Here's the website to download stock ROM.. https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images.. since you're new to this I suggest you read threads on how to manual flash a ROM. But then again if don't want to learn use the tool kit.. it's safe anyway.

Really ?? You can't root your phone !?!?!?!
What messages appeared when you're trying to root through CWM
but it can be rooted using the stock recovery too right ?
Did u try flashing another Stock ROM's for your region aside from the firmware that you're using ? Since the region of my phone is Philippines , so the latest firmware for Galaxy Y (Philippines) is GINGERBREAD.DXLC1 (The one with ICS-Style lockscreen(We often see this on Galaxy SII's phone or Galaxy Note from a Samsung Mobile store))
**** happens. Reflash whole of Stock ROM from Doky's post and root using stock recovery.
yeah...i was thinhing the same...i'll flashing it tonight.
i 've one small question. will something happen if i flash any older version or those which meant for other regions???like i've been a symbian user for years, incase i do this mistake it 'll brick my phone, an i've done it couple of times....
update: help me!!!!!can't revert to stock..... the message box in odin says write failed....

can you post here the exact things that you did? so that we can easily trace the error
if it shows failed. Disable your antivirus, if it can't be disabled, uninstall it. Stop kies too and it must work fine. If it doesn't work. Upload ss so that we can understand it
I flashed the latest GSM small 4.0.4 update on stock rom using cwm, but forgot to use RootKeeper app, and of course I lost root . Any way to bring it back? Thanx.
PS: I did remove the recovery folder from the update before flashing, come recovery still installed.

If you still have CWM installed, then just download this and flash it in CWM. Done.
Hi
My phone is rooted and I have the OTA update of JB 4.1 installed . Today i got an System Update from Google and when i clicked restart and install , my phone rebooted in recovery mode of ClockworkMod, then i saw that the update has failed .
I restarted my phone and when i saw that version it is 4.1 and when i selected check for update is says my phone is up to date ?
Please let me know how can i get the update from google now ?
Thanks
??
Manually flash the OTA in the release section. You have to be on stock everything (with the exception of root and an unlocked bootloader) for the OTA to succeed i.e. you will need to have a stock recovery which by seeing that you booted into CWR, you don't have. You can simply boot into CWR rather than flash it e.g. fastboot boot NAME_OF_RECOVERY.img

Relating to flashing the stock recovery? Well you have to be on ICS to update to JB...and assuming your bootloader is already unlocked, you shouldn't lose any data when flashing the stock recovery, radio or bootloader.
I am already on JB. I got via rom from here (xda). So i will need to go back to ics. Is that it?

hi, i have a galaxy nexus with cyanogenmod 9 whick is android 4.0.4 (i did not flash it, it came with that rom) and i want to let the gnex in stock to get the jellybean update...
the thing is , i have seen a lot of guides but really it is too much, i was installing the drivers and then i saw the 100000 steps extra that i needed to do, and i just dont wanna do that lol... then i found the gnex toolkit (seems a lot easier) and there is an option to go back to stock, but i dont know if that works to go back from a rom like cyanogen or it just work for phones with stock roms that are rooted and with unlocked bootleader.
go ask in the toolkit thread since you are lazy.
You can use Wugfresh's toolkit to revert your GN to stock, and it will even give you the option to select which build you want, it would download it for you, follow the on screen instructions. You need unlock bootloader to flash stock, you can always lock it though.

thanks for your answer, i'll download it.. i guess i have unlocked bootloader since this gnex is running cyanogen...
edit: thanks to that toolkit i was able to easily upgrade to jellybean without knowking much about this stuff.. thank you!! this thread can be closed now!!
Hi everyone,
My HTC Sensation went to hell and my friend from T-Mobile had a brand new SII around so he gave it to me. I know the Sensation inside and out but have no knowledge of the SII so I was hoping someone could point me to a thread that will tell me how to root on my specific baseband.
Model: SGH-T989
Android Version: 4.0.4
Baseband: T989UVLI1
Kernel: 3.0.8
Build: IMM76D.UVLI1
I tried searching "root UVLI1" and "root T989UVLI1" but only found someone saying they don't see why it won't root. Nothing concrete like "You can definitely root by following XXXXX's post."
Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

I use galaxy s ii toolbox to root mine from the dev section. Basically get everything installed and follow the prompts. You flash the recovery through oden, sideload root.zip then flash that in CWM recovery.
You need Odin to root. Very easy to do. Go to galaxy2root.com. You flash your custom recovery thru Odin. Then you flash Supersu via your new recovery. The site gives you step by step instructions

This was the only guide I found with working links. And if you have any questions just ask...I've had both devices and this one really is a lot easier to root and unroot, actually almost the same process. This phone is easy once you do it so here you go http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2195283

Okay, so you have all personally used the Odin recovery with UVLI1 baseband? I just don't want to use the method on a newer baseband and have problems.
EDIT: And thank you for the responses!
EDIT 2: Actually, I'll just try it out. I feel like I'm starting to be a hassle. I apologize.
If your running Jelly Bean the instructions will state which recovery to use. If you are unsure just Google "how to root T-Mobile Galaxy s2 via Odin".
And yes....I have used Odin many times to root my phone and my friends.
Let us know when ya get rooted. Plenty of good ROMs for the S2.

yep I did that, went to galaxy2root.com and I rooted my gs2 without problems, yes the site gives you everything just make sure to pick your right device
Rooted!
Thanks everyone! I truly appreciate all of you taking the time to answer my questions!
The website was actually galaxys2root.com (with an 's', in case someone else reads this thread in need of help) and the process went smoothly--far smoother than when rooting the Sensation. I don't think I'll ever purchase an HTC phone again.
Now time to check out some ROMs!!!
P.S. My join date is November 2011. When I try to edit, I get a message that says I have to wait five minutes and "All new user accounts will be verified by moderators before this restriction is removed." How long does it take before they verify my account? It's been about 15-16 months lol.
Not a problem. Glad you got rooted with no problems.
If you like TW Jelly Bean ROMs you need to see Jedi Jelly. Very nice rom.

Hahahaha yes I ate the "s" as well, but nice to know you are rooted, now ROMs its something else,I recommend the ones with ICS base for a start, I used JMT for long time without problems
