[Q] Flyme Os 1.0.6 - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hey everyone, would it be possible to get the Flyme os 1.0.6 ported to the galaxy nexus phone, as it does support the lattest ICS rom.

ICS? Welcome to 2011
We should have 4.2 before Thanksgiving...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium

Everything on it is in a foreign language (obviously Asian, if I had to guess I'd say Chinese?) so before any work could begin somebody would have to translate it.

I don't imagine many devs would be interested in porting it, as the GN's base version is Jelly Bean 4.1.2 and we'll be at 4.2 in a couple weeks. There's just not going to be a whole lot of interest in downgrading to a forked ICS when even bare stock is more feature-rich. It's a good project for those phones that lag behind on the OS version, but a waste of time and effort for a device that is significantly more current in and of itself.

It's been ported to the Galaxy S2, but even then I'd hardly consider it to be worthy of being a daily driver since it only sorta works. It's a nifty project for an older, behind the power curve handset, but would be utterly pointless on the Galaxy Nexus.

Question
Well, ultimately the advantage of having jelly bean would provide better performance as i currently am using the lattest MIUI rom which is developed from JB, but i'm more looking at the "Flyme Os" features and general GUI, if it can be ported ontop of JB for performance that would be awesome. Really would like to know if it can be done, even after translating the application.

Officially, no, but trough xda developers, yes
Desire HD is more than capable. the problem is with HTC. Somehow i doubt that we will get the official ICS.
What's good about android is that we get to have independent developers developing roms for us so I'm pretty sure we will get an early port for our device once the sources comes out.
Google should start releasing sources now!!!
I think this update will be the reason i finally root my DHD. ICS looks awsome. I'm currently just using the GO Launcher with a honeycomb theme and that looks and feels a damn site better than Sense
no official news by now.
we should wait for sense roms based on ice cream sandwich. I can not live without official sense on my phone personally .
yes, one of the reasons why i rooted my desire HD last week because i know devs will be porting ICS to our phone. can't wait for that to happen. I'll be glad to donate to anyone that will be bringing an early ICS port to our phone

HTC are reviewing ICS because some of the improvments in ICS was brought by Sense on gingerbread, but there is no timeline for any device to get ICS but Cyanogenmod publicly announced no CM9 roms will be out untill the Source is out. they dont fiddle with SDK's

Sorry Mr. Moderator.

I hope it will come soon officially. I really love HTC and their work but if they keep ignoring previous models to sell the new ones, I will definetely change to samsung or sth else. Making you do things which only they allow is one of the reasons I hate about Apple, which even they are upgrading their previous devices, HTC is acting even worse. I already feel extremely disappointed about Sense 3.0 or 3.5 not coming to DHD officially, that would be too much.
Here is the Nexus Prime dump.
Hope some devs will take it on and port it=)

I'm really glad seeing that developement in Desire HD Section goes that fast forward
But the devs need the source code of ICS , which will be released if the Galaxy Nexus gets released... doesn't they?
SO it will be a matter of time until ics will come on our desire hd's ..
maybe we just waiting the dev to port it to our DHD....

+1 I especially dislike not being able to update my device just because the manufacturer doesn't want me to, lucky we have xda. According to mike the ARHD dev sense 3 and 3.5 will soon come to DHD officially. The current ARHD rom is a leaked official sense 3 rom from HTC.

Wonder how many people forget that the E4GT is a Galaxy S II class phone and not THE Galaxy S II and find themselves in a world of pain.
I find it to be weird, that Samsung isn't introducing a new version of tw with the ice upgrade... they reworked tw quite a bit on the gingerbread upgrade... every other manufacturer (f.ex. HTC) reworked they skin also...
Even more bizarre it is for Samsung not to implement useful features like creating a folder via drag and drop into tw.

My guess is wait for the SGS3 then we might se a totally revamped TouchWiz. I do agree though but at the same time I think one reason why we are not seeing a totally reworked version is to keep the time down on the release. I mean it's already been 5+ months since the GNexus was released a total revamp of TouchWiz could take some time.

I don't think that kind of minor upgrade would benefit us a lot. Just wait for CM9 from acro.
At least this 'Value Pack' will add some value to GB. Its a good news for GB's lovers, but all here including me wants ICS.
I hope arco will release CM9 to public in April.

This value pack actually translates to u will never get ICS. Its looking less likely that an ICS rom will ever appear frim any modder. They r worse than samsung they tease us with how good it is yet never let us put it on our devices. Stinks awfully like vapourware to me. A device less than 6 months old has been dropped. I will never buy another samsybg product again. as of now this piece of crap galaxy is going onsale and i will buy from someone else. abyobe else buying from samsung look elsewhere.
This is super sick. What do Samsung really want? I guess this might be an indirect way saying ICS won't be out for the W. Gah, I will hate the value pack. -.-

Samsung will update the next models with a special ”value pack” update.
- Samsung I9000 Galaxy S.
- Samsung I9001 Galaxy S Plus.
- Samsung I9003 Galaxy SL.
- Samsung I8150 Galaxy W.
- Samsung P1000 Galaxy Tab.
This Value pack will be available upcoming months.
You could get a update via KIES or OTA (over the air)
What means: ”value pack”
A value pack is a special update for smartphones to give them a extra boost.
This value pack will give you things like facelock, small interface changes, battery and speed.
All value packs are based on Android 2.3.6!
the reason these manufacturers deny us ICS is the claim that our devices can not handle ICS and their useless customization like touchwiz (Samsung) and sense (HTC) together. Emphasis on the "claim".
Now Samsung sold over ten million galaxy s and w who knows how many.
Can we just force them to release pure ICS and say screw touchwiz... or at least release the drivers so that our beloved and capable developers here port ics for us.
There are so many users unhappy with this treatment of the manufacturers.

No CyanogenMod for Galaxy S4

No!!!!! Say it ain't so! I love CyanogenMod so much this might actually stop me from buying the single most awesome device I have ever waited for. I guess that says a lot about the CyanogenMod Team.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
Doesn't mean jack. Someone will end up doing a port of CyanogenMod to the S4, whether or not the CM team gives its "blessing." At this point, there's nothing they can do to stop it.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S III using Tapatalk 2
The question is whether it will be a functional stable port but I am staying optimistic.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
True, but I've learned to never underestimate the ingenuity of the Android development community.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S III using Tapatalk 2
They already stated that this post doesnt speak for the whole CM team. Just some of the Samsung maintainers.
We should have all seen this coming with the lack of developer support Samsung has been doing as of late.
Will someone make a port? Most likely. will it be as stable as a CM version? Most likely not. To be honest. The S4 is nothing big compared to the S3. Yes it has a few cool features but those features will be lost on AOSP. Mainly as Samsung will not release the code for it so you will only see those features on a TW rom.
Isn't it a bit early to for a definitive "no" about a CyanogenMod?
Like the phone I read isn't being released 'till the end of April as the earliest estimate.
I am not really hugely disappointed to be honest. I have to say the stock rom on this phone is one of the better ones and I do use it quite often. If any phone can stand alone on stock it is this one in my opinion.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
If you want all the stuff to really work you already need a TW based ROM anyways. I don't see Sammy opening up more with sharing code, smells like they are going the other way.

There will probably be lesser CM support for the international S4 model due to developers frustration with Exynos chips. Us version, however, will be shipped with good fully supported Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and should be fine receiving developers love.
Edit: to sum it up, here is an official CyanogenMod stance on topic from their Google + page. Well put!
CyanogenMod10:59 AM - Public
Setting Device Expectations
Let’s start with the simplest form of this: CyanogenMod does not pre-announce support or lack of support for devices. Ever. Even for the Nexus 4, we did not announce support until a nightly build was available. Further, any announcement regarding the ‘dropping’ of device support will be communicated via this Google+ page, Twitter, Facebook, our blog, or a combination of those; it will not be something buried in a forum post.
This morning, a comment from a CM collaborator on XDA was taken to be as an ‘absolute’ in regards to support of the S4. He offered the opinion of four TeamHacksung maintainers, their frustrations and lack of interest in supporting the S4. What’s seemingly lost on those reading this is that his comments as an individual do not speak for CyanogenMod as an organization.
As for the team’s stance on the S4, there isn’t one at this time, and most definitely won’t be one before the device is sold at retail.

I was about to post a ss of that very post. Oh, here it is anyway. For the unbelievers.
If I wanted a buggy build of Android that delivers less battery life, less stability, and less features than TouchWiz, just so I could say that I'm running stock Android, I'd go with CM. Therefore at the present, this development is of no concern to me. I have ran CM on all of my previous devices including the Evo and Galaxy S2. Worked decently well on the Evo (better than Sense), but lots of issues with the S2. With my S3, absolutely no reason to get away from TouchWiz.

TouchWiz isn't all that bad, IMO.
But I far and away prefer to run AOSP.
Sucks to hear that some members of CyanogenMod aren't happy with the S4, or Samsung in general.
I upgrade phones every year. Why not. But I've learned my lesson. I won't upgrade again until CyanogenMod has matured for a few months for ROM's on any particular phone.
Flashing a new ROM every two-three days hoping to find something fixed, suxes. I'd rather have an awesome ROM than an awesome phone.

That's the thing, I don't have time to screw around with flashing nightlies hoping that whatever problem I have is fixed, and praying that no new problem is introduced. I dealt with this with every phone I've had in the past, and it's not fun. I agree that the new features of 4.2 are nice, but not nice enough to deal with the issues of AOSP. Besides, TouchWiz is fast, fluid, and gets excellent battery life, and has far more features than stock Android. To me, CM is a downgrade and a headache. A phone is a tool, not a project.

Would love to see how this ports over to bigger devices like say the nexus 7 or my N10 FWIW PA performance isn't great on nexus tablets and support for GNex is much better than the N7 or N10. Maybe if they can fix input lag they would have something here for all nexus devices, not just our GNex

No porting necessary. Builds for the N7 and N10 are compiled directly from source. Ive been running it on my N7 for months without problems. I suppose there could be smoother ROMs but ive been satisfied with the performance of PA.
Just want to preface my comments, yes I know it is compiled from source and PA android will release official new builds to nexus devices first just like they did with PA 3.0, I just used the word port kinda loosely just because the experience for PA is much better on the GNex and I just wish PA team would make a smoother ROM for tablets too that's consistent with the user experience on the GNex or N4. I do think PA is better suited for larger devices and it is really popular on the larger devices too

You obviously don't own a Nexus tablet or haven't run PA on it. Besides allowing one to choose from the phone or phablet mode, PA has the option to select the classic tablet interface as well. In addition to that the color and app dpi settings lend themselves well to the tablet form factor. Not to mention the feature in the OP. I'd say hybrid mode is welcome on a tablet.

Any performance issue is probably the kernel. Generally I stick with whatever kernel comes with the rom but if it doesn't cut it I will load another one such as Franco.

All that stuff is gimmicky stuff, i honestly never used per app DPI or per app colour settings when i used pa on my gnex, none of that stuff is practical for everyday use, i prefer atom rom as it has hybrid but they call it ui mode instead an pie but without all that per app crap, i prefer my 64gb retina iPad to any android tablet while playing games like injustice an tekken which will never be on google playstore, unless Google offer decent games like appstore has there's no point in owning a android tablet as gaming is the main selling point of tablets with the bigger screen to enjoy them on, people spend more time gaming on tablets than using consoles these days because of their portability an paying 99c rather than $80 for a game.

I agree hybrid mode is better suited for tablets which is why I said PA is more of a tablet ROM because of the hybrid settings, my main gripe with PA is the input lag which makes playing games on this ROM unsuitable for my taste even with ktoonsez kernel raising the thermal throttling control you run into lag with it stutter especially in the GPU and that just shouldn't happen, I don't game a lot but when I do I want a fluid experience that's consistent with the experience of the ROM as well. Also speaking of kernel I know Franco has been pretty busy with his N4 not giving a lot of love to the N10 though, haven't had an updated kernel in over a month now...here's to hoping
