I'm currently running Legendary ROM RC2. Love the ROM, but since upgrading from RC1 to RC2, the launcher on the home screen has changed from 5 buttons to 3.
Is there a way to change this back, or adjust the settings? I'd like to stay on the latest RC2.
What I really want is to change the Phone button to the Messeging button. Nowadays, I text way more than I talk now.
Any help or insight is appreciated.
I don't understand what it was about that but I think if you reflash it it will give you back the 5 icon launcher I'm not sure but why? Happend to me a couple times.

Go Launcher was removed. Just grab another launcher from the market. I use Zeam. You have 5 icons on the dock and it scrolls so you can have more.

No it wasn't go launcher... I remember it was the stock gingerbread 2.3.5 launcher but when I flash 2.2 it went down to 3 icons and it said 2.3.4.... so I had to reflash and it was back to 2.3.5

Ah...can't keep track of all these builds and all the launchers. Found remnants of Go launcher on my phone and thought that was it. This is why I stick with Zeam. It doesn't matter what launcher the ROM builder puts on then.

Have you tried using a different launcher?
I use launcher pro. You can download various launchers from the market & try them out.
Launcherpro has 5 dock icons at the bottom & are scrollable, I have three sets available on mine.
I like launcherpro but you should look around the android market & try some out, also be sure to play around in the settings for the launcher most of them will really do a lot of cool stuff.....
I'm on stock EL29 and i dont know why, but my wallpaper zooms in greatly with any launcher I use(except launcher 7, since the background is black). I've tried several different launchers, including Holo launcher, phoenix launcher, GoLauncher Ex, and an early version of ROX launcher I found on the forums. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

I am still on ADW EX. It's still pretty good but with no updates looks to have been abandoned.
What is everyone else using? One thing I am looking for is a home replacement with 6 custom dock slots. As I have 6 things (phone, contacts, google voice, google talk, messages, email) that I always want available to me.
Well.. there is a lot of launchers out there.
I myself try to remain stock, like on cm9 trebucht I mod the dock by to represent sense 4.
Honestly I don't really like them anymore but it still is a decent launcher and thats Go Launcher.
I believe there is a launched thread here somewhere in xda. Might have to dig a bit, most launchers designed before and after GB have pretty much stopped. Either they were in too deep or just stopped working on it.
I'd love to use honeycomb launcher but unfortunately syndicate is a horrible development team, they are slow with updates and usually never fix the bugs.

I still love go launcher ex. I just recently went back to sense because of a new touch of blue install, but still using go on my Toshiba thrive.

For ics, nothing beats apex.
Adw for gb, adw ex just had an update in dec. Just my two cents, I can't handle sense, so slow and boring. Go seems to be a resource hog. For miui, I like ftl launcher, gives you an app button and it still themes the apps.

GO is what I use. They have lots of options and update constantly...sometimes too constantly.
My current favorite is Holo Launcher. It's pretty much of a newcomer, but it's pretty lightweight, good and fast, and gives a great ICS experience on a Gingerbread ROM. It has a scrolling dock with up to 7 items per dock page.
I use nova.. apex lags for me

Sidnese which
On Gingerbread I use Go Launcher EX and on ICS I use Apex Launcher.

haha soo true. I used GO launcher back on my tablet when it was stuck on honeycomb, cuz the stock launcher was horribly slow, but I love the ICS launcher, so i was on that
I'm on Go Launcher EX. Has never lagged for FC'ed yet...no issues.
With Go Launcher can I set 6 custom dock icons?
I'm still rocking LPP. I like it. I have 5 static icons and 5 swipe actions as well using those icons. It still works fine for me.

Yes. Latest version of Go Launcher Ex allows for this customization.
On GB, I used Go Launcher w/ ICS Theme, and on ICS, I usually use what's built in - usually being Trebuchet. Apex comes with AOKP builds/milestones, and seems pretty reliable - just like Trebuchet. I don't think there's that much of difference, because ICS is just so damn sexy out of the box. xD

Seems so - pretty sure you can have scrolling docks with both Go and ADW. I think they both support folders too.
adw for now
Go launcher for a while, but just haven't put it back on yet.
I use Zeam Launcher; it's lightweight, configurable enough, and fairly no-frills (which for me is a big plus).

Right now i'm running the stock launcher for CM10 on mine (albino's build)
Gonna be a dirty boy and Double post. I just switched to Nova Launcher. On Albinoman's 4.1 rom for the Dinc it's buttery smooth in any animation setting. I tried Go-launcher, but I got overwhelmed by all the tie-ins it tried to make me do "go launcher widget, go launcher theme, go launcher icons" etc. Nova seems to strike a good balance between basic'ness and customization/animation.
Hi All,
For anyone that is a fan of Nova Launcher (like myself) you will be pleased to know that the new public beta is now available for download. The previous version of Nova used ICS as the base, the beta uses JB and has the following new features:
* Merge jellybean launcher
* Automatic desktop rearrangement
* Automatic widget resize
* Fling to delete
* Smoother
* More
* Import settings from other launchers (Stock, Samsung, HTC, Moto, Trebuchet, Apex)
* Custom Drawer grid size
* Add Info/Uninstall to quick menu, better centering and scrolling
* Update JB Icon Theme for Moto ICS
* Fix FCs
You can access the beta by clicking on Nova Settings, scroll near the bottom where it says "Nova Launcher 1.2.2 (Check for Updates), then click the 3 dots menu next to changelog, then select beta, then update. Very nice and very smooth.
Thanks for the heads up. By far the most efficient launcher from my experience, speaking in terms of battery use, or lack thereof.

I agree, I also find it buttery smooth as well. More so than other lauchers for some reason and I am not sure why.
On a side note I found an interesting trick with Nova Launcher while switching between ROMs. I have been running Nova Launcher for a while, but at one point I was using CM9 and I backed up the app through Titanium Backup. When I switch my ROM to a TW based ROM and then restore the Nova app with data through Titanium backup, I was able to keep all the icons from CM9. So the dialer, contacts, messaging, camera, calendar, calculator, gallery etc etc kept the CM9 AOSP themed icons. It's pretty cool, take a look.
I am currently running TDJ's Telus ICS release by the way.

Nice. I'm sure peeps running CM9/TW would find that to be a good feature. I had to do a ton of workaround to get AOSP icons on ICS.
feeling holo hd plus better

You know when you have an app or a widget on one of your home screens? Usually you would have to tap and hold the app/widget and drag it to the trash or click delete. Not in Jellybean. You can tap and hold the app/widget and then just fling your finger across the screen and it will fly off the page for you. :laugh:
Sorry I am an idiot. In Nova Settings Look and feel section there is an option for Icon Theme. If you choose default it will have your default apps theme. If you choose Stock Jellybean, then it will have the AOSP themed apps. My mistake, had nothing to do with titanium backups I made. Sorry about that.
Does anyone who has used the new beta Apex compare the 2? That is what I'm using.

there is an apex thread too. To be honest, people are so divided between go, apex, nova and holo. I think they tend to stick with whatever a dev packs with a Rom. I am stuck between nova and holo myself
Thanks for the heads up about the update! I think it feels smoother and it has some cool new features.. I'm sure that apex will come out with a new update soon too

What's the best Ice Cream Sandwich launcher out there for the captivate glide ?(unrooted, running gingerbread 2.3.6) I've been trying to find one with the app drawer card stack animation running smoothly but haven't had much luck. I downloaded the Holo launcher but that was laggy in the app drawer. I heard that the apex launcher/nova launcher are MUCH better and bring the true stock ics feel to touchwiz but unfortunately we need ICS to get that. Any other alternatives??
Thanks
Holo Launcher has the card stack. but there's a lot of better ones on ICS>
i have been using apex launcher and love it.

The GO Team has begun to sneak some stuff into their other apps like GO SMS...and doesn't really have that many extra features for ICS.
Nova Launcher is great ^__^
Tried Apex and Nova, and I still seemed to like GO better.
Is there an ICS-style launcher that has the edit features ADW has? I like being able to easily change an icon/name/etc for the misc apps on my homescreen, and I don't think I'd give that up just to look like ICS.

Apex. I was a long time ADW EX user and Apex is essentially ADW for ICS. The only thing it doesn't have is the desktop dots feature that I liked to use to quickly navigate screens.

She, and no, I meant an ICS-style launcher that works in our ICS leak, not an ICS-themed launcher for older versions. Sorry if I wasn't clear about that, and thanks Simba, I'll give Apex a shot.
