Hi everybody,
I've installed a CyanMobile eXperience release on my Gio, everything is working fine except an error installing some application.
When i run the APK installation, it says a useless "Application not installed" error; restoring these apps by Titanium Backup, it took infinite time and nothing is installed.
Running ADB LOGCAT, the unique error i've found is:
Cannot install platform packages to user storage
Googling it seems to be a protection inserted in all new CyanogenMod releases, however on my old CyanogenMod nightly rom, i haven't got any problem.
Is there any way to bypass this check, possibly without resign apks, since i don't even have any certificate?
Thank you
Jack

Nobody have any idea? I suppose this error is not limited to this release...
Thank you

I know the answer to this is in the forums somewhere, but it won't let me search, keeps giving me an error, and I'm not finding any working solutions with google.
I keep getting the "can't install app, not enough space" error in the market.
I tried clearing market data/cache; clearing google services framework data; and un-mounting SD cards. I saw that there was an app that fixes the problem, and found it very ironic!
Error started about a week or so ago, was hoping it would go away with an updated nightly.
Currently running
CM7 - 107
Chads beta - 11
Mkt vers. - 2.3.6
Thanks for your help!
Not sure if this will help- but this happened to me 2 days ago. I was trying to install a WiFi tether program, and it wouldn't install and gave me that error.
Apparently the problem was that the new program conflicted with a previous WiFi tether program I already had installed. Instead of saying 'bad permissions' or 'file writing error' it said there wasn't enough space.
So there's a possibility that it's a problem with permissions OR it's just trying to install a file to a location that is already in use.
I got it to work by simply uninstalling the other WiFi tether program. Of course if *all* app's won't install for you, I really wouldn't know the first place to look.
I don't have an easy fix, but good luck.
Thanks for the suggestion. I actually had a little success a few minutes ago installing the app over the air using my laptop. Not a fix, but a decent work-around I guess
Sent from my Droid Ostentatious
how much user space do you have left of the 740 meg
One way around this problem is to initiate the install from web version of the market. Even if you are just updating an app you already downloaded find it on the market website and click install. For whatever reason, it won't give you the error.

I've read somewhere that there's a partition of space (150meg) for data files, and if it's full then it'll give that error for new installs.
They really need to get more specific errors because it seems like this 1 error can apply for several very different reasons.
I got an easy fix for this !!!!!!!
Simply go to the market, search cache fixer. !! That work! The market fixer dont work at my mobile, but Cache fixer did ! Så now i can download all sizes of games and apps
Hello, I recently tested and installed various version of ROMs and as gapps make them slower installed apps via apk. I used apk-downloader to pull apks from play store. But for some applications apks dont work, specifically ("HDFC bank").
While installing from file manager it simply says "App not installed."
Any idea how can I force it to be installed. I am guessing it as a security check in app which aborts the installation. It would be great to be able to use utility apps
FYI ... I am using latest built of '[ROM][4.4] CyanogenMod 11' from Albertos96.
Also I am missing something which is not allowing me to set 'whatsapp' as default messaging app. Any pointers?
Thanks to all the developers who made this possible. Sincerely appreciate it guys.
Hello,
I have had my HTC One M8 for a while now but I wasn't really happy with the soundquality while playing through my headphones, so I looked for ways to improve it. I found a few methods and finally decided to give it a try. These methods require a root so yesterday I have rooted my phone for the first time. Unfortunately I am experiencing some problems now.
The rooting process went without too much trouble. I used hasoon2000's toolkit and have TWRP version 2.7.0.2 installed as recovery and used it to install the provided SuperSU, which didn't work at first. On the forums I found a newer version and installed that one, updated it and got it to work.
Now this is where I think I messed up: I read somewhere that when rooted, you are able to delete pre-installed apps from the phone. I downloaded SD maid and deleted Kid Mode, Zoe and 7digital. When I deleted Kid Mode I got an error saying it has crashed. I tapped away the error but from this point I couldn't go back to my homescreen anymore because my launcher kept crashing (com.htc.launcher crashed). I rebooted the phone and the launcher worked again, but the phone still seemed to be buggy.
After this I tried to install the snapdragon audio+ (this was my first choice for an equalizer). I downloaded the apk and moved it to the system folder using ES file manager. I installed but when I tried to use it (through settings in google play music app) my phone would crash. I uninstalled it and tried again, but when I tried to move the apk to the system map like before, my phone would crash everytime. I then found out the file I used doesn't work for lollipop so I figured that's what caused the crashes.
My next move was to try and install viper4android. I downloaded it from the Play Store and opened it. It told me it needed an installation of BusyBox so I downloaded that too. But when I opened the BusyBox app and clicked install my phone would crash again. After some searching I found that the HTC One M8 requires BusyBox to be flashed manually so I downloaded the file but when I tried to load it onto my phone I noticed this wasn't possible anymore.
Now when I connect my phone to my PC the PC recognizes it, but when I open the map in Windows Explorer it only shows three maps; .showme, _nero_sync and Ringtones. I know there should be more as they were there before. It also shows my phone's capacity as a total of 10GB (shouldn't this be 16GB?). Also when I try to connect it with Sync Manager it gives me an error everytime I reconnect the phone; Device unavailable. Please reconnect your device [4].
I have tried to reset the phone through settings, wipe with TWRP and fix permissions with TWRP. I also tried reinstalling Sync Manager and the drivers on my PC. What I'm thinking now is I maybe have done something wrong in the ES file explorer that would make the folders unaccessible.
My phone is running stock android 5.0.1 and my PC Windows 7 64-bit.
I hope someone can help me, Thanks.
P.S: Sorry for the long post, I figured I'd give as much info as possible.
@Steef076 First update recovery to the latest one (2.8.6.0)
Second if you go and delete vital or integrated parts of the stock rom you will get a lot of bugs. Third, viper4android requires to write system and you can't write system with the stock kernel, you need an unsecured kernel or unsecure it yourself.
10GB is right since 6 is eaten by android. At this point I would just revert to a backup or install any custom rom around here. Most are close to stock and with no bloatware and come with root. You can even clean them further using a tool called ROM Cleaner. It will most likely solve all your problems
Did the deleted system apps reappear after reboot, or do they remain "uninstalled"? If the system is write protected like TempestZ states, any deleted system apps should reappear after a reboot.
Revert your nandroid to restore the system apps. And you didn't make a nandroid, you really should before making any system modifications for the very reason that it allows you to revert if you run into problems.
Another good practice, is if you don't know what effect deleting a system app will have (such as "safe to delete" lists that can sometimes be found on XDA) you should first freeze the app with Titanium Backup. If freezing doesn't cause any issues, then go ahead and delete. If you do have issues, just unfreeze the app.

No, Windows will never show 16 GB. It only shows "internal storage" partition, or the user accessible portion of the storage. A good chunk is reserved for the OS.
Does what is shown in Windows differ from what is shown in ES if you browse to internal storage?
Thanks for the replies. @TempestZ @redpoint73
First of all I managed to update twrp to 2.8.6.0 using adb/fastboot.
To answer your question @redpoint73 the system apps I had deleted indeed reappeared after reboot. Also I didn't make a nandroid before I deleted the files, as I did not even know this was possible. Now I have made a nandroid of my stock ROM that is working decently, except for the TV app keeps crashing (I'm not opening it) and the connection to the PC is not working properly (not sure if this is ROM based?). I have noticed when the phone is in recovery I CAN see the folders through windows explorer. HTC sync manager still doesn't find it though. I am working on finding a proper stock ROM or maybe flash a custom one to see if that will fix it.
I understand now that the OS is taking up the storage space. The space windows is showing is the same as ES file manager so I guess this is fine.
HTC Sync is a hot mess. It often causes more troubles than it solves.
One thing you can try (to see if it fixes the USB connectivity) is uninstall HTC Sync and all HTC drivers. Than connect the phone. Don't let it install HTC Sync. Go to Windows Device Manager, find the device. Then pick the option to manually select the drivers, and pick the generic "Android MTP device" (or something to that effect) drivers.
This doesn't work for everyone. But it worked for me to be able to "see" the internal storage of my M8 on my home PC (Win 7). Annoyingly, it seems to vary from one PC to another. My work laptop (also Win 7) works fine with HTC Sync.

So if I understand correctly, 'version-main' is the same as 'firmware' and 'software number' (found in settings)? If so, my current firmware seems to be 4.19.114.2.
Now, what you're saying is I should do an OTA but this isn't possible because I have a custom recovery right?
Also, when I want to flash stock rom and stock recovery or do a nand don't I need the files that fit my cidnum? How would your file work for me?

If yours already on 4.19.114.2 then no need to do OTA as that the latest.
and my backup will bring back your device back to stock as you first bought it when restore with a full wipe.
Try to solve your problem first, only when you really need the backup then only I will upload ... let me know

Hello, sorry for the late reply.
I have decided to give a custom ROM a try. I now have ARHD 41.0 installed and it seems this took care of my problems. All the maps are showing in windows explorer and HTC sync manager is connecting properly with my phone again. Also no more crashing apps. Your backup would still be of much use for me as I am not sure I want to stick with a custom ROM and therefore would like to have a stock ROM backup.
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
I recently upgraded to Lineage 14.1 bacon for my Oneplus One. I installed it using TWRP. I had made a backup of important apps via Titanium Pro Rooted (Dunno if this is relevant).
Also I made a backup of the system and data via TWRP just in case. After the first successful install, like a fool I tried to revert to the old build from TWRP Backup by using the restore process, where I tried to just restore the data part of the backup and not the system as well.
It got stuck at 50% during this process for more than 6 hours. I just rebooted the phone midway during the restore process, wiped the phone again to factory and re-installed Lineage 14.1 (with Gapps Micro which I did the first time as well).
Now for some reason after that, some of the apps that I try to install, just refuse to download from the App Store. They are permanently stuck at the downloading stage where the download progress bar never shows. After a few minutes they return with an Error 492. This is happening for apps like google chrome, microsoft excel, powerpoint & word, Line, Snapchat, Candy Crush, Magic Rush Heroes and few more apps. The rest of the apps just download fine.
My guess (since I am not an expert at any of this stuff) is that the restore process is where things got screwed up. I have wiped everything except internal storage (including dalvik cache and cache) to reinstall Lineage with gapps a few times and there is still no success in installing those few apps mentioned before. I have no clue how to solve this issue.
The Lineage and Gapps packages to be flashed are in internal storage and this device doesn't have an external SD Card. So I cannot wipe internal storage as well. IF there is a way to install Lineage with Gapps in spite of wiping internal storage then I dunno that process.
I am in a major fix here. Please help!
You can use adb push to put data on your internal memory. Ensure that you have usb debugging on when connect your phone.

Thanks for the suggestion! But here is the issue now! My friend in haste, wiped the whole internal storage. Now I had the data backed up luckily. But, there is no ROM or gapps zip available to flash and I am using TWRP 2.7.0.0 and I am unable to find an option to connect TWRP to an external memory such as USB OTG or USB Mass Storage to load the flash files onto the phone. It seems like my phone is bricked with only TWRP as the only recovery mode! Any way I can flash to Lineage again?

Ok I was able to push the zip files for Lineage and Gapps using adb from the computer. But now the problem is that TWRP is stuck in a permanent loop mode. The Teamwin screen appears and refreshes back to the same screen all the time. Should I switch to CWM?
Upon further research I found that using fastboot mode I can flash the latest TWRP image. I did that and thankfully the image that I had sideloaded through ADB was available and I was able to install Lineage and Gapps. Question now remains is that should I install SuperSU and root my device as it still says that the device is unrooted!
Ok back to square one! The apps listed in my original question still dont seem to be installing even after completely wiping the phone and installing Lineage OS 14.1 and gapps afresh. Any suggestions???

Thanks for the suggestion @rk92. I used adb push to install the rom and gapps per your suggestion! But the issue of above said apps not installing still persists in spite a clean wipe of the phone.

When I login to Google Play Store using my google account, the apps that wont install show as installed. I do not own any other device except the oneplus one that I flashed from Cyanogenmod 12.1 to Lineage 14.1 Bacon Nightly. The apps are showing as installed in the same device, whereas they are clearly not! I checked all apps under the settings section and not one of these apps are installed. This is really something strange as an issue! Any ideas forum members? Is there any thread on XDA with a solution to this problem? Please help!

What is your version of Gapp. I think for Lineage 14.1 you need 7.1.1. Sometime back I had an issue when the play service would suddenly stop. I had flashed from cm13 to slimrom. I flashed the stock rom and then flashed to slimrom and this didn't happen. May this is not properly cleaning up your /system.

I flashed gapps nano arm Nougat 7.1.. So guess that isnt the issue?
Ok even my storage seems to be blocked! I am not able to transfer files via MTP, OTG, Shareit and my camera isnt recognising the internal shared storage. The camera has permissions to access storage though. Using all file explorers available in the market, I am still not able to create folders, transfer files etc. Could this be a corrupt storage????
I have the exact same problem. I use Lineage 14.1 (2017 04 10) and android 7.1.1. I Also have certain apps which don't install (facebook, facebook messenger, snapchat). The download does not progress and after a couple minutes i also get error code 492. I just got this phone off a friend of mine, meaning i just did a factory data reset, but that didn't solve the problem.
I've always used apple or nokia in my life, thus i am a real noob at android. If a solution is found in this forum thread i'd be really happy as i can than fully use my 'new' oneplus one.

@rk92 which Stock Rom did you flash? Coz as far as I remember reading there is no AOSP Build for OPO.

@Kees de Groot Welcome to the club! Hope there are other active expert devs who can solve our problem!
@rk92 thanks a lot for your help! My internal storage permissions was the problem. It got fixed when I ran some adb shell commands from my laptop with USB Debugging enabled. Everything is normal now. Error 492 fixed.
@Kees de Groot I have a feeling that your app permissions are a problem. Check access to your internal storage. If you are able to access internal storage on your Oneplus using File Explorer to modify internal storage data, then fixing app permissions for the ones not installing will help you install them. Because all the apps that you are unable to install are due to permissions issues. These apps are not able to get access to internal storage. If internal storage access is the issue for you as well (in spite of being a rooted user), then run the commands posted on this thread. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2222297
It should fix your permissions.
Hope that helps.
Could a moderator close this thread as solved?

Hello everybody,
maybe one of you can give me a hint where this problems might come from and how to fix:
I have installed LimeageOS 18.1 on my Fairphone 3+ successfully (incl. OpenGApps & Magisk) and in the beginning I was able to install some apps (e.g. WhatsApp) from my old phone (using "adb install <appName>.apk" as well as transfering the data structure(s) from the old phone to the new Fairphone (incl. fixing permissions, etc.).
The next time I wanted to continue this and install further apps from my old phone, this is blocked by the Fairphone (Signature failure). I was able to solve this by disabling the app checking when installing is done from/by adb. But the installed apps crash every time I try to start these. When I install these by the PlayStore these work. Previously I definitely was able to install apps without deactivating the security check in the system settings and these were working!
Furthermore, I had successfully installed and used WhatsApp as described previously. But: some day, BEFORE I started to install further apps using adb, WhatsApp started refusing to show the status pictures/videos as well as refuses to download pictures send to me (message: file not found on sd-card). But I still can upload pictures.
Between initial setup and installation of some apps, I've done nothing special except inserting an SD card and formatting as extension of the internal memory. At least I don't remember more...
Has anybody an idea what might have happened and how I could make things working without a full re-installation?
Any hint is welcome!
Regards,
Markus
