mean its normal but sometimes whilst listening music; glitches for a milisecond when press home button, enter an app etc.. Have you tried ''aroma'' labeled gapps? > http://opengapps.org/?api=6.0&variant=nano I flashed it on the other CM13 rom, no crashes(make sure do not select dialer which is changing framework=causes reboot when you call). I was always using 'aroma-gapps', so that makes sense to have less issue for me(No reboot in sms, No issue/reboot music etc).. So logically, it would work with Dash's build too. Havent had time to try, will let you know after a day/tonight.

You have to edit your build.prop in case.. I couldnt flash Xposed with your build, but changed build.prop then flashed. When I try to flash with yours; it says my device is arm, not arm64 etc. I guess it may causes a conflict with Gapps too.
