Sweet! This is going to certainly help many members that want the update and do not want to wait for automatic update.
I'm out of thanks, but got ya covered when I'm able. :good:

Will this work with twrp or do I need a cwm because I just tried and it did not work nevermind I found the answer thanx for the hard work

I think alot of us are waiting for a method to update using Twrp because we lost stock recovery when we rooted. Are there any methods out yet, or has anyone been successful with twrp recovery?

There are currently no methods to update using TWRP or stock recovery with root. I switched back to stock recovery from TWRP using the GN2 Toolkit, and it didn't work. I've also seen people having trouble updating even after unrooting, uninstalling Busybox, and going back to stock recovery, so we're just going to have to wait.

Decent video. For the record. You can do this without a PC (the video says you cannot). Just download the file to your phone's SD card from his link.

I don't think the video says you can't? I just recommend you use a PC to ensure you don't get a corrupt download. If you're going to download from your phone make sure you have a wifi connection (4g should work fine as well)

I might have misunderstood. I just grabbed it from my phone and installed it. I didn't know how to get into recovery on this phone. Reminded me of hard resetting my Treo. Almost need 3 hands.

So after several tries, i was able to get down the complete messege "E: error in: tmp/sideload/package.zip
status 7" anyone know how to get the new firmware working ?

No, you are just flashing the recovery and a zip file for root. Does not wipe data.

Would it be wise waiting until an OTA update comes? You would think there would be one just for misc bugs, as well as hopefully multi window support.

ota not working
So I just have twrp installed so i could use wifi tether. I just got the OTA last night for the security update. I knew it would fail after the reboot. I went into TWRP selected install, from /cache were the ota was sitting. It appeared to be working but failed at the end.
error message: assert failed getprop ro.secure =1
Is there anyway around this?
So as of right now there is now way to root with the latest OTA installed correct? I just got my Note II yesterday and the OTA came through this morning and I, without thought, accepted and installed it. Is there a way to root or need I wait until a method releases with the latest OTA?

You can root using odin or cf auto root or twrp or cwm etc. No more exonys abuse.

You can still root using any method other than the exynos abuse app. Just flash a custom recovery In odin and then flash a root.zip

No way around that. Easy way to explain, need to reset your binary counter using triangle away. Must be run as many times as you need to get it down to 1, then you must unroot using su preferably so it can cleanly do it. Then you must install the stock recovery then you can update. Hope that helps. I just did all this today, hence that's why I'm posting this late. Took me a while to figure out why it kept failing. Triangle away is a must if you want to do it without installing a rooted rom with update built in.

[Q] New GS3 - not getting JB update?

Had my GS3 for a few months and it's been great! So I got my GF hooked up with a Sprint GS3 as well (she loves her gadgets, too):good: but it's still on ICS and not getting the JB update from Sprint. What's the issue? Tried the system update/ reboot / etc. Hers is not rooted. How do I get it to prompt her for that update?
Thanks!
Very easy process, go to system settings, click on applications Manager. You will see tabs at the top (download, running, all). Go to the all tab and scroll down to Google service frame work, click on it and on the next screen click on clear data. Go back to system update, this will show you available updates. If you don't see it in first try, do this for few more time and you will get the JB update.

Don't accept an OTA if you're rooted. If you're rooted just flash a JB ROM instead. If you accept an OTA with a rooted device you run the chance of losing root.

Provided you have a custom recovery installed (CWM or TWRP) you can accept the OTA update and it will fail because you're not on the stock recovery. Doing this will also help to avoid the repeated OTA notification. :good::good::good:

Just my 2 cents, my experience with this error.
I'm getting the Chameleon FC, and the persistent HandsFree Activation on every reboot. All started when I lost wifi on the LK8 update zip (I was rooted, thanks to Voodoo OTA rootkeep), and tried to get back to LJC...
I'll quote myself from another post (written in a slight daze late last night:

And this morning, I tried the following:
Installed TWRP with GooManage, restored a BU from my orig rooting using the toolkit, no luck, same two errors.
So then I OneClicked the Full Restore (SPH-L900_LJC_Stock_Restore.exe), and wtf, still there.
As I mentioned in my quote, it (the Note2) works, not broken, but I find the persistent error worrisome.
I am open to criticism, suggestions, whatever. What am I missing?
I feel exactly how you do. The phone works but the errors are bothering me.

I suppose that it's worth noting that I get no errors whatsoever on flashing, OneClicks, or Odins. Although, on stock recovery (I think?) I seem to remember seeing the Android on its back w/ a red triangle?
Confounded. :banghead:

Sprint is apparently replacing these for this error. If you go into the store and have them look at it. I've been told that Sprint is replacing these devices as there is no fix until the OTA is released. That's just what I heard.
I would definitely be back to stock before paying then a visit.

Do you have the download link for the ALJ1? I'm gonna try that to see if it work.
I went back to lj1 and let it update to ljc. Errors stuck around. Only way I've avoid the errors is by leaving phone with lk8 which lucky for me works perfectly.
I did try the store replacement thing but they wanted to give me a refurbished phone as replacement. I am going to wait for an update and cross fingers it works without error.

[Q] Can't get E4GT to root with Odin (FI27)

So i searched around for quite a bit and could not find anything addressing my problem so excuse me if this is a re post!
So I had to do an emergency recovery through Kies Air today and go all the way back to stock FI27! After doing so i went and downloaded what I needed to re-root so that i could get CWM loaded up again but when trying to do so Odin fails! I have tried 5 different cables re-downloaded and tried all the different variations of the root such as the No data and wipe data etc. Just curious if anyone else other than myself have run into this issue? If so and you know of a way to fix it please let me know it would be greatly appreciated!

Other option you have - assuming it boots to system... Download the Exynos Abuse .apk from Chainfire and use that to obtain root. You can then flash by Mobile Odin Pro if you're willing to buy from Play Store. Will get you everything except the modem, which flashing Agat's repack in Mobile Odin can also get you covered there.
Try a different version of Odin, sometimes they are really picky

[Q] Cannot boot into Recovery (SEANDROID Issue)

Hey guys,
It's been a while.. so long I forgot my actual account password and no longer have access to the email address I used to create it. I've been on iOS for the last... 4-5 years now.
Anyway, I'm finally back now, got a Galaxy Note 3, and I've rooted it, and upgraded to 4.4.2 KitKat. I've tried to install CWM, and Odin says it passed (I've done this like 6 times now, trying different fixes I've found online, and none worked). Every time I try to boot into recovery, I get the following at the top of the screen:
1. RECOVERY BOOTING
2. RECOVERY IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING
3. Set Warranty Bit: recovery
After this, the phone reboots, and takes me to the OS, which is different than most people, apparently it won't let them even boot so I suppose I'm lucky.
But if I didn't want a custom Rom on my Note, I wouldn't be here, someone please help.
that's weird, usually that blue 'recovery booting' means you are gonna get there.
a few things just for clarification: are you letting go of all the buttons as soon as you see that screen? and you do have the Tmo Note 3, yeah?
i hope you figure this out... it's gotta be something simple, i would think..

have you tried TWRP? that's what i'm using, version 2.7.0.0. perhaps you have an outdated version of CWM? you can grab a TWRP Odin file here if you wanna try: http://goo.im/devs/OpenRecovery/hltetmo

have you tried TWRP? that's what i'm using, version 2.7.0.0. perhaps you have an outdated version of CWM?
just throwing out ideas here... hope you get it figured out.

I thought TOP didn't work on KitKat? I had it initially but it threw the same error so I thought it was the problem and switched to CWM.
Also. After a while these word captchas are horrible. I keep trying to answer them and it refuses to work. I didn't remember xda having them before.
Verify that you gave it the CWM for 4.4.x, not the CWM for 4.3. If it is the wrong version just give it the correct one.

Philz seems to be the recovery of choice lately. Try it out. Works flawlessly for me.

Apparently I had Philz on my computer so I gave it a shot. It gave me the same 3 messages in the beginning but it booted and I got infamous flashed on my phone.
Thanks a lot of all your help guys.

What boxes are checked marked in Odin ? PDA should be checked for installing the recovery.
