Last night I went to bed at like 60% battery. I woke up today and my phone is completely dead. I slept for 5-6 hours and its hard to believe that my phone dead. I have NO idea how is this possible?
Here is a SS of my battery. I'm running AOKP(Jellybean 4.1.2)Task & Ktoonsez

You probably got a lot of calls/texts cuz ur screen probably turned on because of the fact its a whopping 49 percent
But the stats are only accounting for 51 minutes of up time, 49% screen usage at that uptime is not difficult to do.
What Rom are you running? Kernel? Did you recently download/install any new apps or games?
Generally this issue is caused by two things, 1) android system going beserk 2) a rogue app keep the phone from going into deep sleep.
Best thing to do is to fully charge it and then let it sit idle for a hour or two and then see what your stats report. Better battery stats is great for pin pointing causes for battery drain.
In the past, I have had a few games cause excessive battery drain as well as android system. The first was easy to remedy, install and reinstall worked 90% of the time while the other 10% required me to completely abandon said app.
Android system is a little trickier, always had to re flash the Rom to fix that, but thanks to data backup nandroid, that only takes a few minutes to backup data, flash Rom and then restore data... leaving me with my phone in the exact state that it was in before, , sans the battery drain.
Good luck bud

Well last night I did a serious wipe on my phone. I reinstalled my rom and then went to sleep. better battery stats for free? or is it the app that cost $2.89. I don't mind paying $3 bucks for an app to help me figure out whats wrong with my phone.
Make sure it is going to deep sleep. Change governors sometimes ktnoozconservacts weird so just click o load to defaults reboot and that shohld fix theproblem
Download BBS. It's free here on xda for members.... Just do a search. Downloaded any apps lately??

Last night I restored my phone using the factory image. For some reason I anticipate an OTA soon so I wanted to be ready. Anyhow, before I suffered from the battery drain bug. I forgot to charge my phone last night, and didn't realize it until I got in my car and put it on the car charger and it said 89%. My first thought was that my battery drained over 10% in the hour I was getting ready and not using it! Then I went into battery settings and found out I never charged it.. then I found some pleasant... well, I'll just show you.

As you can see, I lost less than 5% battery during the 6+ hours my phone was unplugged. I had the phone in the living room charging while watching a movie. Then I unplugged and used it for about 20 minutes in the bedroom which accounts for the first rapid drop in battery. But after I set it down, the phone went into a coma. And I can't see exactly, but it looks like it was only 2 or 3% which is great!
Not sure what changed, I still have the same apps installed, even Facebook. I did, however, NOT disable VZ backup assistant like I normally do. Maybe that is what causes the OS to go bonkers? Thoughts?

I got about 20 hours out of mine yesterday (extended battery) with moderate usage (texting, ebay, facebook, web) This is after unlocking the bootloader and rooting. Unlocking the bootloader resets the phone to factory state. I've read a few other posts around the web where battery life is greatly improved after a factory reset. Android OS is still the main things devouring my battery, but I almost don't care with the performance I'm getting. I should also mention that I wiped battery stats from CWM and then calibrated the battery on first charge.
I'm no dev, so I don't know why a reset would help. Then again, maybe it was wiping battery stats and calibrating that helped me. Just my $.02
How did you calibrate the battery?
There's a free tool in the market that will calibrate for you. Have to be rooted though. Just search for calibrate.

Surprised this isn't getting more acknowledgement. Any one else experience the same after a reset?

Guess maybe I'm one of the lucky few...I've always had this type of battery life. The phone just sips power while the screen is off.
While it is on...well that's different. I keep the brightness high and get about 2-2.5 hours of screen time before it powers off.
The interesting thing here is that it seems that you have the Android OS constantly waking up the phone but yet it still barely uses battery.
Do you have location services turned on or off?
Turned on. I noticed that too but the overall awake time is low. Usually it would be over half of the entire time on battery, sometimes 100%.

I used 50% in about 3 hours on my extended battery.
fml.
Great battery life, but you didnt really use your phone much.
Your "Screen on" is only about 15% of those 6 hours. Which ends up being about an hour.
Still, none the less, great battery life/power consumption.

I think you missed the point. I said this was done while I was sleeping. Many people are experiencing extreme battery drain even when they aren't using the phone, as was I. After restoring from the factory image, my issue seems to be gone.

I unplugged my phone at 11:30 pm with 98%, woke up at 7:30 am today and it dropped to 76%. So a 20% drop in 8 hrs with the phone just sitting there with wi-fi on and no apps running. It'd be very interesting to see if a factory restore would help.
How's the battery life now that you're using it?
Im thinking of unlocking and rooting mine tonight. havent had a moment to read the walkthrough just yet.
i noticed this too last night/today. i went to sleep after installing bugless beast 4.0.3 cdma, left it off the charger, and today i saw the chart was pretty much a flat line. i don't recall the exact times, but i'll try to time it out. about 8 hours
i wonder if all the initial extreme battery drain reports are due to the 'wowanewphone' effect, where you are molesting your phone 24/7, as opposed to the typical day-to-day use you'll eventually fall back into
I saw a post about this, but I can not find it now.

The android system % is really high. For reference the screen time is at 2h 58min in that shot.
The post I saw about it mentioned a patch that fixed that in some phones? Just curious if there is something I can do to fix it and improve the battery life further.
This is on jedi xp9 with saber kernel.
What were you doing with the phone in that one hour? If nothing serious you have a battery leak problem. 31% for one hour is just not right. I used to install a calendar widget that causes leak like crazy, even after I un installed it. Had to do a hard reset to fix it.
1hr? The battery was at 1d 11h and some change, but yeah I am prolly going to do a clean install. I'm thinking maybe my titanium backup is goofed up.
Just wasn't sure if there was a system patch that was for that, I thought I had read that somewhere.
Its just the only thing using battery. That's good. Youre getting phenomenal battery life. Trust me. When I posted my last message I didn't see a pic of your time stamp. Do math on total CPU usage of the android system. Also Google backup transport uses a good chunk. Disable that if you don't want it. (When flashing a new rom Google transports your old backup onto your device)
Anyhow here you go. Do the math and see how much battery life to CPU usage I would get verse what you got. If you are never using your phone the is and or system will eventually kill it. Using a larger percentage. It looks like you aren't even using your phone. 36 hours of battery is insane. Also note my screen was on just a little over 3 hours. (At minimal brightness always)

Sorry my bad. But it still doesn't look right to me that your system is burning more battery than the screen.
It seems like your phone was idle for the most part of that battery time. If so, then it's normal to show more android system usage percentage than other things, since there are background processes running. If that's the case, your battery drain is good, especially if you're 4g was on the entire time.

Yeah I never turn the 4g off. Guess I was just miss understanding the post.
Yes the phone was idle a lot, normally is on my days off. During my work week im looking at 18-20 hours getting me to 60-40% and me charging it it before bed. Being in reinforced concrete buildings 2 stories underground causing me to the have a poor signal I figured that was pretty decent.
Anyway thank you guys for the information.
It used to be that with the screen off and the phone on idle with the screen off, I would lose maybe 2% per hour. This morning, my battery quickly dropped to 50% with some phone call but very light use. So I charged it back up to 80%. For the last hour, it dropped about 9% with the screen completely off and I had cleared the memory prior to that. That is unusually high since the phone is sitting in one place in an area that has good 4g and 3g.
How is your standby battery drain? I am on LJC stock rooted.
Edit: reboot phone and now it is better. Loosing 6% in 2 hours of standby. Much better.

Glad a reboot helped. I'd recommend rebooting every day. I usually do it first thing in the morning and before going to bed.
My battery life on LJC rooted was fantastic. Never had a phone like this. My EVO3D with 3300 extended battery was good, but still not as good as the note2.
I experienced a really weird battery drain a few weeks ago but cannot replicate it. However it dropped from 100% to 42% in 2 hours time. Pulled battery recharged it and nothing since. But I usually get 16+ hours a day with extreme usage. I am talking 5 hours of netflix and some pandora and games. On my weekend when I dont use the phone much I get 48 hours usually.

I kept checking it with battery monitor widget and the third and fourth hour, it was only losing 1% per hour much like my old E4GT. Battery drain went down from -300ma to about -45ma.

Which app is that? I've been looking for something to view battery current, many I used on HTC phones don't work on Samsung.
Does that app also have a better understanding of what apps are causing battery drain? I'm tired of seeing "Android OS" and not knowing EXACTLY what it is...Might help me diagnose my Fiance's E4GT (GS2) with "Android OS" as the main culprit at 67%...

That's just battery monitor widget available at the play store. It is still hard to tell what is exactly causing the -300ma drain during standby with screen off.

Very helpful. Thanks.
I was always unsatisfied with my battery life, but now it's gone too far!
1. No matter how long I charge it, at the very second I unplug it it goes down to 99%.
2. It doesn't even go down correctly, one moment it's 65% and the other it's 58%. Always.
3. It drains soooooo fast even though I do nothing with it!!!!
Here are some pictures
1. This is 17 minutes after unplugging it, all I did was to put music on [earphones] and check if my girlfriend was online on Whatsapp.

2. That's after a minute and a half, 2% less, doing nothing but listening to music with my screen off!
3. One minute later..
4. Sixteen minutes later, phone is idle and untouched [not even music, I started my shift]
5. Again, idle.
It lasts 3 hours tops!!!! What the hell do I do.

Ok might be but to the level where the phone doesn't last 3 hours? That's not cool. It should be lasting more even with heavy using.

yeah you're right, it should last more anyway! maybe it's the rom.. what rom are you using? or maybe the battery failed. it happened to me with another phone, basically i was in the seaside with about 38°C the phone was boiling hot, the battery was fully charged but in about 20 mins it was at 5% without even using it then it died. since then that battery never worked again and i had to buy a new one. do you remember if you had a similar situation or if your phone overheated for any other reason (maybe while charging or near a heat source)?

Using android is like changing a new phone every month!
Better check you apps behaviour and syncs with BetterBatteryStatts and cpu spy for deep sleep. No way a battery drains that fast normaly.
Interesting thing is, I just did a full wipe/factory restore, couldn't be an issue with my apps, could it? Gonna go log my battery in the mean while
Using android is like changing a new phone every month!
Could it be due to this process "audioOut_2"?
Dont have vibes installed though, yet somehow this is preventing phone from sleeping.
Will try with second handset to see if this is an issue with rebooting phone on silent mode

how many screen time? have you put you phone in a hot zone? have yoy been playing while charging for a long time? i say it because it is known that some samsung batteries inflate themselves and decrease the battery life to like about 15 minutes so look if the battery is normal or a bit rounded (fat battery)

Hot zone meaning? I haven't been abusing my phone, but when I play some games/surf the Web, the battery seems to die at almost twice the speed it did before.
If buying a new battery would solve this issue, then I would buy without hesitation! I'm just scared that the battery condition is not the main issue with this drain.
Currently doing a full drain/charge to recalibrate the battery

by hot zone I mean let the phone in the sun or somewhere when the temperature is high. I recommend you to check your battery physically, I mean open the back of the phone and see if the battery is in the same condition as when you received it. As I said before the main problem could be that your battery have been inflated if is this you must replace it not only because the bad performance but also because it is really dangerous(there are acids in there and if it explote..)
However it seems more like a continous draining try calibrating as you said with battery calibration or similars. If the battery starts to decrease its life (i mean today lasts 5h., tomorrow 3h.) it is almost sure what i said about the battery.
hope i helped you somehow
