My phone runs cm7 and I really hate the messaging app. However I like the messaging app from touchwiz or most bubble mms. I have tried go SMS and handicent but don't like it. So I would be grateful if someone creates this app as a apk and tell me how to install it.

there isn't any app like that if i remeber well and making this kind of app will be long (; try different themes for go sms or handcent and you will find sth good for u (;
Taptapped from my little killer iPod 4G (;
Okay thanks for the reply. Instead of having a touchwiz messaging app could you make the messaging app from android 4.0 the default messaging app in cm7.
U can try extract the messaging app from 4.0 to 2.3. See whats happens . But i think that it is not possible. The changes from 2.3 to 4.0 are too great.
I will try that when i get home.
Will this work? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1616499
Maybe it works, because of CM7, maybe it wont work because of the different screen size. I suggest to give it a try. (make always a backup offcourse)
Ok Thanks. I will not be able to do it tonight, I have a college open evening. I will post the results tomorrow.:fingers-crossed:
None of the ideas work. I think I might flash this rom, because it is a gb rom and it will have everything working and it will have bubble mms.

There is an app on the play store called something like "JB Messaging", you might like that.

HANDSCENT!
I tried to go back to the the basic mms on my evo. But couldn't keep away from hanscent. Can customize way too much, not a bad thing, but I spend a lot of time tweaking it just right. so i love it now lol
CyanogenMod-6.1 mms.apk here I tried hancent, being picky ... I just dont care for the UI and the widget looks like crap but its a good app just not for me.

Can I just delete the mms.apk that's already installed and install CM's? I remember reading some posts about people having problems with picture messages breaking without the original MMS.apk.

Can someone post the Cyanogen 6-1 mms.apk file please? I tried looking for it , but couldn't find it.

Here are some stock TouchWiz apps that have had TouchWiz removed to work with other Roms, specifically CM7.
Note: These will not work on Roms other than CM7, except maybe MIUI (Doubtful)
These are all CWM flashable zips, so download to your SD card and flash.

TouchWiz Calendar
This overwrites the stock CM7 Calendar and CalendarProvider apps.
Please re-check your calendar sync settings. This also might mess with any exchange accounts you have

hey your right on time
just installed cm and the task manager is a crutch of mine
though i am liking the cm long-press back, to kill apps, as well
is the Calendar the one from our Epics or or by chance the Fascinate Calender ?
Would very much appreciate it if you did the stock Music Player.

Second that, as well as the TW Camera (although I am not sure whether the latter is possible).

+1. I hope it's possible... I miss panoramic mode.
I was about to flame on another person who asked for them, till I saw who it was that posted! Nice job
All apps installed and work well from the get-go, except TW calendar which was FCing. I wiped data/cache (app and CWM), rebooted and reflashed the .zip several times to no avail. Was about to give up but the following fixed it: first backed up the TW calendar and storage apps then uninstalled both completely via TiB, restored CM7 calendar & storage app/data (pulled it via TiB from a previous nandroid) and then restored the TW Calendar and Calendar storage apk's (TiB). TW calendar works fine now, no FCs
Aside from the TW Camera app, I also miss the TW dialer (search contacts option, speed dial etc). Hopefully the OP will consider porting TW phone.apk as well.
Why don't we just port over TW entirely? Hell what's the point of cm7 anyway. Jk jk.

Is it possible to do this to the vvm apk? It would be nice to stop getting the text messages.

It is believed that it is part of the app and messaging combined. All AOSP ROMs have that happen. I wonder how the Nexus handles it. You can either get a messaging blocking app and block 9016 or turn off voicemail notifications and only have the text message notiify you.

I can give you the cm7 vvm apk and to get rid of notifications you go into settings>call settings>voicemail notifications (uncheck) and you'll be good. Also if you need to go into the voicemail settings in the same place and change *86 to your #

Confirmation that the task manager works, anyone? Does it add the 'task manager' button to the task switcher (long press home)? If so, that'll take care of the one thing I dislike about AOSP ROMs...
Awesome! Thank you very much. I would like to second the request for the clock app.
Is there a link for an ics asop dialer?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
This has been asked several times. Unless someone mods the AOSP dialer to work with TouchWiz and the provisioning it will not just install straight up and work.
I wish there was one.
^ i wish it was too. i loved how i could scroll over to contacts and what not.
if the AOSP camera gets the "save to external sd" option, ill probably go back to CM. Ive always loved that dialer and MMS app.
Not that this is gonna fix your hunger for AOSP but have you tried an app called BIG! Caller I.D? I use that with another app called exDialer and its all sweet. Try it, it might help some
I just installed my first ICS rom and love almost everything about it...
Except I hate the new 3 tab dialer. By removing contacts and groups from the top it forces me to use both the phone and contacts apps, which takes up another slot on my dock. I hate this.
Is there a GB phone.apk/contacts.apk or something that can allow me to run the old contacts.apk or phone.apk in ICS?
I have tried the 3rd party dialers such as dialer one, exdialer, go dialer, etc. I dislike all of them. They seem buggy and laggy and I don't like the kiddy look of most of them. Anyone have a solution?
Thanks
This bothered me at first too, but I realized that it does have a spot for all your contacts.
If your opening the phone, click on the tab for your favorites. Then scroll down past them and you should see your full contact list appear with the ability to quick search through them. It's a little different depending if your on a touchwiz or AOSP ROM but the functionality is still there in both. This solved my need for having a separate contacts app in the dock.

I too am unimpressed with the ICS dialer and contacts. i would love to keep the ICS blue theme and the actual keypad, but go back to the GB tab configuration. is anybody working on this?
I, agree as well, i would like to use the dialer and swype keyboard from strongsteves odex blu GB Rom. Does anyone know how to do this?

Yeah, my wife loves everything ICS on her Skyrocket, except for the dialer. She still prefers the GB dialer. Anyone know a way to get that ported?
I am using Go dialer but my problem is that it takes a while to make a phone call. When I select a contact it takes like 3 or 4 seconds to engage.
Any suggestions
thanks
wow no dev interest?
ICS dialer sucks.
I've searched for days, but I cant find anything on how to install the Samsung txt msging app on the ICS, ive tried downloading it n it wont install n ive tried pushing it too n wont work.
I hate the ICS msging app, so i use another app to txt, but i really like the Samsung txt msging app, is that possible? im sure it is.

don't think you gonna get the "Samsung" one to install. sounds like maybe you on an aosp rom? "Samsung" app = touchwiz app. you need a touchwiz based rom. I suggest trying out gosms. its an amazing messaging app IMHO.
Or handcent. That is the one I have been using and I think it is perfect for me.

Sent from my EPIC TOUCH!
Question for those with gosms. Can it show text and the thread similar to the touchwiz messaging app in landscape? Really love that feature and it's something that Hand cent (which I've always been a fan of) lacks.
Thanks
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
Edit: Just downloaded GoSMS and found it does not have the landscape functionality of the Touchwiz messaging app. Kind of surprised neither GoSms nor Handcent have done these with 4.6"+ screen sizes becoming the norm and ample screen real-estate allowing for such functionality.

An inverted app has a dark background and light text instead of having a light background and dark text.
