[Q] Post Jelly Bean Issues Here!! - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Is anyone having Jelly Bean issues? I am having the following issues:
1) Marking Messages as Read. If I have an unread message and the Messaging app is open under the home screen, if I use the lock screen shortcuts to open Google Now, it marks the message as read and then opens Google Now. It never did this on ICS.
2) Home Button Issues. If the screen turns off and I hit the home button to turn it on, it goes directly to the home screen. On ICS, it would just go to the most recent app (I have mostly avoided this happening again by enabling S Voice, but there's got to be a solution). Also, when I hold down the home button to open the Recent Apps screen, it will sometimes go to the home screen, and then open Recent Apps. Also, sometimes there is a delay between when I close an app and when it shows up in the Recent Apps screen.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Your help would be much appreciated!

I'm running FreeGS3 with Ktoonz 10/28 kernel and the blue battery bubble icon (with mod file flashed first) and I have the following issues.
1) The LED isn't as bright when on the charger when the phone is on... the red and green are quite dim. No issues when the phone is off (believe this is directly related to the JB ROM itself.
2) After 7 hours on the charger the battery was charged to 98%, When I was running w/o either the kernel or battery morph no issues.
3) Something took away the boot animation as I have just a black screen after the Samsung Galaxy SIII screen until you see the home screen.
Thanks in advance for detailed answers

Home button
I also had the same issue with the home button since s voice was frozen, enabling s voice double tap seemed to be the only way to fix. Hopefully a way that does not require s voice is found soon.

[Q] Touch Screen goes nuts after root/bloatware removal?

I recently rooted my phone and removed some bloatware (all backed up btw) mainly the ones on the safe list in the thread posted about it here. I don't know if that is what is causing the following problem, but just to preface that if so.
I noticed it yesterday when I was trying to type something using swype, when I finished letting go the screen started to randomly tap and drag letters without me even touching it. I stopped had to turn the screen off/on to get it to stop. I also notice that if I hold the phone vertically and move it around a bit it starts to drag the home screens back and forth. Also when I am at the phone menu it's hard to tap the exact number I want. If I tap 5 say, it will randomly either tap 5 or 8. It's liek it's not calibrated.
So I go to the display to calibrate it and it kind of sort of alleviates some of the other issues, but I still have inaccurate touces. Is it a program I removed perhaps from htc that is necessary for the screen. Do I need to update the firmware on the rooted one?

Problem with Screen Off and Lock on Defy

Dear all Defy users,
I am the developer of "Screen Off and Lock" and would like to seek for your reports regarding using the app on your phone. Since I received some reports about the screen will go off and on again after 1 to 2 seconds, could someone give me the following details:
1. The ROM you are using
2. Method of using the app (i.e shortcut from launcher / shortcut from notification bar / long press the search button etc)
3. Delay device locking option is enabled or disabled
4. Kind of screen off animation
5. Problem description (such as screen off and on after several seconds, no animation and screen just goes off immediately etc)
I don't have a Defy for testing so every report from you guys will be appreciated and sorry for my limited English.

1. Official 2.2 Froyo CEE Rooted
2. Shortcut from notification bar + long press/search button
3. 1 sec
4. No animation
5. The screen doesn't goes off but it locks itself. After the sistem delay of inutilisation, the screen goes off.
CM7 RCO 2.3.4
Shortcut from launcher
Disabled Delay ( CM7 has the TV intro/Outro i used out of the box)
The screen goes off. It works. Great App.
I posted in the Market comment section of your app that on 2.2/2.1 versions it does not work properly.( i used official and Custom ROM. I used to have Pays 2.2 Froyo. before CM7). The screen goes off and than on locked. Didn't bother me that much as it is very stable-always worked. I initially thought i have to pay for screen off from first press.
Nevertheless great app. Hope you solve the problems ^. And thank you for talking to us here on XDA.

Hello!
I have a Defy, and I think there's a problem with the Froyo, not the app.. I will leave you to decide.
1. 2.2.2 - froyo official release
2. tried it in all the ways, the same result.
3. Delay device locking option enabled.
4. Old TV Style (did'nt try the rest - this is the reason why I installed it in the first place )
5. Animation, then screen off, and then on again, with the lock screen (this is the problem).
Now, the error is the same with similar apps like yours (I tried 2 more widgets: Lock Screen Widget and Screen Lock Widget). They all have the same result: screen off, than back on with a swype screen locker (yours is a little bit cooler, it also has the nice animation).
Anyway, this is the behaviour on all of them, regardless the screen lock way (none, pattern, pin or password).
Teoretically, all the apps should do the same thing as the power button does, and they do it half way (the display goes off, but then back on with the swype screen unlocker)
In the none selection, the power button is the only one that acts correctly, it just powers off the screen. In the case of the apps, I have the swype unlock.
In the other selections (pattern, pin or password), also after the power button (after I press it again to unlock), the swype thing appears, and then the correct unlocker.
So, I'm not an expert, but I think there could be some kind of 2 levels locker in the froyo, which have a bug. Cause the swype unlocker teoretically should not be present nowhere in these scenarios (there is no option to activate/deactivate it, but it is present - this swype unlock was not present in android 2.1 -eclair).
Good luck with the app! (I will definately use it after I solve somehow this problem with the screen locker).
Best Ragards,
Alex
I have the exact same experience with my Defy. It has Froyo Nordic including motoblur
I tried all apps for this, and they all have the same behavior.
Only one works: "Screen off FX". But I suspect that it works in a different manner because it does not need to be device administrator. Maybe it will use more battery that way. Anyway I do not like it because it takes 20 secs before the screen is finally off.
Do you think it could be a problem with motoblur? Do you other guys have motoblur on your Defy?
1. The ROM you are using
-official froyo update (by motorola)
2. Method of using the app
-long press the search button
3. Delay device locking option is enabled or disabled
-enabled
4. Kind of screen off animation
-old tv off
5. Problem description
-screen goes off and then on again as locked
post in wrong forum and so deleted.

Anyone experiencing this?

Just wanting to see if anyone is experiencing...
1. If you go to the dialer (from the home screen) - my previously called contacts do not populate. Meaning when I go to use the "smart dial" (# pad to find contacts) nothing comes up. This is how I usually call people.. so its quite annoying.
Side note - I can get them to show up, if I tap a single number then hit the back button (not the back capacitive touch button) - the one thats in the dialer.
2.When using the power bar widget (the one that comes with it) every time I click to turn on the GPS I am prompted with a message telling me:
"Be selecting Standalone GPS services, you are enabling access.."
I was certainly not prompted every time with my original incredible. Furthermore, this prompt seems to disrupt the power widget causing the bar underneath to not light up (signifying its on), even though it is.
I have since switched to Power control Plus which fixed the bar not lighting up issue - but am still prompted every-time.
Are you using LauncherPro? I was experiencing the same issue when using the LauncherPro default Phone dock shortcut with the previous call history not showing. I just "re-routed" the phone shortcut to the phone app and all is well.
Hope that helps.

Any fix for this? Is it present in custom ROMs?

[Q] [APP] Problem with widgetlocker and noled

Hi...this is my first post, except the presentation...
I have a problem with these two apps on my brand new galaxy s2.
The problem is: if I am using the phone and something arrives, the screen turns black and appears the notification of noled.
Foe example: I'm chatting with google talk, a message arrives and then the screen turns black with notification of noled...
It's a bit annoying
Are there any settings to change to solve this problem?!?
Thanks...
Anyone?
I have the same problem with NoLed, been trying all kinds of solutions but yet to get it to work.
If my screen is turned off and I get a message I can't wake the phone with the power button cause that causes black screen.
Have to use homescreen button, annoying.
in widget locker go to settings>advanced and disable "retain system keyguard". should help.

Home button continues pressing?

I've had this issue before on my LG Power (Straight Talk branded LG Leon), running on Lollipop 5.0. No matter what I look for I can't find anyone who's experienced similar issues.
It just happened last night on my 5-day old Nexus. I could not open any of my folders to access apps. As soon as a touched a folder, it briefly showed the animation to open it, and it immediately closed. Whenever I selected a widget or the app drawer, they would immediately close as well. When I attempted to swipe down the notification/quick settings shade, they immediately closed themselves. Turning off the screen resulted in the screen immediately turning back on, albeit locked. I was even having trouble turning the device off because the 'Power Off' menu would disappear right after it popped up. Eventually I was able to time it right and was able to power off. Since I restarted I have not have any issues.
Any idea what gives? I'm unrooted, locked bootloader, everything 100% stock, running MM 6.0.1.
the only explanations i can come up with are:
-accidental touching the area in some way (unlikely)
-getting some substance stuck on the screen in that area (unlikely)
-a faulty touch panel (unlikely and very specific defect)
-a hickup in the software (again unlikely)
then again, if the OS (for whatever reason) thinks the home button is pressed, on default it should not only pull you back to the homescreen, but continue and send you right through to google. the conclusion of which would be, that this UI area is triggered repeatedly rather than continuously.
keep an eye out for what could have triggered it in case it occurs again.
check your settings what build exactly you are running (settings -> about phone -> build number).
ans lastly, if it happens again, you should still be able to hold your power button to hard-reboot it (no further interaction with the UI required).

Try to clean your screen also with a towel
That is extremely weird. It really sounds like a faulty digitizer, but you'd be the first... Maybe it's a rogue app, but unlikely.
Were you doing something before this starts to happen?
I haven't noticed any consistent apps or behaviors when this would occur. This most recent time, I was low on battery (10%) and I had just flipped on my data.
fyi. you could also just press and hold the power button, for 10 secs, for a reboot ( might come in handy when the screen isn't working properly).

appreciate the tip! I'll keep this in mind if it happens again.
Finally was able to capture a video. The issue occurred after I was playing around with Open Camera and it crashed. Holding down the power button didn't work when this glitch is happening.

What's the icon on the lock screen, top right in the status bar? That behavior is unusual if it's not a screen defect. Are you using any apps that monitor battery, a task killer, or maybe a security monitor app?

The icon is a picture for my user profile on the phone.
I don't use anything like that. I had Clean Master installed briefly but it's been uninstalled for a couple of days now.
so it seems like this issue pops up whenever the camera crashes. happens occasionally when using the camera shortcut (double power tap) or in an app that uses the camera.
It's got to be software IMO. It didn't happen when you went to Google Now and your Recent Apps. I'd try uninstalling the Open Camera app first. Do you have Face Unlock active by chance? After that I'd FDR...

right, that's what's confusing me. i did a factory reset last week, set up the phone as a new device. haven't installed a new camera app, just the stock google camera. the issue occurred again last night when using an app called Shopkick, which accesses the camera but crashed.
