Hi. When I wake my Desire, the screen is blank. However, the 4 hard keys are lit up, and a tiny crack at the bottom of the screen is lit up. When I put my finger at the slide to unlock, there is a small vibration, indicating that the phone is responsive but not the display. Issue persists after taking out the battery and reinserting.
Thanks in advance.
You mean that your screen doesn't work at all, or at wake up only?

I'm guessing that your screen is broken (not the touch panel, the actual screen) because mines dropped the other day and the same thing was happening so I replaced the screen and it works fine now

Was it covered by your warranty? Where did you replace the screen?
Well if it didn't worked when you got the phone and/or you haven't messed with it (did not drop, change radio...) (eg. it stopped working one day) and the warranty is valid,I don't see why it shouldn't be covered..

I didn't bother with the warranty, I just got it replaced at a local phone shop
You could just order a screen online and try it yourself but make sure you order the right screen

The exact same thing happened to me too. It went into service, they've replaced the screen and the motherboard (wtf?), and now it's all ok, all of this free of charge. Don't bother buying the screen yourself, just go the easy way. It might take a bit longer, but it sure is cheaper.
My desire had this problem when I just bought it, whenever there is a black background, the screen would have 3 very dim white semicircles at the edge of the screen, should I send it back to HTC?

Sounds like dead pixels... you should send it back
Will they replace the lcd or the whole phone?

In which way is this important?
TouchPaled from Oxygen with Transparent XDA App

I had a few bright spots on my LCD. HTC replaced it (got it done in the US) and now they are gone. They did a very good job.
Yours sound like back light leakage? Mine has a pale glow on the mid right side against black background, stayed that way before and after replacing the LCD.
Yeah dropped my phone then screen had a few white dots
Just wondering if the motherboard on a SLCD Desire can support an AMOLED screen. I know the possibility is low, but it would be nice to get a new screen with potential battery savings.

AFAIK Amoled is not better in battery efficiency comparing with SLCD... it has better blacks & colors but eats slightly more battery, correct me if i'm wrong.
(i have Amoled)
Oh, I was under the impression that using dark themes would turn the black pixels completely off, saving battery life, and having the darker blacks you speak of. If it doesn't save on battery, it would still be nice to have deeper blacks, I like change just for the sake of change lol

You're right. Pure black pixels are off. Because led emit their own light and lcd are back lit, amoled screens are more battery efficient. However you cant put an amoled screen on a mainboard for an slcd

I noticed a kind of colour problem with my Desire HD. Heres a Photo.
Is it possible to fix it by myself?
Does this happen in recovery/hboot/while booting too?

Unfortunately yes. i think in the top of the screen the white is a little brighter.
Edit: could it be water under the screen?
I don't think so, no... If you're under warranty take it for repair, if not, there are dozens of how to videos to replace your display...
