Just finished porting my windows phone app Sequencer over to Win8/WinRT. Used MonoGame and SharpDx, and the port went very smoothly. I definitely recommend those frameworks for anyone looking to convert their XNA WP7 app to Win8.
Sequencer is a beat-maker app that lets you play timed sounds to make a musical composition. It can play pre-recorded instruments like pianos, violins, or saxophones and it also has a three oscillator synthesizer so you can make your own sounds. It is essentially the same app as the on phone, except the UI is scaled up to work on tablets and desktop PCs. So if anyone liked the phone version or has Windows 8 and would like to give it a try, please check it out. Also, it would be great if anyone has any feedback or any ideas for additional features. Here's the link to the app in the store: Sequencer in Win8 Market
Thanks for taking to the time to look at the app.

just looking for a good .torrent downloader app, one that downloads the torrents to the phone and not remote to your computer. Trying the bittorrent app right now, and it seems to be a little crappy. when i start a download it only connects to about 4 seeds and only goes about 3 kb/ps with WiFi. Do I have to change something in my settings to download faster?
There are a few torrent apps in the market. Just search for torrent.
How about trying out aBTC? I however think setting up a remote is much better.

I was in the same boat as you a couple weeks ago. I didn't want a remote downloader. I found a beta version of an app called dTor. A quick google search of "dTor android bittorrent" should bring up some more info for you. Also, check out BluePlanetApps on twitter. That's the developer.
I had some problems with the app while it was in beta. The developer said that it was running fine for everyone except three people with EVOs. We all sent him various logs and I believe he got all the bugs worked out (guess that's the point of beta, right?). Ironically, it sounds like there's a chance the full version will be released today.
Despite the problems that I had, I thought it was a great app that did exactly what I was looking for. If the developer got those minor bugs worked out, then it's going to be a winner.
Thread moved to Q&A.
Swarm will be on the market soon!

Here's a screenie...I got lucky to be a beta tester...offical market release should be very soon. Like within days.

Swarm is in the market now for $4.99 I am checking it out now. I tried dTor but it would force close on boot. This one appears to be working. The 10 peers max is definitely a downer though.
Can anyone recommend a legitimate wifi print app? Printer share wouldn't recognize my unlock key and was stuck on test-page, and send2print wouldn't add menu extensions for adding to queue... any help is appreciated.

Try PrintBot from zenofx.com on the Android Market . Anyways gets the job done for me. Like everyone else, they have a free app and then the full featured one. Its $4.49 but what the heck is that if you need to print something bad enough. Give it a shot and let me know how it goes for you.

I have been using "cloud print" on my Samsung Galaxy s2, and my asus transformer without no problems.
One drawback is that for it to work I have to have a pc running google chrome on at all times, not really an issue for me because my media pc acts as a file server and is on at all times anyway so I just run chrome minimised in the background.
I believe it can work without a pc turned on as long as the printer is supported.

Thanks, ill give it a whirl tho I don't think my printer is cloud-enabled

PrinterShare worked best for me but it cost me £7. PrintBot did not have the driver I needed for my Canon Pixma MG3150.
PrinterShare works for me printing on my home wifi very well. It also offers web printing but I have not tried that facility.
Be good people...

Hopefully we will be rocking Ubuntu soon!
What's everyone think about this?
I have a sneaky suspicion this is one of the main reasons Samsung went with a Smart Dock for the GN2.
Add it up - quad core system with resources, ubuntu, way to hook up peripherals....
That really makes a portable desktop short of virtualization.

I haven't tried it yet. Could be a nice option for those things that just aren't mobile friendly.

I don't think this is the same. Ubuntu for Android is a phone operating system and desktop in one OS. What you are running is Ubuntu desktop on a phone. Ubuntu for Android allows you to make phone calls, text etc....

Any ideas how we get this on our devices yet?

Agreed. Thus is why I said may be of interests.
As for the mobile ubuntu OS, I think you're going to have to wait a bit. It wasn't announced that long ago. It's only recently been shown in any kind of working format, which was on a Nexus phone. Once the code is released, then will be challenges or getting everything to work such as LTE and S pen.
Hey guys,
Recently released 'DI.FM' for Windows 8 to the App Store, a Unofficial Digitally Imported Radio app. I imagine a good portion of XDA'ers are electronic music fans, so in turn I felt it would be wise to post up here and get some feedback.
DI.FM for Windows 8
Price: Free
What does 'DI.FM' look like?

Brief Overview of the Features
Stream all stations from DI.FM
Favorite any station
Background enabled for easy listening
Account-wide automatically-synced settings
Beautiful interface; immerse yourself in the music
Grab it on the Windows 8 App Store to test it out: http://bit.ly/WSz3xh
Looking forward to any feedback anyone might have. Thanks in advance everyone!
This looks really great!
My only suggestion would be to do something about the little "EQ bars" in the top right when the music is playing. Maybe instead of being static they could actually show the real levels for the music, that would be cool.
Thanks for the free app!
Thanks!!! Just great!!

Hello! If you've used OblyTile in the past, you'll know what an excellent piece of software it is. I always thought that the process of resizing icons was a bit tedious though, and when my Windows 8 install corrupt itself, I couldn't be bothered to start again. OblyAutomator should provide a solution to this. My website hosts an online database with applications, and icons that are suitable for each application. Users are presented with a choice of icons, and OblyAutomator calls OblyTile with the correct parameters, which creates the new tile.
This is a video of OblyAutomator in action:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZmr8tdUOaE
Attached is OblyAutomator. It also requires OblyTile (v0.91) in the same directory. Also included is TileUploader, which allows you to add links to icons to the database. I will moderate these, so your icon link won't appear until I've decided that it's suitable and of a high quality.
I'm not sure if there's a demand for an app like this. This is a very early version, and may have a lot of bugs. Please post your thoughts and comments below!
Thanks,
Thomas

Hi sewa2k, thanks for replying!
If it doesn't recognise all of your apps, then it must not have them in the database! I will have a look at the database and see what icons people are requesting, and try and add some more. Feel free to add them yourself though!
Currently there are 5500 apps that have been found, but only 24 of them have icons! Not all of the 5500 apps are ones that you'd want on your start screen, but today I'll be looking through for some popular apps to make tiles for.
