I have 3 Note II's in my family (all N7100), and they all make this hissing sound when playing music through the back speaker. I have also noticed the hissing sound during the ripple effect on lock screen. So I just want to know, has anybody NOT experienced this on their Note 2 or is my family just unlucky? Thanks

So I take it the 'hissing' sound is common to all Galaxy Note II's?

Hi All,
I listened to a Note 2 today using my Bose QC15's though the sound quality (clarity) is way better than my Note 1, it still does not have the output volume of the Apple devices ( I have had to keep a iphone for music purposes). I'm quite disappointed. Running volume at max is just not loud enough.
It seems all Android phones have this issue. I have tired all kinds of software solutions with the GN1 but never got the sound quality or volume I desired.
Anyone with the note 2 found a solution?
Install:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...m1vYmkub21lZ2FjZW50YXVyaS5TcGVha2VyQm9vc3QiXQ..
On the device start the Music player >Settings>Sound Alive>Custom>Extended>Bass to 3>Room Size to 2>Claeity to 1.
The subject line really got my attention because just last night my wife and I were talking about how loud tgis phone is. Hands down louder than any other I've ever owned. I even had to lower the volume because at max it was blaring.

I've had no issues with the volume. It causes the whole phone to vibrate due to how loud it is. Maybe you have an option ticked somewhere?

Can't you just up the volume on the Bose?

Use an external headphone amp. Fiio is great.

if your phone rooted, then increase db value of headphones via default_gain.conf /system/etc

...so, according to your logic, a phone can vibrate due to the loudness of a pair of headphones. xD
In any case, I'm wondering if this issue is related to Jellybean and all... Seems to be a common problem that is shared between various devices. 0_0.
I recommend to ditch the bose crap tbh. They're good speakers but dire headphones. Take a look at the Sennheiser HD range. I recommend the 598's or 558's if on a budget.

Once voodoo Sound finds our device, the Sound Quality will be best possible, since we have the wolfson dac! Same as i9000 (afaik).

I doubt about that. Supercurio sayed that s3 will get voodoo sound but after 3 months still no info....
Great replies!
I'll try the volume boost app. I had tried volume + amongst others but always found the sound quality degraded badly.
The suggestion regarding the fiio amp, yes for my note 1 already have a fiio e11 which is amazing and can drive any headphones but carrying a GN1 or 2 with it rubber banded to the back is simply too bulky.
Getting rid of the bose qc15? I commute 3 hours a day, and fly regularly so the noise cancellation is a god send, I've tried many alternatives but never found a better solution.
There is no doubt in my mind that the note, both 1 and 2 are the best phones out there. Way more useful and fun than an iphone, I just wish Samsung would sort out the volume level through headphones as it is the one area which I feel is compromised.

You're wrong. There has been a port for both S3 and the Note 2. S3 was by Gokhan, siyah kernel and now the Note 2 by Andrei, Perseus kernel. It's script based

Samsung have put a limit to 55db on max volume, if want louder, root and change the limit. Or use sounds apps and boost the volume.
For me its loud enough, too high volume can damage you ears in long terms listening and either I got good ears. Or peoples have damage theirs ears by iPhones volumes already.

I just wanted to post that the above mod perfectly sorted out the volume issue.
Using the 57 values has made me extremely happy with the volume levels.
Now with the volume, quality dac inside the GN2 and a good global equaliser it far exceeds the experience of my Iphone for music.

The speaker is loud, and frankly quite amazing, but the problem is with headphone volume.
I'm using Sennheiser PXC450s and WMA files are not quite loud enough for me on max volume. Most MP3 files are loud enough, in fact max volume is too much. However this is with zero ambient noise. Sound clarity is very impressive.
Hello everyone,
Just a quick question, I just purchased a Note II, I'm coming from a Galaxy SII, and regardless of the supposed "poor" sound quality on it I find the Note II sound to be too quiet and to have a big lack of bass, is it normal? Do you people owners of a Note II feel the same or is my unit faulty in that sense? For example my car stereo has an aux in 3.5 mm jack which I used to play music with my SII and now I do it with my NII but there's a huge difference in volume and bass response with the same setting in both phones, volume at maximum and the note II sound so quiet, if anyone could help me I would appreciate it a lot, Btw just to comment, the rest regarding the phone is just awesome, no other bad that I have seen or noticed..
Is anyone going to answer? Please, could anyone tell me if I've got a faulty device or is it normal? Thanks
So I've just had my S3 for one month, but I've recently noticed that videos I've recorded with this device have some distortion in the audio. I'm not talking about concert videos where obviously the volume is so loud. Just normal everyday videos.
For example in several videos where people are a reasonable distance (several feet) from the phone, it seems like the audio input gain is so high that the speakers on my earphones are distorted sometimes while people are speaking. In comparison, I don't have this problem when listening to videos recorded with my old S2.
Anyone have the same issue?

What ROM are you running (If any)? It could be coming from it or even from kernel.
Also, do you have any apps that have control over your mic?

Running the stock JB update from Bell, but rooted. I don't think I have any apps that interfere with the mic. Even with volume at 1 or 2, you can notice the problem. However, it's only obvious with the earphones on.

Could it be that your earphones speakers have gone bad? Or is it there (just not as noticable) without them?

No, because as I said the S2 videos were fine, and I use these earphones all the time for music (sometimes played loud). I wonder if it's a mic issue with my device or a general issue with the S3.

Ah ok, didn't know you tried earphones on both. My guess is your mic, I never had that issue personally nor have I seen it around here.
I wonder if there's a way to control the mic's strenght, perhaps that could help yours if you don't wanna either replace the mic or go for warranty.

I can't take it to warranty as I bought it secondhand (the guy is unreachable now) and I'm on Rogers but with a Bell-purchased phone.
I just tried with another set of earphones and notice the same distorting effect. I notice the problem mostly takes place in the left speaker.. Hmm.. I wonder if it has anything to do with the placement of my thumb and the proximity of the left mic when recording. I'll have to do some more testing when I get home.
Hello,
well, since yesterday I've switched to Samsung Galaxy Note II from Samsung Galaxy SIII and what is strange is that the audio output through the 3.5 mm audio jack on the Note is very silent compared to the one on SIII, I mean the SIII is like 3 times louder than Note on this one? Though the phone speaker output is probably louder on the Note II. So any ideas on this? Is it particularly my Note II or is it the usual scenario for all Notes?
Can there something be done about it? I mean even if download a volume booster, it will probably boost both: the audio jack and the phone speaker output, which could lead to damaging my phone speaker eventually?
Any solutions to this problem? I
What file are you listening to? Is it a MP3, FLAC or a movie?
Obvious, but did you make sure to turn the volume up on note2? Samsung has a habit of making its phones and tablets default to half volume when you plug something in.

All of them
External Speaker output through audio jack very low
I got that problem too on my Note II, So is there any solution for that to increase the Volume when we connect to the output speaker through the 3.5mm jack (Aux)

I think that you may have a defective pair of Airpod Pros. You can also see if there is new firmware. Even though I also have an iPhone, I've never been able to update.
I use them with my Note 10+ as well & even when mowing the lawn on a lawn tractor (very loud) if a call comes in, people on the other end hear me loud & clear & I hear them well too). Before I turn off the mower, I've asked every caller if they can hear me well & they all say yes! I hear music loud & clear with Active Noise cancelation on.
I don't know if this will help the volume but I'd try the tips in this video, can't hurt.

Even try unpairing & repairing them. I use 2 Android apps. Material Pods & Assistant Trigger. You don't need both and they won't help your problem, just nice Apple-like battery info functionality.
