Recently, my screen rotation stopped working. If I select screen rotation from the drop down menu it would flip the phone into portrait mode. I wanted it to be locked in landscape mode instead. I don't know how it happened and I'm still on stock Rom but rooted. Any ideas how to fix it?

I have a problem with auto rotation. Somewhere between rooting (S off, eng S-off and super CID) and installing a CyanogenMod 6.1.3 I got a problem with a rotation on my DHD. If i enable auto rotate my phone goes in landscape in every single app (Messages, camera, menu...) and it's not coming back to portrait when I rotate the phone. If I disable it everything is in portrait even camera and gallery.
I have installed a sensor test 1.0 by Qualigon and I can see that in Orientation sensor, when I rotate the phone, only X is changing, Y=0 and Z=0 all the time.
I have tried calibration and nothing happened. It's the same.
Help please

Worked for me...
I didn't see any followup on this reply. I am having what seems to be a similar problem with the auto rotation. When I start an application it will correctly present either in portrait or landscape.
When I start the application in portrait and then switch the phone to landscape, the screen's rotation will correctly switch to landscape - but switching it back to portrait will not change the screen's rotation.
When I start the application in landscape it will remain in landscape regardless of the phone's orientation. The only way to get to portrait is to close the application, and then restart the application when the phone is in portrait mode.
I installed an application to test the sensor. When holding the phone in portrait vertically, the values I am getting are: ~230, ~0, ~1. When holding in landscape vertically, the values I am getting are: ~120, ~33, ~33.
The wrong rotation behavior happens in all applications. I switched two ROMs already (Cognition 1.5.2 and MIUI) and nothing changed. I am pretty sure the problem is SW related because as I wrote the initial presentation is correct (meaning the initial orientation that I will get when starting an application is always correct).
I would appreciate help.
similar prob FK!!!!!
Same problem but all my sensors show pass via *#0*# sensor checks. Tried nordic i9505 I9505XXUFNB9_I9505NEEFNB2_I9505XXUFNB9_HOME.tar 4.4.2, then SIngapore I9505XXUFNBE_I9505OLBFNB3_I9505XXUFNBE_HOME.tar 4.4.2 all the fken same problem. Screen rotation all fine when I flash firmware, root, then flash CWM touch - everything good. Screen rotate works until the first reboot after all of this which might even be a day or 2 later. As soon as reboot phone, screen rotation dies and it is a huge pain in the arse. Sensors continue to say pass via *#0*#. Every few days i have to re-flash firmware, re-root, then re-CWM touch, no need to factory reset just those 3 steps. Has anyone got any solutions for this yet??

Hello. Lately my screen rotation has been all buggy. Sometimes it won't rotate and other times it rotates, but gets stuck on landscape mode with no way to rotate back to portrait except for luck or a reboot. Any ideas?

I have rhe same problem at times but it doesnt happen too me that much..what rom are u running?
This is kind of a moot problem but here goes. I have the Samsung book cover and I use the day note feature. Up until a little bit ago when I opened the top it would display the day note in landscape mode. Now it always displays in portrait mode regardless of the tablet's orientation. I disabled the day note feature and the lock screen is being displayed in portrait mode regardless of orientation. After unlocking it will go to landscape mode. Is their any way to get the landscape orientation back on the lock screen or when using day note?
Check Setting in Xposed Modules

I noticed that your phone was rooted, so if you have Xposed Framework installed, a few modules have auto rotate disable as default. I am only offering this advice, because I ran across this same problem.
If you don't have xposed Framework or Modules installed, check to make sure auto rotate is enabled.
I'm still not allowed to post at the CM11 thread so I'm creating a new thread ...
I use my note 8 in landscape mode normally. I disabled the screen rotation in landsacape mode.
When the device gets locked and I turn it on the following happens:
the lock screen appears in landscape mode
(I start typing my PIN)
the lockscreen rotates to portrait mode automatically after one or two seconds (because this seems to be the default orientation for that tablet now)
(I turn my tablet and enter my PIN again)
the tablet gets unlocked and the screen rotates back to landscape mode since I locked the auto rotation in landscape mode
My question: how can I change the default rotation to the landscape mode again (like it was in the first nightlies of sbrissen, before they came official)
Or can I set the lockscreen to follow my screen orientation lock?
I know, I could enable the auto rotation to have my lockscreen in landscape mode, but I need the rotation lock when reading at bed

There are rotation fix commits in latest nightlies, did they resolve your issue?
I have a s8+ from Verizon and whenever I enable screen rotation, it doesn't rotate, and if it does it takes a long time to change orientation, and it gets stuck in that orientation until I turn screen rotation off. And this is with all apps, it's not that bad on YouTube but all other apps it struggles. Has anyone had this problem?
I have the same issue and all I can suggest is a temporary fix. Install xposed and get forced screen rotation mod. I also added the menu button to my navbar through GravityBox and assigned screen rotation to the long press, for quick access
I did and I fixed it. In the quick settings panel click the icon that says Portrait.
EDIT:
I misread the original post. My solution may not apply to your problem. Mine was not rotating and I couldn't find the setting anywhere! I was looking for the screen rotation icon - not a "portrait" icon.
