[Q] How can I flash a modem into my Note II? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm in Thailand, which is no custom flashable modems, and I want to flash my country's modem. How can I do it? Can I pull modem.bin from ROM's zip and flash it via Odin?

Anyone?

If you are rooted you can extract as you said and flash .bin file with Mobile Odin.
Or if you PM me modem.bin I can make a cwm flashable zip for you

Do you know where the modem.bin is?

I have the same situation,
I am using ATT note 2 but want N7105 international note 2 stock rom but keep ATT modem,
which file I need to swap in from the original rom to the N7105 rom?
---------- Post added at 05:49 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:34 AM ----------
or another way of saying is I wanted to keep the baseband but use international stock rom,

You need the modem.bin file. Extract from ROM tar file using 7zip and replace with modem.bin of choice

will this change the baseband ?

I have the same problem, I have the modem.bin file which for my Canadian Rogers network, just want to know how can I flash to my phone using odin?

If you are rooted you can flash the bin file with Mobile Odin. Quickest and easy.
Or find a cwm flashable modem and replace the modem.bin in the zip with yours. Then flash with cwm

Which file is kernal in stock package, how to to flash in Odin?

My brother has a At&t gs3 that needs to be sent for warranty. He still has stock firmware except that it's rooted and has a custom recovery. I assume all he has to do is flash the stock kernal to get rid of root and recovery, right? I Downloaded DLK3 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1968625. The packed contents show 2 .img files, boot.img and recovery.img. Can these be flashed in odin, and is the boot.img the kernal and the recovery.img the recovery? I know that at least from the previous galaxy s models that the kernal was around 5.3 mb. But I may have mistakenly though that the recovery was part of the kernal.

Thank you for your reply. There is a guide to flash the complete package using odin. However, I am not trying to do that. Because where he is currently at, he does not have the bandwidth to download the 730+mb package, thus I am trying to just get him access to the kernal/recovery, so that he can flash that using Odin.

You will be flashing a .tar file in odin. Look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33570269#post33570269

Yes. I am able to download that file, but he is not. It's too big. Is there a way to flash just the kernel/recovery, pulled from this archive?

A different recovery can be flashed with the .img file through a terminal emulator on the phone. I am unsure about flashing anything else.
Okay, i found a couple tutorials on making odin flashable files, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1484304 and http://www.sxtpdevelopers.com/showthread.php?t=155. I'm just not sure which of the files in the stockfirmware package is the kernel. I'm used to zImage, but don't see that in the list. There is a boot.img whish is 5.48mb, so i assume this is it, but not sure.

The boot.img is separate from the kernel. DO NOT mess with that.. you will definitely brick the phone.. Im no expert on any of this, but really the best way to go about this is with Odin. There is a mobile version of Odin in the play store. Mobile ODIN
Not sure if this is useful to you guys.

[Q] Stock rom without a computer

Is there any way to unroot this phone or flash the stock rom, rooted or unrooted, without a computer. The mini usb does not function so anything involving a computer is not an option. I just bought this phone and it came rooted but I need to activate it on my account and the ## codes aren't working
Mobile Odin

Flash the modem in cwm first. Mobile odin wont flash them.

Flashing the modem isn't necessary as the .tar contains the rom, kernel, and modem.

Using Mobile Odin will not flash the modem, that is why patrao said to flash the modem with CWM then use Mobile Odin to flash the tar.

Sorry but I haven't had an android phone in a while so I'm a little confused. There are two files when I click on the link do I flash just the tar file or both the exe and tar file? Also where do I find the modem file? Thanks for any replies I have managed to restore the phone to stock and get it working and I am still rooted as well
If you are going to use mobile odin then use the tar. The exe is for your computer. Thr modems can be found in rwilcos website just got to look.

Have you tried flashing the full official firmware? I understand you were told that you need a pit file, but it's likely flashing the firmware from sammobile would fix you right up.

[how-to] flash modem/baseband from phone

I have the a way to install baseband if you are rooted, custom, or even on cyanogenmod like I was. When i tried to flash the NE6 baseband i could not get it to work for the life of me. I wanted to flash without PC. This is the little guide I came up with and will post links also so it it easier.
1. Download a Stock NF1 Custom rom. Also download Triangle Away, Rashr, Mobile Odin, Stock Kernel and recovery, and the Modem + NON-HLOS for NF1 Thanks @toastido @Chainfire @DsLNeXuS
2. Now flash stock NF1 rom via custom recovery
3. Once on NF1 firmware and NF1 stock kernel you must flash NF1 stock recovery. I did the via Rashr app
4. Now that you are fully (kernel, rom, recovery) stock rooted you can use triangle away to reset your flash counter
5. Boot back up and use mobile odin to flash NF1 baseband and viola! Updated baseband without having to connect to a computer.
IF THIS HELPED DON'T FORGET TO HIT THANKS.
Thnx, but really, I can wait till I'm around a PC. That's quite the process
Thanks man. No problem. I had to do this as I was on cyanogen and didn't have a PC on hamd

Great instructions but I just have one question regarding the modems. So which modem zip do I need to extract before flashing with Mobile Odin? The Modem only zip or the Modem NonHlos zip? And if so, in Mobile Odin, which one is Modem #1 and Modem #2?
