Hi,
I've installed the Maximus ROM and it's cool.
I know that now I can't return to the Stock Rom just because I can't downgrade the HBoot.
But...when Jelly Bean stock rom will be release for every HOX devices, will I be able to lock the bootloader and install the official Jelly Bean update?
Thanks for your answers
yes when a RUU is released for JB you would be able to install it
When you get a stock backup with stock recovery and boot.img you can get official OTA's for JB
Relocking of the bootloader is not necessarily needed in the last option.

You need stock recovery as well as ruu to get ota's? I'm on android version 4.03 as u just installed stock ruu for my device. Is there an official update to 4.04 yet? If I put the stock revcovery on as well as I still have cwm installed will I get the ota?

Read your other post in my thread. Lost cwm anyway because of installing ruu. The update just came up a while ago so have no idea why it wouldn't earlier. All is good. Just wish my g sensor would work

No it won't work, you have to install your RUU.
And if you have unlocked the bootloader without installing a custom ROM, can you still update to the official JB??

Yes......and you have to be on stock recovery

Hmmm... so flashing a custom recovery will not allow future updates? I guess I have to revert back to stock recovery...
I think as long as the hboot did not upgrade you can still update with custom recovery. coz mine was 1.29 when i got my phone and i didn't do any update. it just updates when i flash viperx rom. i dont know. im not sure.
You just need the stock ROM to receive the OTA.
You only need stock recovery to install the OTA.

Did u do a stock nandroid backup ?
You seem to have all the info for the ruu. If it's not out there it could be possible that it's not released yet !

what happened was when i was so excited to go flash the cm10 rom i thought u had to root it and the first way to root it was the insicurerootandboot but it went wrong where idk but after that i thought it was no point to back it up as my stock rom no longer worked because of insicurerootandboot.
so does this mean i have to wait untill a 2.17.862.2 ruu is avalible?
(UPDATE)
i have found a 1.26.862.2 flashable rom and i have done so but every time i put the 1.26.862.2 recovery (extracted from 1.26.862.2 RUU) and lock it it says ''Relocked''
Security warning unless i unlock it again is there a 1.26.862.2 recovey that will work or will i still have to wait untill a 2.17.862.2 RUU is avalible
Thanks
A RUU has to match your base or be higher
Example :
Base is 1.26
Flashing a ruu 1.26 and higher is possible
Base is 2.17
Flashing a ruu 2.17 and higher is possible
So a 1.26 ruu will not work
Verstuurd van mijn HTC One X
Just curious but when I update from 1.26
The next 1 would be 1.29 right so does that mean I won't be able to update my 1.26 ROM with my base as 2.17 so in thurey if I had a 1.29 with a 2.17 update that would be possible right ?

Hi..
I have just bought a new HOX with 4.0.4 and sense 4.1 build no. 2.17, CID HTC__038 INDIA.
My Question is if i unlock BL, get CWM recovery and Root it now what will be the preparations i have to do for getting OTA OFFICIAL JB Update, which is expected in recent time.
Will i need to unroot it and relock BL or anything like that.
Another thing if i get a Custom JB rom from XDA, what will i need to do in that case.
Any Help is Appreciated.
Sorry for being NooB but just got the device and not knowing much about it, tried searching but nothing relevant found in HOX forum.

1- to get the OTAs you need to be on stock, so you will need to run a RUU and flash stock boot.img and stock recovery
2- to install JB custom roms you will need to upgrade your firmware to HBOOT 1.28/1.31 and then you can flash pretty much every JB rom
Stock
And what if is everything stock except unlocked bootloader??

In this situation you are able to receive and install official OTA's.
Stock boot.img
Stock rom
Stock recovery
Unlocked bootloader
In this way it's possible

Thanks. I've rooted phone two months ago and retun it to stock just like you said, with a nandroid backup, stock and recovery flashed from the exact same backup. Found that somewhere. I've asked that question because my friend told me that update wont work with unlocked bootloader.

If you update your hboot and flash a custom JB rom you are stuck with that until a JB RUU is released. There is none at the moment
If you want to do a official JB OTA you have to get back to stock
1 or with a RUU
2 the method i posted before
Update with pc ?
My advice at this moment is to stay on stock (run it for a while and see there are no problems with the device) wait for the official JB update and start rooting and installing a custom rom after that. Until then you can read and learn more and more about flashing and rooting

I tried following that guide down the page but the download link for the "custom RUU" is dead.

No you can not. Downgrading a hboot with a ruu is (still) impossible. Phone has to be s-off. You are stuck on a custom rom until a JB ruu is released

Hi, I have noticed that HTC_044 is receiving OTA updates to jellybean now, my CID is 044, Hboot version 0.96 and currently running AHD 9.7 custom rom. So how can I upgrade my phone to jellybean?
I have searched through some threads but still confuse with feasibility and step by step guide. The question is can I flash the first original ROM nandroid backup and use the software update from setting? I have to relock the bootloader and reflash original recovery? How do I know which recovery to use as there is 1.26, 1.28, 1.29? Or can I just download the OTA zip and flash it directly on AHD 9.7 custom rom? Or should I just wait developer to upgrade their ROM compatibility?
Thanks in advance
Err... That's a lot of questions.
If you restore your backup and boot.img and flash the stock recovery (I'm not sure which one hboot 0.96 corresponds to, but after booting the ROM you'll know), you should be able to.apply several OTAs to get to JB.
I assume your backup is old, so you will want Titanium backup or something.
An alternative is to relock your bootloader
fastboot oem lock
download 2.17.707.x RUU from htcruu.com (ENDEAVORU) which will wipe your phone. Then apply one OTA and unlock or whatever you want.
Thanks a lot for your patience in answering my loads of questions! I guess flashing RUU is the way to go right?
Or alternatively can I just flash Maximus 8.5 by following the steps provided and use the firmware update as provided in here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957376?
BTW, will there be any difference if I use Maximus update instead of RUU, because I heard people are receiving battery update from OTA?

I just did a very manual method.
- Was on AOKP and I restored my original sense stock backup
- fastboot original boot.img (from within that backup),
- fastboot stock recovery,
and it's currently updating via OTA.
Fingers crossed!

you can extract the recovery from the original RUU, go to football's http://www.filefactory.com/f/7cc7b2fbdd03c031/ or http://www.htcruu.com/?dir=Endeavor (though often the RUU is corrupted), follow steps in here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30574349&postcount=859, then you are good to go You can find your RUU version via software version from your stock rom

Or run a ruu to get back to stock, or make.sure you have the rom, recovery and boot.img to stock. Then you can update the official way.
