[Q] Nand wipe and reset - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hello all,
I see that Odin has a NAND erase all function i believe something is wrong with my NAND so i need to start all over. Can someone help me out with all the proper files that i need?
Reason i need my NAND erased:
1. I did a Nand restore and it only restored half way because it failed at the data.
2. no matter what i flash, stock rom, rooted rom, anything, i get two problems when i reboot my phone
1. Hands on activation comes on and does not complete because it can not update profile
2. Chameleon and Email both crash as soon as i start my phone.
Also, what is Chameleon? i have no clue if it is something important.
Please help!!

[Q] My Gnex won't stop rebooting

Hi guys
I just changed my color of everything in recovery mode. My phone has been trying to start up for 40 minutes! I don't know what to do. Can I remove the battery and try to turn it on again? I just want it to startup.
Thanks
i guess you are stuck in a bootloop. you should have made a backup, did you?
I'm not really sure what a backup is? I have titanium, and clockwork I believe on my phone. I have changed the os a few times. Please explain to me what a backup is
Backup (Nandroid) is a part of clockworkmod recovery.
usually before you flash anything that changes the system files, you should make a backup (takes less than 5 minutes). just in case something goes wrong with the file you flashed, so you can revert back to how the phone was before the backup.
are you stuck at the splash screen or bootanimation?
I just removed the battery, and I put it back in and it's doing it again... I hope it starts up.
You are the fifth person I saw having this problem today. Something is not right here...
I am guessing chrome beta is causing this. I didn't get a chance to do factory restore yet as I want to backup my data files first when I get home.
But someone said data wipe and factory restore do not help...

i highly doubt that Chrome for Android is the source of the problem.

I am on stock rom without root. There wasn't any issue before and installing chrome was the only thing I did yesterday.
By changing the color what do you mean? Flashed a theme?

I did the red sensation

which process did you use to root your phone?
So basically something from that theme didn't install correctly and is not allowing your phone to boot.
When making any changes to anything it is always wise to make a nandroid backup. If you made a nandroid you could restore that and you would be fine.
Since you didn't you have 2 options.
Option 1) Flash the current rom you were running with just a dalvik cache wipe and hope that it boots back up. If it does not you will have to do option 2.
Option 2) Wipe both data and cache and then flash a rom. You will lose all of your data but, you will then have a working phone.
I installed the chrome earlier today, a few hours later i got stuck in reboot loop. I use adb pull to get a copy of important data.
factory reset doesnt work. when i try to flash an earlier image of my phone, it fails at restoring 'data'

Have you tried a wipe from cwm?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
i wiped data/cache/dalvik and still nothing.
:'(
anyone please, i dont know whats happening
Now that you've wiped it, you won't be able to make a nandroid anyway, you'd be backing up... nothing. When you say you can't restore a nandroid, what exactly is happening when you try? Do you try to restore an existing nandroid and an error stops the process? Does CWM not find any nandroids that should be there? Have you ever restored to a nadroid before that you know there *should* be one that works?
Based on what you've written here I'd suggest just restoring to factory installation and picking up the pieces from there. Before you do, you can try to backup what's on your phone using the command "adb pull /sdcard". If you have a nandroid that might be good but for some reason unusable by your phone right now, it will be copied and you can try to restore it after reverting to factory settings. Otherwise, it should pull off any personal stuff like your photos etc so it's not a total loss.
If you're on a GSM Nexus, follow instructions here.
If you're on a CDMA Nexus, follow instructions here.
It is really the exact same process for either, but you want to make sure you've got the right set of files. This will basically leave you where you were when you first unlocked the bootloader.

yeah, i ended up unrooting and flashing factory image back. but i did however root and unlock bootloader again.
now, whenever i finish flashing my new rom. it gets stuck looping on the boot animation, not the google logo. is there any reason behind this? could it relate back to what happened before?

When you say "it gets stuck", how long are we talking here? Sometimes, depending on what you just wiped/what you're flashing, the phone will just take a longer time to boot. If you assume something's wrong and pull the battery you might just mess it up when really you just needed to be patient and let it finish.
These are probably questions best addressed in threads for specific ROMs, though, where people might have had similar experiences, or the ROM dev might be able to use your feedback. It's especially hard to formulate an opinion that might be useful when you provide barely any specific information to what you're working with.

[Q] Stuck at logo after restore to stock ROM

Newbie here.
My SGH-T989 was getting stuck at Samsung logo during bootup [tried everything else before odin] so I used Odin (both ver 1.85 and ver 3.09) to flash the phone using stock ROM (4.1.2 from sammobile.com). However it never gets out of the stuck mode so I tried even the older ICS version. The phone still remained stuck so I went back to 4.1.2 version. Again, no change. Tried all these few times and everytime the ROM flashing succeeds but the phone doesn't bootup.
I DON'T want to do a factory reset yet because I want to retrieve the contacts and pictures. So I did research and got contradictory info hence simple newbie questions.
1. By flashing it with stock ROM using odin, did I loose my contacts, pictures etc? I believe the answer is NO. Please confirm.
2. If I root my phone is there a chance that I may be able to recover the phone. It is likely that my stock ROM was just fine from the beginning but something else like an app is causing a problem. In that case even rooting the phone may not change anything. Is this likely or am I missing something?
3. If I attempt to do a custom recovery using CWM or TWRP, is there a chance that I may be able to retrieve my contacts and pictures? Or have I already lost them?
Thanks in advance.
Jay
You will not loose your pictures, they are stored in your phone's Internal SD and WILL NOT be deleted with a factory reset. I do believe, however, that by returning to stock with ODIN, you have lost all of your contacts unless you synched them with google.
The only way to loose your pictures is by formatting (not factory resetting) your phone
I think that's what's causing your problem, you need to do a FULL WIPE and then install a ROM for it to work properly. I do think all your contacts are lost though, so might as well go for it.
Again, your pictures are all safe, you can even enter recovery mode and mount as USB to recover them if you have any doubt.

Totally wiped my samsung galaxy sm-t111nq device. HELP!!!!

hello everyone,
recently i wanted to upgrade my Samsung galaxy tab 3, model:sm-t111nq device to see if it would install the telephony functionality on my device because it was running on a customized stock firmware (from samsung i guess) with no telephony functionality which means i can't make or receive calls. I flashed the firmware with odin two times but it got interrupted the second time, so it couldn't boot up. i searched for solutions on the internet, any time i tries to flash the firmware using odin it stops at file analysis and every time i try flashing with recovery it says "E:/ could not mount system" or something like that, then i installed twrp recovery to see if i could remove the firmware and flash it again still the same error. Now this is where i messed up, I initially wanted to just wipe the cache completely at first following a solution online but after doing this it still didn't work and so i felt i needed to wipe more than just that, and with no backup i went ahead to wipe the whole thing including EFS, system, data, preload, i basically selected all the boxes there :crying:. now i really dont know what to do seems like i'm the only one that messed up this bad. Please help me out. Can i use the back up of another of the same type of device to restore it and get it running. Please help, just wanna use it again even if its not gonna come with the complete functionalities.

Twrp android 12 failing super backup no error??

Hi all
I would be grateful for some advise. This is my first phone with a dynamic partition for system and when I try to backup super in twrp it always fails with no error code at all.
I can't seem to find much support and would be grateful for some help to troubleshoot this please. Everything works apart from that- fully rooted etc no issues.
Also, on a side, would I need to restore system if I wanted to restore to a precious backup or would just data suffice? When my phone in the past has borked I have always restored data, boot, recovery and system to get back to a previous state.
Thanks everyone
