SGH-T999 vs GT-I9300 - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Can the GT-I9300 go on tmobile's 42Mb/s HSPA+ network?Any benefits the other has against the other beside that the GT-I9300 has a quad core processor and 1gb of ram.

The international version won't work with T-Mobile network with 3G at all I'm I remember correctly. Also the CPU and GPU are a tab faster but not anything noticeable compared to the us variants. And of course you loose a gigabyte of RAM

HERCULES vs SKYROCKET -- pls help me decide buy one !! :)

greetings fellas !
i am confused between the t-mobile hercules & at&t skyrocket !
i would like to know which one would be preferable among the two !
i will be using the phone in india so the phone will be gsm unlocked !
what i would consider :
1) custom roms
2) build quality, audio quality, camera quality
also pls mention the differences between both phones !
thanks for all your help !
Don't be confused. Besides a bit of cosmetic difference they are the same phone.

you can flash any ROM from either phone.

Get the skyrocket if carrier doesn't matter. They are the exact same phone but with the skyrocket you always have the option for lte even if it is not in your area right now. You can also flash roms from either side so might as well get the skyrocket for lte:good:

I think the black Hercules looks better than the skyrocket. But yeah, they are pretty much the same phone man. Just in case if you flash roms back and forth, don't forget to flash the rotation fix as well my friend.

Yes this is true.
Qualcomm's MDM8220 modem doesn't support LTE.
"Qualcomm’s MDM8220 dual-carrier HSPA+ solution, based on the 3GPP Release 8 standard, provides peak downlink data rates of up to 42 megabits per second (Mbps) and 11 Mbps on the uplink, allowing carriers to easily upgrade their existing infrastructure equipment to achieve significantly higher bandwidths. Its dual-carrier technology doubles networks’ bandwidth from 5 MHz to 10 MHz by aggregating two HSPA carriers in parallel.
The MDM9200 and the MDM9600 chipsets are the industry’s first multi-mode 3G/LTE solutions that allow UMTS and CDMA2000® operators to upgrade seamlessly to future LTE services while preserving backward compatibility to their existing 3G networks. MDM9200 supports UMTS, HSPA+ and LTE, while the MDM9600 supports CDMA2000® 1X, EV-DO Rev. B, SV-DO, SV-LTE, UMTS, HSPA+ and LTE. All of the new chipsets support FDD LTE and TDD LTE modes and different carrier bandwidths, and are capable of using orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) and multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) antenna technology to support peak data rates of up to 100 Mbps on the downlink and 50 Mbps on the uplink."
Wow...I'll be honest with you that was quite a mouthful lol you kind of lost me so I read it twice and I understand, but pretty much the Herc has the MDM8220? So thats a no on the LTE if when T Mo gets LTE like they plan on, we wont be getting true LTE. Correct me if Im wrong lol, Im just a noob trying to learn.

att sgs2 vs sprint et4g

So what's the MAJOR difference between AT&T sgs2 I900 (i think) and the Srint et4g?
just the simple fact that one is GSM and the other is CDMA?
or is it more to it than that? because if that's the case it would be amazingly easy to bring some other work over here.. especially on jellybean..
I believe atat only sells the skyrocket variant of the gs2 now, which uses different hardware. Qualcomm snappdragon s3 with adreno 220 gpu, as oppose to the spring model which uses the exynos 4210 and Mali 400 gpu.

Somewhat wrong on first account. All the major carriers use completely different LTE frequencies. Verizon uses the lower 800mhz block, ATT uses the 700 mhz block, sprint uses 850 (not yet) / 1900 (currently deploying via network vision) / 2500-2600mhz Clearwire TDLTE (future - hotspots) freqs. Although recent advancements in radios allow us to have multiple frequencies on one phone (like the i5 radio), it only goes so far.
The fact that all the S3 being very similar is due to the fact that Samsung got sick of the BS from the carriers and have finally gotten the marketshare and power to finally force the carriers into not messing with their phones. 30 million galaxy S devices + 30 million galaxy s2 devices and 20 million+ gs3's ensure that Samsung has a lot of influence over carriers.
Originally Galaxy S2 on att supported ATT's HSPA21+ 4g network but not the LTE network.
The Original AT&T GS2 (Like Euro Version), has the Exynos Processor. The Skyrocket, to have LTE, had the Snapdragon S3. This is why all US varients have the Dual core S4 and not the Quad Exynos, they all have LTE.
As far as the GS3, they took a route similar to Apple. Different carriers, but a completely unified device. Just change radio bands.

I actually own both phones well the T-Mobile variant at least which is exactly the same phone as the AT&T Skyrocket. The roms for both phones are actually interchangeable and only a rotation fix is needed. Other than shape and the fact that I can make calls and stream the web both phones run the same to me. No notification lights though for the T-Mobile variant which sucks when you get a text or missed call.
Exactly what work is it you are referring too though. I thought development on the Sprint side was way better... Unless you are referring to the first AT&T Galaxy 2

International to AT&T

Currently have the international version of the phone. Was using that AT&T loophole for unlimited HSPA+ data for $10 a month, however it seems they had a major crack down today and that can't be used anymore. Is there anybody here that has used both versions of the S3? How much of a difference does LTE really make? Can you notice a difference between the 2 processors? I'm sure the bonus ram is useful.
I've used both versions and can honestly say the differences aren't significant. LTE vs HSPA+ is night and day; almost like comparing it to wifi. As far as the processor, speed wise doing normal things its immeasurable (Games are better on the i9300). However, the S4 gave me slightly better battery. Android is pretty smart about managing ram usage so I've never noticed anything with the 2gb, but I have gone over 1gb at times.
I just came from the international and man the LTE is worth it alone. I didn't even game at all so the quad was pointless. I only had it for the crazy dev support.

No HSPA Network?

Had S2 and got HSPA network all day long now I have the S3 I only get UTMS. What's the deal? I even updated my Sim card today and thought that would help but I am still on UTMS and not HSPA. When I had the S2 I could get HSPA on data and wifi networks. So now I am wondering if something is wrong with my phone. Hell, if I can't get HSPA I mind as well go back to the S2 or get a phone that can get HSPA like it's supposed too.

There's nothing to correct. It was intentionally built to do exactly what it is doing. It saves bandwidth on the network and yes, it does save on battery. So you have to wait an extra 6/10ths of a second for it to start reaching full speeds... Imo, its a great tradeoff!

No, T-Mobile uses dual carrier HSPA which theoretically can use double the bandwidth and double the battery life of At&t HSPA. Using UMTS as an idle fall back makes sense as HSPA itself is already a huge battery drainer (lock your phone to Edge for 24 hours and you'll see what I mean) - UMTS still consumes more than EDGE obviously but the hand off from EDGE to UMTS would be impossible to maintain virtual transparency.

I have a SM-P601 (3G); it's my third 3G Samsung tablet. They are pretty much the same as the Wi-Fi models their based on. They have a GSM radio and additional antenna that the Wi-Fi models don't. They also have a dialer and MMS app and are in fact "giant phones." Because of the phone feature additional functions are activated within various apps (EG: share via MMS, and call). Other than that they are identical.
If you are importing one from another selling region there can be some funkiness with the apps that are preloaded. For example I had to side load Samsung Hub and can't use Samsung Music because I'm using a Latin American N10.1-14 in the U.S. The same applies to any other apps that third party developers place a region restriction on.
No, they are not identical. The wifi version has a different processor than the 3G and LTE versions.
Like said above just processor is different. Wife use exynos and the rest have snapdragon. That's only difference.
