I've heard (from another source... not one of the forums) that the "4.1" OTA will be released next Wednesday (11/14) for TMO... I don't know if that's a 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 release... Heck... my source could be wrong....
But I'm going to hope she's right... (she's been fairly right on other things previously)

I got Frosty JB and it is the closest to the official it can be.
The jb rooms I've used thus far drain my battery faster than I'd like... I'm hoping the final from Sammy will be more like ics's battery drain... or better...

By the time they release the update i will already have my Nexus 4, it is ridiculous that we had so many leaks and the official still has not been released. I have been using CM10 nightly builds for awhile now, currently on 11/7. This will do until I get my Nexus 4 and then I am done with carrier branded phones.

That's what I said. Had gnex for about four months before I sold that to come to this. I missed all the features of the Sgs.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I wanted to get the GNex but I could not bring myself to buy a phone with year old technology and decided I would wait for the next Nexus phone. And when the SGS3 became available i just could not resist upgrading, forgetting that updates were ridiculously slow on the Vibrant I had prior to my Sensation 4G. I love the hardware on this phone but if I cannot get timely updates then it is a waste.

I called T-Mobile tonight to change my HTC One S to my wifes account due to picking up this bad boy and an automated voice came on while I waited and said that there was going to be an update for my device next week.
Im hoping we're talking 4.1.1 but I guess its better than guessing IF instead of when, just thought of another thing.... what if its for the One S and not the GS3.

They seem to be doing much better on this phone with support than when I had the Vibrant, that literally took years
I have the vibrant when it 1st come out. And the support was suck.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I too can testify that Vibrant support was crap. But the GS3 is very similar across all platforms so carrier issues shouldn't be such a big deal this time around.
Rumor is that it will be by end of year. Who knows how accurate that will be, but as others have stated, with the GS3 being so similar in all it's versions, it's really going to come down to how long it takes to customize for each carrier. I'd imagine all updates will drop within a month or two of each other.

Even 4.2 doesn't have much of significance. Lockscreen widgets would probably be the biggest thing, but I don't use them on my Nexus 7. Until there is another major Android upgrade, I don't care at all about updates.

True that. But I'll let you know the difference between 10-20 mg and 20-30 isn't as noticeable as you think. I use my wife's t mobile note and it's barely noticeable. Unless it's on edge like it seems to do a lot in SC.

your going to be waiting awhile for us to get 4.2.
I think it would be easier to just go from 4.1.1 to 4.2.0 since it's been so long already. If I'm going to get a update it mind as well be the newest version of Android. Then once we're on 4.2.2 the next big wait will be KLP. KLP will be the biggest update this phone will receive since this phone was released with jelly bean anyway.
So once Key Lime Pie is released Samsung is going to have to race to get it into this phone. It would look bad if it took more then a couple months to get the next version of Android on this device. Mainly because it's there top phone besides when the S4 comes out. Then the Note 2 will be Samsungs 2nd top phone.

The only useful one was the flashlight one, which would be null for an n7. It was the only locks creek widget I used on my n4, and the camera one, but the hold and rotate on the note 2 is better.

It appears that Google has released a 4.2 update for the international OG as of late March. Could it be possible that we get 4.2 update after sprint finishes putting their crapware on it?
I also hear that LG is skipping the 4.3 update and going straight to 5.0 KLP. Late 2012 devices are included.
My OG came with 4.1.2 out the box, I'm sure we should get 4.2 stock by the end of the year and decent LTE

I doubt it sprint so much holding a update back... It still relies on manufacturer to make and push the update to sprint.... Lg is shifted focus to it new lg g2 so in turn we have became low priority...
Lg isnt worried about almost year old model. Its not the product that is having to compete with the likes of the s4/HTC 1... Their will be an update for us but I believe it won't be well into the g2 launch before we get a kick back for updates and that....
