I unlocked using forever unlock v3 for galaxy nexus, which was supposed to keep my original IMEI, AND unlock forever.
But now I went to install momo a Chinese app, and it said I couldn't because I am not using my original IMEI below is what they said.
So is there anything I cna do here to restore original IMEI, or fool it somehow?
Thanks,
dadroidda.

2nd part.
Beamed from my Grouper.
Settings > About Phone > Status
Compare your IMEI there to what it says on the phone box to determine if your IMEI has indeed changed.
Edit: IMEI might also be under the battery IIRC.

I checked under my battery, and in fact yes my IMEI was changed...
So my IMEI was changed, to permanent unlock I used **** Docomo V3.1.
Is it at all possible to change my IMEI back??
I'm willing to return to a temporary unlock instead of permanent unlock if that is possible.
Temp sim unlock should cut it.
OK, how do I go about doing this? link?

Something to do with some grand theory stuff, not exactly sure of the thread name, but somewhere along that line.
Seriously! the guy is just asking for help mate!
dadroidda: There are few people, including me, having the same fault after updates in the last couple of months.
There is still NO method to fix it by flashing or software that I am aware of.
However, if you know a good mobile repair guy who'd have one of those "special" boxes, they can re-write your original imei from the box to the phone. Obviously, this would cost you money and it is illegal in some countries.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

Oddly i cant use the.phone on its original carrier but any other one. I think the problem is the generic IMEI but since i got it from some one else, they didnt make a back up of the original imei file so i could restore it. Im really frustrated and will appreciate any help. Thanks

Sptbox isn't here, and it's not free either. You have to buy the box and the software that goes with it. If you Google it, it should come up with better results.
someone could told me what are the default generic IMEI used on gnex??? I want to try to make them unavailable in my country if they arent yet.

I have restored mine with na octopus box and uart cable. I had to buy the box with Samsung activation + uart cable.
For me, it was a good deal because I will use the box for many other purposes. Ig you wanto to buy the box just to restore your IMEI, it might be too expensive.
Just Google it and you will know what we are talking about.
Hi there!
I recently discovered that my phone has totally no service after about 2 weeks flashing with V20F rom so I flashed back to Hong Kong stock gb rom. However, the phone cannot detect the sim card thus still no service and when I check the IMEI with *#06#, only a blank box appeared. I checked the efs folder and it was blank. As my phone was unrooted, I sent it to the service center. Just now, they called me and said that they my phone is rooted and the problem cannot be fixed (did they really try to fix it??!!) and needed to change the m/b which costs HKD2000!!!
My question is do I really need to pay for the m/b or are there any cheaper ways to recover the IMEI??? I have searched on the web but there seems to be no such tutorial for P930 or P936.
Oh and by the way, I am not sure if I have a backup of the efs folder as I once installed CWR.
Thank you for your help!

I had the same issue well the window saying 'No network or wrong IMEI' so I too will wait to see any responses and I only put those numbers in because I heard that it may open up the internet speed or stop the drop of wifi signal, just not sure of any of that lol

Hi! No luck! Unfortunately, the above solution requires some sort of chip which this P936 hasn't. I will give the phone to a local electronic store to see if they have any clues. Thanks anyway!
Hi
I bought an Optimus G for about 2 months ago unbranded and not carrier locked at local mobile store. Its sold now but im just curious what happened with it.
I came home and run an OTA and there was no update.
Then i downloaded LG Software Updater or what the name is from their homepage.
I plugged in my phone and there was an update? WTF. So i update the phone with it.
When phone restarts i saw instead of LG bootanimation i got an 3 Operator LOGO. HOW?
But my Tele2 card still worked no problem at all.
I called LG and they never heard something about that. Then they told me to return it but why it worked with Tele2.
Then i decide to sell it and person that buy it from me cant get his TELIA operator now work on it?
When i look at the baseband or version it was infected with E97510F-232-10 wich is an number for Operator 3.
Tryed to reflash it with other but E97510F-232-10 remains and not changing.
But why cant he use TELIA right now. He tried 2 different SIM Cards?
OK found the problem.
He is missing imei. He just seing a 0 (ZERO)
WTF. I forgot to backup the IMEI.
Anyway to fix it or just send it to LG for repair

hmm what i know from 3 is that they have their own software sometimes, ino from older phone, they had a habbit of using power faster then stock software, so many ppl got their 3 phones flashed with normal software.

Lock in eBay, offer the remote imei repair
Since you're rooted, Samsung won't even reflash it. Sucks.
S6 Edge
The only way for a user to restore their IMEI is to have done a backup originally before attempting to do any changes.
You need to take the device go the carrier for repair.
Altering changing or manipulating IMEI numbers on devices is illegal in some places and not something allowed for discussion on XDA.

Hello! I upload a capture of all the errors. I'm very interested in solving the IMEI. Thanks for your help!
On stock firmware does it show a correct IMEI?
If so, the problem is random flashing.
Do you have backup of the .cert and or .efs files?
If so, search on how to use them.
If you know the IMEI and it is network blacklisted, use a service for unlocking it. Online you can find it.
I hope I helped.

I don't know if it helps, but when I flashed a Combination for my phone, when i had an unknown IMEI, it showed me one working and network working too but I don't know if you can make use of that IMEI or even if it is valid.
And solved my unknown IMEI just by flashing last stock rom.
If you have your phone rooted, you can extract those files via adb, plenty of tutorials online.

The combination "os" is not a full os, is like a test one, so i would not recommend you to install it.
Here you can find it, the page need you to be registered and to pay for a fastest download, none the less, it can be downloaded without paying but it is a little bit slower

Remember that you need XXU4

Slide the upper menu and get to config, in device info or something you should find an IMEI and you probably have noticed that the phone is connected to the network, or that was what was shown to me.

Hm what is left is just to flash stock, keep it in a wifi connection 168 hours and then flash twrp for rooting the phone and getting those files, lets hope they are not corrupted.
The waiting it is because samsung have seven days as the time.for the bootloader to be unlocked and allowing the phone to be modified.
Good luck.
Also, if you are interested in more details about the waiting for rooting:
