How hard would this be... When you slide to the contact list in the phone app, to actually open to the people app?

I searched for a solution for this and I hope this has not been covered. I bought my wife a 3g slide and she loves it...I think it its pretty cool too...but here is my issue she has only her T-Mobile contacts visible and they are all synced w/ Facebook. But when she uses the messaging app ALL of her Facebook friends that included a number on their info become click-able...very annoying!
Is there a way to tun this off without losing the functionality of having the phone contacts synced...? Said another way her contact app works great b/c the FB contacts are hidden (there is an option to only show certain contacts) ....but when using the messaging app they are ALL visible there is NO option to only show certain contacts.
Any advice would be appreciated...I am a WinMo guy and this is out of my wheel house.
Go into contacts and hit menu...view and it'll give you a list of contact groups to show/hide...

I have already done that...I think you misunderstood my question. The issue is not with the contact app...I have the unwanted contacts hidden there. The problem is when I tap try to compose a new text meassgae...then it displays ALL the Facebook contacts....maybe there is no way to hid them on the messaging app?
Edit: I guess it it is not problem to initiate a new text message from the contact app...but it would be nice if there was a away to hide the FB contacts in the MESSAGING app...

As far as I know the only way to do such a thing would be to disable Facebook contact sync.

That is what I thought...no big deal...if anyone know a way let me know.
Although I have only selected phone contacts, when I press the 'contact' button in Messaging -> New message all my SIM contacts show up (IE DOUBLES).
Android seems to have bugs / annoyances a plenty and this is another one.
Apparently this isn't a new problem: http://androidforums.com/samsung-ca...contacts-sim-text-messaging-contact-list.html
GAH Android... I am trying hard to like you but you make it so difficult.
Hello,
On a stock unrooted EVO 4G, I have a new issue with Google talk not notifying me when a certain contact messages me. Others will, but a specific contact, who was hidden from my viewable list, and still showed notifications when they messaged me, all of the sudden I am no longer notified. No led, mp vibrate, no sound, no icon up top. I basically have to open their chat window to see if they've written anything.
Anyone know how to bring my alerts back? I've tried hard reset, clearing app cache and messing with notifications.
Anyone help?
It's getting really annoying, every ROM I flash, it appears. I've tried few things to clear from switching to Google Voice, to sending myself a voicemail, and then reading it to get the notification away but nothing helps..any suggestions?
Are you deleting the voice mails? I've never had an issue with the voicemail icon sticking. Every time I get a voicemail i listen to it and either save it or delete it by pressing "7" on the dial pad. Another solution would be to change the voicemail notification icon to a transparent image.

Voice mail notification
Hi,
I have the same problem here. It seems to be linked to Gmail account, as it appears on two separate phones as soon as I set up Gmail account. I wil try to do some more investigation. I deleted ALL voicemails from my Google Voice and the notification is still there. Restart of the phone does not renove it. Any settings changes in the Google Voice seem not to affect the notification. Maybe Gmail settings?
Did anybody found a workaround? It is annoying as it takes one more line of the notifications and I get a lot of texts, e-mails and ebay notifications and I would like to see as many as possible just by sliding down thenotification bar.
Thanks
Running Galaxy S2 T-mobile with 4.0.4 stock.
try downloading VisualVoicemail on the market and open it up see if its giving you any new notifications in there if so delete from the app and should be good to go after that its what i use to make sure they dont hang on my bar
I used to have a mytouch 4G and liked it, recently upgraded to the Galaxy S3, love it. Now my problem is, the only reason I put a password on my phone is to protect my text messages. I used to use the Go SMS on my mt4G but now the pictures don't show up on the contacts on any of the apps I have tried to use, such as Handcent and Go SMS. And it really bothers me...anyway to fix it or put a password on stock messaging? And another question, I'll start a different thread for it too. Don't mind the password, since it protects my phone, but is it possible for my camera to bypass the thing and just go straight to it and require no password? Like the iPhone, then ask for the password when I'm trying to exit out or look at the gallery, quick function type thing. Thanks in advance for viewing or answering or..anything! cheers.
