Wallpaper problems - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hey. Just a quick question, does anyone else have problems with there wallpapers bouncing around after the phone is being woke up. I have tried numerous different tasks but still the same. It happens with the standard wallpapers that come with the device. I have tried my own picture from gallery, also does it with live wallpapers. Usually I do the built in task manager and clear the RAM then I have to do that 3-4 times a day. It's just pretty annoying.

I guess I'm the only one with this problem?

I have noticed this also. When it goes from the swipe to unlock screen to the pattern unlock screen the background shifts down. Not a big deal but annoying.

Would you say it sounds similar to this?
"Also adding that lock screen and home screen wallpaper are the same. I don't recall seeing this prior to my factory reset, but now when i unlock my device, the wallpaper shifts upward a hair, but enough to blur when doing so. Distracting and annoying."
Just gathering info right now. You are the only on eI have seen with what seems to be the same or similar issue. Thanks in advance.

Sounds similar. It's more like my wallpaper is trying to recenter when unlocked. I have tried the same backgrounds still the problem.
I got my SGN2 from wirefly.com.
Was hoping it wasn't some quality issue

Laggy launcher & homescreen transitions

Anyone else notice that it gets a little jittery when you're on the app drawer and you hit the home key? When the icons do that zoom out, it's not as smooth as the rest of the phone usually is. It's minor, I know, but I'm starting to think maybe Apple has a patent on a smooth UI (that's a joke).
I've also noticed bad performance with live wallpapers on the home screens, it's really rough with most live wallpapers. I previously had the Epic 4G Touch (Galaxy S 2) and it was ALWAYS smooth as butter, even with live wallpapers... when running the stock TouchWiz UI. So while the processor/gpu in the GS2 is probably better, it seems to me like it's more of a software issue.
It doesn't bother me enough to want to go back to the Galaxy S II, mind you, physically this phone is superior and I sure love me some vanilla ICS... but are any of you noticing this with custom ROMs as well?
EDIT: I wanted to add, I've tried Nova & Apex, and I didn't notice a difference in this regard.
When you tried Apex did you turn on the setting that saves your home screen in memory? I have noticed almost zero lag with this option selected

It seems to help just a little with live wallpapers when sliding between homescreens, but it has zero effect on how jittery it is when you're in the app drawer and you hit the home button (when the icons "fly away" and you go back to the home screen).
I dont have any App drawer to Home lag.
Every stock LWP except "Phase Beam" lags afaik. Kinda sucks but how it is.

I will confirm that the zoom out animation when hitting home from the app drawer is not as smooth as it should be. My old Samsung Fascinate is on AOKP and the transition out of the app drawer is actually smoother than my Nexus. I wouldn't call it lag but it's definitely not as smooth as it should be.

On this phone, yes. On the Galaxy S2... no.
To contradict the apple joke, I have an iPod touch 4th Gen and my friend has an iPhone 4S, both of them get laggy transitions after a while, especially after opening a few apps. I'm on stock and have zero lag. Nova had less then apex from what I've used.

Same for me ..
The live wallpapers all lag, but its gotta be a software issue not yet fixed.
The app drawer fly away animation is weird, cause I do see that stutter sometimes. But then a lot of the time its smooth. Not sure what that's all about. But I'm of the opinion that everything can be smoothed with a software tweak.

These forums exist for many reasons including discussing problems, right? This is an obvious problem and I'd like to discuss it. Thanks.
Your solution here is to live with it or get a different phone and you've been "thanked" at least a couple of times for it. That's super constructive. Do you honestly not understand why I brought up the Galaxy S2 as a comparison, or do I need to draw pictures?
Am I the only one that finds it frustrating that Google's flagship device doesn't perform as well as other devices in something as simple as homescreen transitions or opening/closing the app drawer?
IMO its the soft key glow animations causing the "lag". There's a mod which I have done which shortens the length of the glow animations, its basically eliminated the lag you are talking about.

Nope it drives me crazy too. I have started using Apex launcher with the widgets tab hidden so its just apps and its better but still jitters a bit. I even get jitters and lag on the lockscreen. I turned auto brightness off which helped but from time to time it lags crazy if i swipe fast.
Its not good enough.
My friend and my wifes best friend have nexus s's and they perform a lot better than my Gnex with the stock launcher which is just embarrising.

So...what did you accomplish by bringing up the GS2?
Did you...fix your problem?
Did you...make yourself feel better?
We all get it, the GS2 doesn't lag on live walls. Well, guess what? This one does, like most android devices. This is a fact, and it may or may not get fixed. So really, bringing the GS2 into any conversation regarding the Galaxy Nexus is NOT constructive. Comparing the GS2 to this device is going to be met with irritated folks because we have been listening to it for the last 6 months. I am sure I am not speaking only for myself when I say I am sick and tired of it.
This is not a PC. We can't just go throw extra parts in it, and upgrade the hardware. Therefore, the only solution to your problem is another device. I am sorry if it offends you, but it is a fact. Take the good with the bad, or find another device that is better for you. This is how the smartphone world works.

[Q] Missing Screen Space

This is probably going to be a really obvious question that is right in front of my face, but I just don't see it!
I have a Galaxy Nexus (CDMA), running LiquidSmooth, and yesterday I realized that the bottom row of my home screens (above the row of icons that has a name that is escaping me) is gone. Widgets that used to have something under them now stretch to the bottom. For example, on one homescreen I had the Audio Manager widget on top, then the Friendcaster widget, then some system icons (Settings, Astro, Rom Toolbox, etc.) under that. Now the two widgets are the only things on the screen, with no extra space for icons under them.
It's like I managed to resize the resolution or something. I don't know when it started, or what I might have done prior to it. I thought I was going crazy when I first noticed it, because it isn't a problem I've ever had before. I'm probably going to flash a new rom tonight, and see if that solves it, but does anyone have a clue what might have happened?
Thanks in advance!
screenshots please.
In your launcher what is your grid size?
I'm sure it is possible to change the grid size in Apex Launcher, but I'm not having any luck finding it. Might be paid version only, but I'm still looking.
Argh, can't post the screenshots until I have more posts. The annoyance of being a lurker sometimes. :/

Wallpaper issue I'm having...

Ive taken tons of pics with my phone that are 8mp or better. ...but for some reason every time i choose a photo to add as my wallpaper on this Tab S, it zooms it and screws the image. Ive done a lot of searching and saw people were having this issue with phones and apps were made to fix, but is there a fix for a tablet? So annoying!!!
Yes its a touchwiz bug, this can be easily fix by installing some wallpaper apps from playstore or using different launchers
I am using Nova and still have it.
I had this problem with wallpapers, i used nova and that fixed it for me
Wonder if it's a Nova setting
Switched to ADW...same thing...So damn annoying. I chose this tab over an iPad Air 2 and something so simple as wallpaper is difficult!!
Can you post a screenshot of what it looks like?

Three little "problems" I found using the OnePlus 5T

Hey guys,
while I'm extremely happy with the phone (awesome screen, perfect fingerprint location IMO, general form factor), I've come across three little problems:
1.) The biggest "flaw": Using another launcher / wallpaper than the stock one causes the face-unlock to be slower. And if you set another launcher / wallpaper, there will be a noticeable delay when you turn on the screen: The wallpaper will take longer to appear on the screen than everything else.
2.) The time between hitting the power button on the right / using the double-tap-to-wake feature and the screen actually turning on is almost a second. Coming from the 3T btw, where it almost felt instant.
3.) I'm not sure whether it's a flaw but it's just something that looks strange: The greyish navbar when using a dark-themed app. (I wouldn't really call this a problem, it's just a consistency flaw you notice, while operating the phone.
So first of all: Do you have the same impressions? It might very well just be my phone and you don't encounter these problems. But in another thread I already read about the face-unlock time taking longer, when using another launcher / wallpaper.
Thanks in advance for any replies and experiences!

Thanks Lum_UK, but I already tried that one. I find it to be a bit slow in overlaying the "correct" color, i.e. the overlay isn't always there from the beginning when opening an app.
And I'm not interested in rooting anymore.
You can force it to just black in that app, which may be preferable to the grey, and avoids the delay issue.
Otherwise, probably not much you can do unless a future OOS adds new options.

So far I tried Nova, Lawnchair and the stock launcher. I'm encountering this problem with Nova and Lawnchair, not with the stock one. But if I set a custom wallpaper in the stock launcher, the wallpaper-appearing-delay is also there.

#2 is because of face unlock. Disable it and it will be instant.
Personally i use ambient display + lift up display so when i pick the phone i can see the clock and if needed, the double tap to wake in that screen is instant too

You can turn off the animation in Navbar Apps as well. That way the correct color will load much faster.
I don't use Face Unlock, but everything turns on instantly for me.
However, the nav bar color oscuro the worst and I can't wait to get back to a good AOSP firmware. OxygenOS is great and all but missing very important features I just can't live (comfortably) without.

You're right! This means bye-bye then to face unlock, unless this is fixed. I'm using smart lock anyway. :good:
Thank you for all your replies so far! They really were helpful!
Now could you still say something about "problem" #1? Do you observe the same or is it different? So if you use another launcher / wallpaper, will the wallpaper take longer to load then everything else?
1. agreed, same exact issue here.
2. i dont have that issue. both FP and FU are pretty much instant. sounds strange. maybe factory reset is really the way to go.
3. yea i agree, not optimal.
Hey guys,
I just wanted to give a heads up to you: I just discovered how to avoid the 'wallpaper-lag' while turning the screen on when using a non-stock wallpaper or non-stock launcher:
1. Force stop the OnePlus launcher.
2. Uninstall any updates to it.
3. Use the launcher you like. (Tested with lawnchairs and Nova)
At least for me, the wallpaper lag is gone!

For me this doesn't solve the problem. If the wallpaper is set through another launcher (Nova in my case) and if I use Nova, when using face unlock, i first see the lock screen for some split seconds and then it unlocks. If the lockscreen wallpaper is set through the OnePlus launcher itself, it skips the split seconds on the lockscreen completely and goes directly onto the homescreen which feels much more instantaneous. Also if I'm using a live wallpaper, like the nice new Pixel wallpapers which I wanted to use, the problem occurs even when setting the wallpaper through the OnePlus launcher and when using OnePlus launcher itself.
I've uninstalled the OnePlus launcher updates and tried to force stop it (although this wasn't possible as it seemingly wasn't even started to begin with), but nothing changed.
And yes, the wallpaper will often times take longer to appear on the screen than everything else, exactly like Dimitry from Hardware Canucks demoed in his review:
https://youtu.be/Kf93Nz_bgFs?t=7m48s
This looks very glitchy in my opinion but is of course rather nitpicky.
And as Sangraphim said, the time between hitting the power button on the right / using the double-tap-to-wake feature and the screen actually turning on is definetly prolonged when using face unlock - but that's probably by design I guess, because it starts the front camera first and waits a bit to detect a face before actually turning on the screen.

Wallpaper Sideways

Over the last few days, the wallpaper on my Note 10+ has been turning sideways and sticking like that. The actual home screen does not turn landscape - just the wallpaper. the only way I can fix it is by restarting the phone.
Anyone experiencing this or have a fix?
I use Nova Launcher.
Thanks.

I think it's a bug. I reported it to Samsung Member. I started a reddit thread in hopes to find answers because like you, I have tried changing the wallpaper back, but it just keeps changing back. It only seems to happen after exitting landscape video apps/ or apps.
Because I signed up to reply to this, I can't post URLs.
I hope this helped ease you.

I was just having the same problem since I updated yesterday. I think I just fixed it. I went up to the search bar on the homescreen by dragging the top of the screen down and searched wallpaper. Opened that up and it showed my current selected wallpaper on lockscreen and regular homescreen. Below that I had dark mode selected (I guess that is new with the update) I unselected it. It fixed it. I wanted to be sure so I went to an app the went into landscape mode and then closed it and it stayed fixed.
