OK So i searched google and xda for proof the Note 2 has a led notification light some say it does others say it dont, looking at the phone i think it does, but looks can be decieving. After watchin loads of videos on youtube i still cant find any that actually show the light, so if someone who owns this phone can finally tell me once and for all whether it does or doesnt have 1 i would appreciate it,
or even better knock up some pics or a video to prove it.
cheers.

It's also Red and Green.
In fact, it can be any colour you like using Light Flow or similar apps.

So, now that Telus has released the Desire HD, I'm finally seriously thinking about giving up my N1.
Just curious about the notification LED. Obviously it's not going to be as bright or large as the N1, but how is it in general? Noticeable? Good size? Customizable with apps or ROMS (I will be moving to CM7 asap on it)?
Just curious...
It doesn't have an LED notification light

Seems like it does. I've also seen videos that briefly show it flashing. But I haven't really seen a video with a good look at it, hence my question...
interesting...i just got the phone yesterday. It does seem to have an LED....doesn't work for me on emails though....that's why i thought it didnt have one!
It works alright, but the view angles are limited because it's behind the grille. If you look at it straight on, it's bright enough.
And you might want to have yours checked if the LED does not work, try *#*#3424#*#* and choose LED test.
$1m reward for information leading to turning off the lights in the home/menu/back/search buttons. They waste power and more important when I read at night with low light red render, the bright button lights are blinding.
Hmm. It depends in the rom you are using.
If it is a cyanogen kind rom you simply change the settings.
Kind regards Holger.

If you like to read at night SCREEN FILTER (free from market) is a great program.
Where is my $1m?

SUPERB!!!!
For so long I have been wondering could I switch off the softkey lights while watching media. It's a waste of battery and not needed.
Watching a TV show with 3 bright lights lit up on the phone. argh... I use this app now to keep brightness for screen at 100% but just to turn off annoying button lights while watching movie etc.
Nice.
Thanks Artukas

Hi
Is there a way to disable the charging LED temporary? It's annoying while reading ebooks...
Can anyone help?
https://market.android.com/details?id=imoblife.blink&feature=search_result
Can't remember if this app requires root access... I would suppose it does, coz you'll need root to access system files... but give it a try anyway. Good luck =)
Don't forget to thank me using the thanks button! =)
Thanks. But this app can't stop the charging LED. It only controls the SMS, missed Phonecalls, low Battery and such things :-(
Any other ideas?
Why would you want to Disable the charging LED then how would you know when your phone is fully charged and on charge?
As i wrote before, the LED is anoying while reading ebooks on my DHD. I usualy reading books in the night. My room is dark and i only want to see the DHD-Display. White text on a black Background. And NO damn orange light! ;-)

I have noticed for different reminders, our galaxy s3 has a lot more colors included in this LED. Was wondering if there is any app I could use to control these specific colors yet? I've tried blink, sms popup, and LED control and the colors you have to pick from are not matching with what colors the phone flashes. Just didn't know if there was anything out there yet for us to control that
I noticed this too. It's funny once I noticed it was purple lol. But it would be cool to find a app or maybe it come in a ROM or something. But I doubt anything is like that now. Just have to stay patient and let the devs know about it and hope we can see it in the near future.
Lightflow.... It is almost ready for GS3 the development of it is occurring as we speak.

Is Lightflow going to be in a ROM or just a flashable zip or an app?

App looks pretty cool. Thanks for the information.
So if I'm not mistaken this app isn't ready yet for the gs3 right? Last time I used it the colors were off. You would choose red and get white or choose green and get red.

Yes, They are having some issues right now. Maybe the next update it will be fixed. Last time it was updated was July 17th.
Hey guys, good news. I found a free app called light manager. Its in the market/play store. It will let you modify the led color and flash rate. And it actually picks up the correct colors too. Check it out, it was just updated today 07/31/2012.

I am running stock. This has all different colors. It also will produce random white/blue LEDs without any notification in the notification bar.
Another option would be to root, and go with the CM10 preview build (it's very stable at this point, good enough for a daily). You can apply LED colors/blink intervals to just about anything with it. No other apps or hacking required. :good:
Doesn't look like Light Manager or Light Flow works yet.
Could be differences between models

I've tried both as well, I'm on a Telus SIII (I747M) and not having any luck with any of the suggested apps, but I have heard of people getting it to work. So at this point, it could be possible its a difference in the devices and control of them. I'm glad someone is looking into this because I used to have a BlackBerry and I loved the ability to customize the LED completely down to what colour light flashes when a certain contact texts or calls. It was so customizable, this is the first Android device I've had that has an LED, so hopefully we will be able to take control of it! :good:
Works on S III
Works great on my Galaxy SIII (rooted, Sprint version) !
I'll vouch for Light Flow, but its a little buggy. my green light stays on when i have signal (even when turned off)
Light flow just got updated today and fixed the green light always on with a lot of other app fixes.
Lightflow is cool. But all assigned colors do not work... Yet....

Is there any mod or app that let me use the hard button's LED in front of my ARc as a Notification with every message or missed call that come??
the existing LED made for that, doesnt help a lot...:crying:
Good idea actually. Using cm9, which isn't that stable on my phone , the notification led is much brighter and more helpful than before..
It's not really using the back lights of the hard buttons but on the play store my wife uses a free app called noled.
It shows up on locked screen.
Hope this helps

I read a few months ago, before I rooted my arc, that this app can control the front LED's. However it did require root, so i couldn't try it. Links below:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rageconsulting.android.lightflow&hl=en (there is a free version as well)
You've just reminded me about this, I'm going to have a play around with it tomorrow now. Thanks

Hi!! have you already tried it?? did it work??
Lightflow doesn't seem to work for the "button backlight" LEDs if you're on ICS.
Personally, I use Tasker, and writing a custom task to make the button backlight come on when you receive a text or email isn't too difficult. You can adjust the brightness of the LEDs too, so I have it full brightness for a text, and a bit dimmer for an email.
