JB (CM10, AOKP) vs Arconium 5???? - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, guys Im confused, I dont know if CM10 is really that fast... I tried CM10 for like 30 mins and came back to arconium 5, the rom I tried isn't that super-fast rom that many ppl say... I dont feel any difference with arconium 5(based on stock rom)
Does it really worth flashing it? I mean my phone is 100% functional, looks great and its smooth and fast (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33740301&postcount=1503) also the audio quality is great, but for CM10 the only mod I find is AcidSoundMod and to me it just make the audio worst
If Jelly Bean (CM10) is really that fast and smooth then maybe it worth the sacrifice of sound, appearance and functionality!...?
Dont take it bad, I'm just asking, also can someone please give me the link or tell me which Jelly Bean rom should I use, I really want to see any difference with Arconium 5

There are more JB based roms than just CM10.

i think a bit different
FROYO was the worst for defy
GB was very good
ICS is definitely the best ( some exceptions though )
JB - maybe it would be even better

I totally agree that Froyo was the worst, it's so slow and ugly :silly: Gingerbread was a huge improvement and Ice Cream Sandwich is an even bigger improvement, but at the moment not all the power of it can be harnessed by our DEFY, so I'd say that Gingerbread is the best. But Motorola is to blame for that, cause with those proper custom kernels, ICS would be flying So, if no way for custom kernels to run arises, I'm guessing that troubles with missing libraries will be even bigger with Jelly Bean, so we might just not even see a CM based on JB for DEFY
Found the Jellybean wallpapers and the new bootanimation over at Android authority!
>>>>>Android Jelly Bean Goodies<<<<<
Has anyone tried the new Jelly Bean VoiceSearch/GoogleQuickSearchBox on our ICS builds yet? I've been searching all over, no-one has yet to post it. You guys had any luck?
I've just tried Jelly Bean on Galaxy Nexus, it's way more faster than ICS because it has this Project Butter (newer hwa) which makes UI constant on 60FPS, so no more UI lags!
Jelly Bean is based on ICS so there won't be so much trouble about porting it because we already have ICS
I think the main question would be whether Project Butter will run with our Froyo/GB Kernel we have to stick with?!
This is one of Epsylon3's posts on Google+. He's just awesome!
Thats great !!
He can takes his time, we will apreciate it very much anyway.
defy developers are really making effort.
I didn't see that on any other device forums
The efforts have been fruitful since the long study made by our developers . They made it easy . since once you get to know how things work . and how the ideas are and what kernel functions and codes u shd be actually knowing . It becomes lots easy for implementation

it will awesome for all of us , if it happened some how , our developers are best of all others ,
we were just given eclair , we had froyo(modded roms) , GB roms ( best and great performance ) , and we had ICS all good , except some issues due to locked bootloaders, otherwise we at this time could had best ICS rom Available ....... developers are trying their best working day & night for us ,
I am sure that we all will have jelly bean ,( not fully functional though ), but our great developers will make it happen for us all .......
once this Bootloader thing gets solved some how , can't say how ,
we gonna have rocking roms with overall best performance than all the device present in this xda forum ...... and i can bet on this ......
atlast thanks to all the developers of DEFY & DEFY PLUS .......

Whats Better

Hey Guys whats better my cousin keeps on bugging me and he dosen't like my oppinion so I'll aks you guys instead so that he'll finally stop so
What do you guys think
AOKP or HTC Sense?
Better in what way?
To me its all a matter of preference. I've never been able to stand a Sense ROM more than a week.

Overall Performance and the Camera Quality
Again, its a matter of preference. Some people like Cameras apps from other ROMs, or off the market. Performance is a mixed bag too. I never had much luck with Sense 3.0 or 3.5 ROMs with performance, but other people say it works flawless.
Just give him the advice that probably 90% of the people here would: try them out and find out what works for you.
But if your looking for an opinion... the best cameras I've used have been in sense roms, but other than for the camera I can't stand sense, never cared much for eye candy.
I prefer speed and stability so I would say the best is aosp, aokp, cm, even miui. But never sense... again just adding my 0.02$

Thankyou alot guys now I could review for my tests on Monday
If you're talking bout something at the level of ICS 4.0.4, then I would say 'performance' wise AOKP is going to be better in general, not as much 'eye-candy' and such you'd get from Sense. (As far as I know, no Sense ICS rom has a working camera yet).
But if you're talking Gingerbread and earlier, it's really going to depend on the custom Rom. For example AOKP is most likely going to out perform a stock sense install, but a custom Sense Rom could be on par.
Guess it depends on where your priorities are, do you need more eye candy, or are you aiming more for raw performance/functionality?

There are some ICS Roms that have camera and camcoreder working on the DZ, like Ice Cream Jibwich and AOKP bulids for vision (those were the only ROMS I got to try, so those are the only ones I know. )

ahh... well none yet but once the DHD gets that ICS update Dev's we'll get that Sense 4.0 camera up and running!
and hey why is that Kernel 3.0 from the DHD so important? the people from the Desire S forums have it already.
If ur cousin want a best camera yet performance out of it,get the xperia sense by taz instead..it doest use sense as launcher, but use xperia launcher which was really light..like running 17mb for me.. it's a fast yet with function of sense

[Q] Current Latest and Greatest Rom for Inc2

Hello everyone,
I'm new here and new to this scene, but familiar with hacking on other types of devices. My sis just upgraded her phone and gave me a Inc2. My first instinct was to hack it and so I ended up currently with a rooted S-off Inc2. My next issue is what Rom to use. I see so many out there and have had problems trying to install a couple. Since ther are so many, i know theres no clear cut "Latest and Greatest" but as i stand now, i have no clue where i should be looking. So I'm asking what u guys would consider latest and greatess. I'm really looking into going as high up in the OS as possible while also having the best stability with as much working as possible. Any Idea's?

What do you prefer? For ASOP, we have some very stable ICS CM9 ROM's and Stable CM10 Rom's. The CM10 ROMs don't have a working ffc camera or 720p camcorder, but everything else seems to work. For those who like sense, Nit's Sense 4 Viper Rom is quite nice. I typically change ROM's every two weeks, so i have tried quite a lot.
I vote for aeroevans CM10 or if you want ICS then Condemned Soul's Kangdemnation

Viperinc all da way

Well I'm not sure wether to go ASOP or Sense but from what i gather most ppl prefer ASOP, so I guess i would also. I generally would like to have everything working also.
Another thing thing would be that would i need to flash anything else besides the rom? Like kernels or anything?

Most of the op's have it spelled out exactly what to do , usually they include the kernel in the ROM
Btw : I think any of the still supported ROMs that you will find in the inc2 section are great I can't really quantify a ranking of them

Paranoid Android its a Phone/Tablet hybrid if you don't use the ffc or video that much it is my daily at the moment. "(11-4-2012)(JB)(CM10) Global 4.1.2 (4.2)" and "{10-25-2012}{Rom}{ICS} Official Global CM9" are pretty smooth running roms (I haven't had a chance to give build 3 of CM10 a try yet). "[ROM] [Port] Andromadus Mimicry 1.5 [CM9.1 Stable]" another very good ICS rom and very stable as well. Those are the ones I have been messing with the last couple of months. I think it is all in your tastes amigo. If you are a flashaholic like most of us I am sure you will try most of them.
ViperINC if you don't need BT audio. There are issues with the fact that the beats audio controls the BT audio and there is no output.

need advice to choose a custom rom

I know its kinda noob question but im really new to this scene (not to android) and had desire before so i really cant decide what custom rom to install. I need a close to stock custom maybe with some speed tweaks. Right now im leaning toward cm 10.0 and see a lot of other roms with similar options. Im asking here becouse besides the options the rom has for me its also important the stability and more to be from a trusted and active developer.
Just share your experience with the rom you use if u can i willl be thankfull just to get some orientation to the scene.
Do you also let people choose your favorite color or car manufacturer for you? Seriously, test drive some and see what works best for you?

wow what an answers. i simply asked and if u mind u simply dont have to answer. as for test drive not everyone has the time to play that much with flashing nor the will to try every rom out there. this place is for people to share experiences and like u smart as.s idiots to curse to everyone who whod dare to ask a noob question. if i didnt had respect for this place i wouldnt asked in Q.A and would of used development sections as many do. so if u have no intention helping someone just bugg of and mind your bussines
Well, according to your first post, CM is probably the rom for you; i still agree that you should test drive available roms. Some have more customisation options, others adopt a more debloated approach like aosp itself, and you can even build aosp by yourself!
I run a modified build of aosp put together by myself.

Rasbean Jelly is an excellent ROM, close to stock. Check out the Trnity Kernel thread. Rasbean+ Trinity, ftw !
hi. I also came from desire and so far I love the Galaxy Nexus. There's a great variety of ROMs here. So far I have tried a few, but if you are looking for a fast, stable one I would recommend Atom. I am currently on v1.25 for the maguro & I'm expecting the next version with jellybean 4.2 to drop shortly. I'm also using the Zen series kernel v7. I'm having stunning performance and battery life. over 4 hours of screen-on time with the latest kernel. it's a bit different from the other cm / aosp / aokp ROMs around. worth a shot!
alternatively, if you like 'darkness' you can try xblack. if you want to have hybrid options I.e. tablet interface on your nexus you can always give paranoid android a go. they willprobably update to 4.2 intheirlatest build expected to drop tonight anytime.
ps: haters gonna hate! ignore the un-friendlies! we all got to start somewhere.

just tried them both rasbean and atom and i like atom more but rasbean not bad also. ill try few more till a stable custom 4.2 comes around. desire scene was good but contagious it was easy to get a flashing mania and i guess this scene is also dangerous to become flash maniac not that i mind to
Well I was a flashaholic on the desire, simply because we never quite really had a stable experience on ICS and JB. So, it was a never ending quest to find a ROM (or upgrade) that was really stable and useful. Not to mention the countless issues with regards to space/sdcard/partitioning/hboot and what not!!!
I am just glad to be on Galaxy Nexus. There are some insane number of ROMs available. I try to stick to one for a couple of weeks at least and only then switch. I am now near that phase where I am itching to try something new. So, I am keeping my fingers dropped that ATOM drops the latest version (4.2) for maguro ... I know the dev already released a toro version (few days ago).
PS: You can always bookmark/subscribe to the ROM/Kernel Index (in my signature)

Bugless beast is my suggestion for essentially stock... CNA is my preference for a ROM with many customizations, but I don't believe either have a 4.2 build yet (could be wrong). Currently using MMuzzy's 4.2 ROM for my toro gnex and very pleased.

[Q] suggest the stable JB rom with most battery life for desire

searched the forum it has tremendous no. of roms i m getting confused.
which one should i select
must be a jellybean stable rom with highest battery life
thnx
Yes there are a lot of ROMs, but if you're going to go down this route, you should be willing try a few and find the right one for you
As for jellybean roms, you can look in the title if it has something like CM10 or 4.2.x in the title to find them. Or just click inside and read the first post to see what android base it uses.
As for 'highest battery life', that depends a lot on how you use the phone, and what you realistically expect. Someone suggesting here saying it has "amaaaazing batterrrrryyyyyyyy!" will likely use the phone differently than you, so is hardly useful. You need to try out a few ROMs and find which has better battery for your usage and setup, not someone else's....
If you want stability, Gingerbread ROMs are generally more stable than the Jellybean ones as well.

Well obviously a GB ROM is going to have better battery life than jb. With that being said I get about 3 hours of screen on time with WoH's PA ROM. Like eddie said, you should try a couple out and see which one works the best for you. We all use are phones differently so recommendations aren't really accurate.
