Miui Jelly bean Project for Xperia S(rom released chick devolpment thread) - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

hii guys
after CM 10 geting almost full working i'v decide to port Miui jelly bean for xperia S based on it
but i need some help from you guys
__
so if anyone can give a help pleas tell me
for now the rom didnt boot yet im still trying to know why
any body know how i can make logcat for the rom booting !!?

Which MIUI ROM do you use for porting? Only Nexus devices have Jelly Bean? I think Galaxy Nexus is the least bad.

i was on galaxy nexus now im trying the nexus s but bouth give me bootlop !! if you recomnded a device tell me because im not sure what device to use as base

For 2011 devices we use nexus s, but as Xperia S is XHDPI, I recommend Galaxy nexus.
Please get in touch with thetrisatria, he's the unofficial MIUI jelly bean expert

I tried galaxy nexus but the Rom didnt boot!! Stock on miui bootanimation I need to edit framework.jar

is any body here knows how to make logcat ?! system debug !!??
i want to know why the rom do not boot up

Hey sparxx
I've also tried to port MIUI Jelly Bean, even though I'm not experienced with porting and cooking at all. I have found this great guide where most of my knowledge about porting comes from.
To get the logcat of your booting device you need adb (included in the android SDK), and a PATH to platform-tools.
Open cmd.exe and execute 'adb logcat'
If you execute 'adb logcat >logcat.txt' you'll get your logcat as a .txt file.
Be aware of the big experience gap between knowing how to get a logcat and porting a ROM, though.
I'd be glad to help with this project, good luck.

I use the qtabd tool for logcat, has a friendly ui.
@jaapp, looks like I didn't help you further
Can you point out which file exactly gives you errors?
Via Tapatalk

I suggest a change of plans:
Maybe try to use HTC Sensation MIUI V4.1, it has the same CPU, so probably less fiddling with decompiling stuff is needed.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1841196
They used Crespo as base though, so maybe the screen res doesn't matter, but CPU is more important.

All we need someone with knowledge with merging the framrwork jar
We have a bootup Rom but no ui showes up
We are close lts see what will happen

You can try contacting SaossinX if he has time. He's very skilled.

Just have to add a line to the kernel now to start shelld on bootup, no knowledge at all but i'm trying.
I've already contacted hei1125 to add the line for me, we'll see how it goes.
The rom boots up for the time being, MIUIHome, SystemUI, Android Keyboard and Google TTS FC.

I had contact almost with every body who could help
Will I had learn new things around but defiantly not the compiling part
I had contact Milad and he said he will work on it but he busy now
And another person who can help
For now we foucs on nepythys version JB hopefully he will make it work
Other plan is the ics
Lts see what we will get

I've also got MIUI JB to boot today, lockscreen, setup manager, statusbar, wifi (finding singals) work, but I now have the problem that the keyboard doesn't work, i'll look more into it tomorrow. Please tell if/when you have found a fix for this.

I'll attach the services.jar and framework.jar, I find the ROM too big to upload at this stage.
I used FXP CM10 151 as base and ported the latest MIUI from Galaxy Nexus.

Did you tried third part apk for keyboard??
Sent from my LT26i using xda premium

im getting statuse 7 install aborted when flashing the rom
any body know why this happen ?!!

I've got keyboard working now. MiHome isn't responding with 'waiting for miui.shell' error. It seems that MiHome needs the shelld service to be started, requiring an extra line in the kernel.

the good new we have a bootup rom with no fc so far
bad new still need to edit it

[DEV] MIUI NS port for our SGS by MIUI9000

MIUI9000 devteam try to port Nexus S MIUI 2.3.3 to our Galaxy S.
We had try to compile two differents builds with CM7 SGS Rom :
first with system app and framework, without build.prop miui
second with system app and framework, and with build.prop miui
Same results for two tries : stay on boot screen "Galaxy S Cyanogenmod".
Please, anyone have an idea for port miui 2.3.3 to gs ?
I thought Miui is android 2.2 and not 2.3; besides if I'm correct there is another team picking up Miui development.
Actually they have released first Gingerbread for Nexus S. I also believe that this is posted by the same Team. If I am wrong then kindly point me to right thread as I am itching to run miui on my Galaxy S.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
The new team posted this in MIUI forums, they basically need help. I suggested they post it here and seems like he did, nice one mate
There is no release from them yet, time will tell, but we need some more input from devs here!
@OP: Put [DEV] in your title
Yes we certainly need all the support we can get on this miui project as it is one of the best rom available.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
Im pretty sure it could be built using the CM7 sources like the original MIUI port was done using the CM6 sources.
Pehaps a kernel problem for screen boot block ?

Bump, we need more activity in this thread
I second that jblanc,... kernel problem is what I was thinking as well.. devs should try another kernel.
I m on an HTC desire, and am running miui, I am on the verge of getting galaxy S just as soon as I m sure that the sgs has Chance if getting miui from Cm 7 sources.

Yes, i use CM7 Sources.
I copied the files from the system\app & framework of MlUI Nexus S to CM7 SGS rom.
And I wanted flashed once with and once without build.prop to try both. But nothing to do, the phone is stuck on the boot screen of cyanogen.
Edit: @Rafi: an idea of kernel we can use for fix this problem ? For moment, we keep defaut CM7 kernel ...
There are two other CM7 kernels in this forum you can try.
What kernel did the 2.2.1 MIUI use? Was it a CM6 kernel or a MIUI specific one?
It was hardcores.

It isn't a kernel matter...is a build problem...cyanogenmod doesn't run on the same framework of miui...it isn't that easy to make such a port...we may need more experienced people that alas seems to be unterested in this port!!
let's see if the collaboration will be more proficient than the skills!!
Let's hope that this port isn't too difficult. This is the rom I look forward to most of all the upcoming ones.

Hi there, I'm the one making the MIUI port for Desire Z/G2 and I managed to boot 2.3.3 MIUI up on my DZ. It has many problems... but thats not the point here
To get a booting system I used CM7-RC2 for HTC Vision, replaced the /app and /framework folders with the ones from MIUI and those files in /lib:
libandroid_runtime.so
libandroid_servers.so
libwebcore.so
Since the Desire Z doesn't have NFC I deleted the Nfc.apk in the /app folder.
Try the same with a SGS CM7 Rom and it should boot up.

Was bored, and didn't wanna wait weeks for sources, so started with the Galaxy Nexus OTA dump.
Ain't booting atm, but pretty far into the process, so shouldn't take much more time to get it going.
Made the thread just because i'm busy with studies and don't have much free time, so that someone can continue it.
The ICS kernel works as it is, and i'm upload the system i just dumped off the device.
It's big, (~370mb on device, compressed it so it's 200mb, uploading now, gonna take a while)
Shall post link when done.
P.S. Please keep the thread clean, press thanks if you'ld like to thank me for my work or donate, but keep the thread clean.
Post only if you have something useful.
Just a humble request from me.
Also, since it's ported from another device, even when it boots, everything won't work, but this is just for fun, the real port shall start when Google sets the sources free.
EDIT: Upload's done
http://goo.im/devs/cdesai/p1/jb/1/system.tar.xz - a compressed (xzed) tar of /system, can be used with the ics kernel.

a normal ics 4.0.4 kernel cant be used caused the new inits from jellybean so i make a new i the next days.
if we'll get an almost fully working jellybean, no one needs sources anymore xD

Meh.
No that won't happen.
What you are referring as normal cm9 libs can't be used.
Kernel can be, only ramdisk needs changes.
Kernel != ram disk
And without source, it'll never be fully working.
Also, porting from a device is much more better than using the sdk.
EDIT: Got it booting, using an ics kernel, let's see what works, still on the android is upgrading screen.

One does not simply modify a binary file.
Also, libhardware_legacy won't need to be touched as p1 doesn't use a non-standard wifi firmware. - on what basis are you telling that it needs to be "changed" ?

Toolchain is used for compiling, not decompiling.
tiwlan0 is used by mainly devices with a Ti OMAP chipset, p1 uses wlan0.
And you still didn't tell on what basis you are telling that it'll need to be changed.
wlan0 is the wifi interface on p1, not tiwlan0, i know that very well.
And what do you mean to say by "mod the things like usb storage and some others"?

[ROM] [JB/ICS] [GSM] MIUI 2.10.26 updated 2013-01-22

Hello All,
We all know that we already have enough ROMs and PORTs available for our WFS. We have very stable CM9 and MIUIv4. Also we have nearly stable CM10 but we haven't got any MIUI Jelly Bean port. So I decided to give a try.
Finally I have got working MIUI JB port. Thanks to all those who helped me [Credits at end of the post].
I am still working on this port and not being developer I am still facing some issues in this port. Though it's working its not advised to use it as daily driver. Use this ROM for test purpose only.
There are some bugs and may get some more. So please have patience. Tester's feedback are always welcomed.
I am not a full time developer. So I may or may not be able provide regular updates/fixes. Feel free to use this ROM for any improvements.
This is plain ported ROM. With no tweaks, add-on etc. Use them as per your taste. I have used this ROM more than one week hardly with any issues. Though I never play any videos or record one using phone. Also I rarely use GPS. So I didn't tested these features.

Try using benjamingwyn's cm10 as base rom.... that would be easier and faster maybe.. because i tried to get a flashable kernel of his cm10 and i cudn't find it.... using bens cm10 as base gives u the kernel and the stability it now has.. i am using that version of cm10 as my daily driver....
Also for other users a sugestion, for video recording try using video illusion frm market.. it records video and is a good replacement to the default one at the moment...

Be patient I tried porting latest MIUI but there too many bootloops. So now I am only working on languages. Also Oliver has released a new CM10 with working camcorder and videos. I'll use that as base if it actually works smooth.

Port CM10 Phone.apk to 4.2

Hey guys, since I am a noob in Android development in general, can someone please port the Phone.apk (attached) to Stock JB 4.2 with or without odex file.
I haven't tested this apk yet on 4.2 because I am paranoid. Or anyone can provide me information regarding if it would work directly (without porting).
My main idea behind porting is because of vibration (while call pickup and hang up) stuff that CM provides.
Thank you.
*BUMP*
I tried on Bigxie's Deodexed 4.2 ROM and it force closes. So can anyone please port it.
Install as a system apk and it should work just fine.

It's the people app AFAIK, that package contains the dialler and contact list.

just pull it from the rom and push to system
Not going to work.
I read somewhere that the Phone.apk have to be signed by the signature that sign the ROM.
I'm pretty sure the way i phrase is not completely correct but i'm sure you can get the idea.
To the guys who are saying to install as a system app: I, in the first place pushed the APK using zip file but it didn't work. Mach3.2 might be correct. If you guys want to know why I want a port for it, just ask away.

you can try to replace phone.apk with Galaxy SII's CM10.1 phone.apk, I'm not sure does it work and its resolution HDPI, at least apollo music player and trebuchet launcher works well on Stock JB 4.2..

These are great! :highfive:
Quite some time since I last tried my hands on apk modding...will try now and post up :silly:
I found those for cm10.1 but there want a lot of editing and im pretty boring to do them..they are easy thought exept if your trying to edit a lot of custom rom like slim like me that having alot of extra code!!it will be easier on pure cm10.1
I am gonna try it on the latest Paranoid Android Alpha..
Setting up my dev tools again
Would be nice to have them as flashable zip

I don't think there are major changes in framework since then..it should work
It will take me some time coz I am going back to development after an year and my last droid was kinda different from a Nexus
Lot has changed since then, new fancy tools and all
I will try my best and report back ASAP

Status update:
So, I spent past couple of hours trying to port the recent apps mod to the PA and CM but it didn't work out :crying:
I was able to do the changes and compile the SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk but when I flash the zip, the SystemUI just keeps crashing on the boot..
"SystemUI has stopped working."
I was using this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187184
Well, this guide has some problems..
It says:
/res/layout-port/status_bar_recent_item.xml
Click to collapse
There is no such folder "layout-port" in res..
Then I checked OPs mod which he supposedly created using the same guide...I decompiled his SystemUI.apk but guess what...there wan't any "layout-port" either...
Then I thought that I should change that in the "layout" folder itself...(and later I found out that the OP has done the same)
But still..no gain Force Closes everytime
There was one more problem that there wasn't any id "android:id="@id/recents_clear" in the ids.xml..but I solved that problem.
I can upload the zip which force closes if anyone wants to test stuff too

1. Yep, it is CM10 guide and the person who wrote this used the same to apply mod on CM10.1...
2. Yep I know it's portrait that's why I have mentioned that I already tried changing in the single folder...
I then tried to do this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2241739
Still SystemUI crashed..which means that something's wrong in the compilation method...I was using Virtous Studio

The think is that in layout and layout_land you need to remove the whole code and paste his...the thing is that if you compare the 2 codes you can see that alot of change in recents code but you remove alot of code existing..im pretty sure thats causing the FC's i try with a guide for 10.1 and i still have this problem...systemui refuse to load even when the phone reboots properly..so maybe if we exclude the fact that we can copy and paste...the code there is old and cm has added a lot of stuff in it after that...so we need someone who knows to check the code and apply it to a newest version of cm...
and remember those guides are for cm if your trying to do it on a PA or SLIM or anyother heavy tweaked rom you will mess a hell lot more things!
