I had flashed STOCK ROM on my HTC wildfire s a510e but my mobile gets stucked on HTC logo screen. I have tried installing ROM many times by wiping data, wiping factory data, wiping delvik cache but still gets problem.I tried to flash superwipe but gets error as Installation abandoned.
So I downloaded Indian RUU for my mobile and followed guide of another forum on how to install it. but when I run that, phone boots but gets 171 error and I am being asked to connect usb properly where as I have connected it properly.
Please help fried. What should I do now?

hey bro , open that ruu , and when it comes to welcome screen. dont proceed with installation, when it comes to welcome screen it extracts the files in temporary folder this is where you will find the STOCK ROM , go to temporary folder by following these instructions
1-Go to start menu
2-Open Run
3-Write
Code:
%TEMP%
4-Hit enter
Now in that folder search for ROM.zip (use the search option , you may get ROM1.zip and ROM2.zip , In that case select ROM1.zip)
When you will get this zip file , extract it to a folder in desktop , name the folder ROM
Now if you have android-sdk with the adb drivers then skip this text in blue and copy the adb adbwinapi and fastboot files to ROM folder on desktop, if you dont know what i am talking about then read the text in blue,
Download this http://www.mediafire.com/?81ao1oct0g533uj n then extract it in ROM folder , so in rom folder you will have three new files, adb adbwinapi and fastboot..
now open Command prompt by these steps
1-Open start menu
2-Open run
3-Type
Code:
CMD
hit enter
Now in this cmd write each code and press enter
Code:
cd desktop
Code:
cd ROM
now put your cell phone in bootloader mode , then go to fastboot option ,
then go to ROM folder , and check if you have these files
BOOT.img
System.img(it can be system-yaffs.img or something similar , rename it to system.img)
Now affter going to fastboot menu in mobile connect it with pc .
Now write these commands , press enter after each commmand and wait till it flashes
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Code:
fastboot flash system system.img
after this , reboot to recovery (CWM recovery) and wipe your data then power it on :good: it will be working then

Hi All
Is there anyone willing to help me recover my phone (presently stuck on logo screen). I've looked at various solutions posted on different forums but I just get confused.
So what I would like is idiots guide on how to do it, including how to write the commands codes so I can flash the updated CWM rom. Tried to work it out but everything I've tried keeps failing and I desperate to get my phone working again.
Please please help
Tell us what you have done so far m8 and the reason for it being stuck. At a guess did you flash the boot.img when installing a Rom?
To install or update recovery, go here and follow the instructions on the second part "Installing A Recovery" Just follow the steps its pretty easy.

Flash the appropriate boot.IMG for your rom
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
hmmm
Thats what i've trying to do but I can't seem to work out what cmd codes I need to get it to work. All I get is:
'Downloads\OneXRoot' is not recognized as an internal or external command
operable program or batch file.
This error message on everything I try to do incuding flashboot, flashboot recovery etc
Tried micks solution and all it did was open Nero gggrrrrrr
And yes I did flash a boot image but i'm trying to get the updated one onto my phone but because my battery won't charge it proving to be a nightmare
From the link I posted do as the guide says re making a folder called fastboot on C: and then download the files and extract them to fastboot. Replace the end of the guide with instructions for flashing a boot image. The boot.img is usually in the zip of the rom. So you need to extract the boot.img and place it in your C:\fastboot folder
It should go something like this. Use C:\ not Downloads\OneXRoot
1. Download These Fastboot Files
2. Make a new folder on your C: drive called fastboot.
3. Extract The Zip downloaded in step 1 to the new folder
4. The Official Version of CWM has been released and is now capable of flashing all roms, you can grab it HERE
5. download the custom recovery and save it in the same folder as you did the fastboot files
6. Power Phone Off by Holding power button for 10 secs
7. select Fastboot with volume + or - then press power
8. plug your phone into your PC and open a Command Prompt.
(windows XP - Click Start > Run > type CMD in box then press OK
(Windows 7 - Click Start > type CMD in search box then press Enter)
9. cd to your fastboot files folder cd c:\fastboot
10. Then enter fastboot flash boot boot.img and hit enter
11. fastboot erase cache is recommended if you have booting issues
reboot
ignore steps 4 and 5, copy and paste from above link
Going to buy a new phone
Followed your instruction to the letter but it failed to work. I think the problem is with my computer not recognising fastboot and the solution also failed. So I think i'm just going to buy a new phone and thanks for all your help
No need to buy a new phone, stick with it, you'll get there
Maybe give this a try. It does everything for you

Nice
Thanks thats a solution that will work once I find away to charge my battery. You have been a legend.
Cant you just put it in to recovery or leave it on the hboot screen, then plug in to a wall charger?
In Q&A, find the topic "flashing boot.img hoooooooow????" Or something, and at second side, u have my guide to flash boot.img files. Hope it works.

A buddy of mine rooted my phone after I had so much difficulty trying to do it myself. I went to update my ROM this afternoon and was brought to the white HTC loading screen with no more activity. Tried getting into my phone to put a new ROM on the SD card and nothing comes up on the SD card folder. I am able to put a ROM in the empty SD card folder and install it, but than it just gets stuck on the same screen as before. I'm really just in the dark here and that friend isn't any longer available to help me out. Thank you all in advance, hopefully this is fixable. I am quite concerned. I should add that I would like to ultimately just get back to stock and be done with things I don't understand so as to avoid this happening again.
Did you flash the boot.img from the rom.zip? These are the correct steps to flash a ROM:
1. Flash the boot.img from ROM.zip via fastboot. "fastboot flash boot boot.img" then "fastboot erase cache"
2. Boot into recovery and use THIS by flashing it.
3. Now flash the ROM.zip and then gapps.zip via recovery.
4. Reboot.

I have tried flashing the boot.img but when I go to put the file onto my phone I don't have any folders such as the boot.img folder to put it in. As for flashing the link above, I am taking a stab in the dark here but I assume that I download that link, extract it and place it on my SD card somewhere. I'm not sure as to how I flash it. Sorry... I really have tried learning the ropes of this, but I can't seem to grasp it.
I somehow now have access to TWRP on my device... I am so confused.

1. First you need to download a custom ROM like this one : http://tunsd.de/downloads/ICJ/IceColdJelly421/aokp_ICJ422-V3.0.zip , Gapps : http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip and Super wipe script: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0y31poo1kiaif4y/Super wipe script.zip
2. Open the aokp_ICJ422-V3.0.zip with winrar/winzip and extract the boot.img and place it in the "fastboot" folder in your PC. (since you have already unlocked/rooted it, I guess you know which is the fastboot folder)
3. Connect your Phone to your PC and make a new folder named "ROM" and put the aokp_ICJ422-V3.0.zip , gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip and Super wipe script.zipin it.
4. Turn of your phone. Now hold the power button and volume down button together until the bootloader screen pops up. (White screen with 3 android figures at the bottom)
5. Now select "fastboot" using the volume up/down keys and press power button once you highlight it to get into fastboot. Now connect your phone again to your PC.
6. You will hear a sound on your pc and on the screen it will say "fastboot USB".
7. Now open fastboot folder on your PC and press shift key and simultaneously rightclick and click on "open command prompt here".
8. type the following lines:
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot erase cache
9. Now disconnect your phone and head back to "HBOOT" and then select "Recovery".
10. Now go to "install zip from sd" and select "ROM" folder which you had created earlier on the phone.
11. Now select "super wipe script" and install it. After everything is done you will come back to choose zip from sd.
12. Now again navigate to ROM folder and select "aokp_ICJ422-V3.0.zip" and install it. and then install "gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip".
13. Now go back and select "reboot system now".
14. If you have done all the above steps correctly, you will boot into IceColdJelly Rom!

Irrespective whether you have CWM or TWRP... Steps will be similar for flashing the ROM... Just the names of the buttons/options will be different!
If you want to use CWM, then download this : http://htcfanboys.com/download/seadersn/?action=list&file=2823
Put the recovery.img in your fastboot folder. Boot your phone in fastboot mode and fire the following lines in CMD.
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
Now you can follow the steps which I have given blindly!
My phone was unlocked and rooted from a different PC so I have no fastboot folders or any knowledge on what a fastboot folder is.

Download HTC Sync Manager: (this is required so that correct drivers are installed on your PC)

After download is complete, install it and restart your pc.
Download Fastboot Folder:

Extract it somewhere on your pc.
Now look at my previous post and follow the steps...
Everything went swell until step 10. Every time I tried to install anything it came up as failed. I repeated the steps several times with the same results. I really appreciate your efforts in trying to help me.

Hi guys,
I am stuck REALLY stuck. I have or now had a rooted htc one x. I tried to flash a rom but this kept on stucking on the logo (carbon logo, cause it was a Carbon rom). When I saw this I got confused so I deleted everything from recovery mode. EVERYTHING the rom and what was on the sd card. Now when i try to turn oi on it is stuck on the htc logo (the first one that appears). I presume its doing so cause it is finding no rom to load. My other problem is the power. The battery got drained and I cannot even see my SD card on the pc ! I found somewhere that in recovery mode i could go to advanced and to side load but i cannot even see this side load option. PLEASSSSE help me I am really desperate!!
When you're in recovery, connect to your PC and mount your sdcard, in twrp it's advanced/mount. The card should then show up on your PC, put the rom zip on your card and let the phone charge for a while. Use fastboot to erase cache then flash the rom.

Extract the boot.img file from the rom, place it in the same location as your adb set up. Reboot to fastboot mode, connect to PC, open cmd window at same location as abd and type:
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Reboot.

cache erase but getting cannot open boot.img!!!!!!!!!
Don't open it. Just extract it to your adb folder, and flash it via fastboot. If it's not called boot.img then either use fastboot flash boot (bootname).img or rename it to boot.img. Plus if you've erased the system you'll need to flash the rom again via recovery.

i am typing "C:\android\sdk\platform-tools\fastboot flash boot boot.img" is it good? cause its replying cannot open boot.img and the file i extracted is called boot.img. I cant understand were i am wrong. Perhaps cause the battery is still very low?
The extracted boot.img should be in the sdk folder, for example mine is C:\Users\Sinclair\Downloads\adb_fastboot_and_other_tools\adb_fastboot_and_other_tools\Android. Open the folder, shift+right click and choose 'open command window here'. Try 'fastboot devices' to ensure it's been detected, if so it should work. Possibly a bad download.

You put literally the boot.img file in that state in the Fastboot.exe folder on the pc. So it goes into the platform tools folder !
Then you put the phone in the bootloader where you see "Fastboot usb" in red text
Then you point with the mouse inside the platform tools folder and hold down shift and click the right button and select "open command window here"
Then you type the command in that window
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
By your reply I'm presuming you don't have a full adb/fastboot setup. Read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42407269,
and follow the instructions.

Hi there
Thanks for your interest in helping me out. After i do this right click thing i go to the black window and give these commands as they are no previous path like c:\ etc etc before the commands you gave me? Cause the funny thing i did the erase cache thing and it did it but this boot boot.img isnt doing it. And bdw i redownloaded another rom, copied it to the file tools and extracted it there. In it there was a boot.img file. Did i do the right thing?
Thanks again
When you open the cmd window by right click in a folder then all commands you enter are for that folder path, so it's fastboot flash boot xxx.img(replace xxx with the boot name), and it's only the boot.img for your rom you need extracted to the folder.
I think you are confusing yourself. Just stay calm and read carefully ! It's not rocket science. Open the rom.zip with 7Zip and just drag out the boot.img file to the exact same folder as where your fastboot.exe file is located. Open the command window there and type the commands.
The command fail cannot open is only because the file is just not there !

Just place the downloaded firmware (UL-xxx.zip) into root folder on your internal storage or external sdcard. The system will automatically recognize it and asking do you want to flash it.
Just make sure you had the correct regional firmware (mine was WW)

Rename your downloaded firmware to K012_sdupdate.zip then copy to your MICROSD. Now you just have to go into droidboot mode.
Follow the step below to go into droidboot. (Start by turn off your device).
1. If you had never update to kitkat before, go into droidboot by holding VOL DOWN + POWER until droidboot menu is present.
2. If you have update to kitkat before (or currently on kitkat), boot into droidboot by holding VOL UP + POWER until menu is present.
Next step depend on menu that appear on your droidboot menu:
1. If you had SD UPDATE option presented on the MOST BELOW option, go on and select it. (Beware, you should choose SD UPDATE not SD DOWNLOAD)
2. If your menu doesnt show SD UPDATE, then you had to choose RECOVERY.
I think thats all to do, your device must have start the update process by now.
CMIIW
But there is no recovery mode in this device like cwm or twrp..............
have a look.....
in the video below i have started in recovery without puting the firmware archieve in sdcard....will it surely work...
and one thing more is there ant way to install cwm or twrp or any other recovery on this device......
Flash fonepad firmware
It's very easy. Just put the downloaded zip file in the root of you internal memory and you will see a notification which says it has detected a new update file. Tap on it and install.
Good luck

Then you need to use ADB tools and fastboot. Before anything you need to download the attached files which contains ADB tools and intel usb drivers. Download the files and extract it somewhere . Go to "intelandroiddrvsetup1.1.5.zip" and install the drivers. Then Power off your tablet. Hold down the Volume + and Power and rlease at the Asus logo comes up. Now you will see the fastboot menu.
Connect your tablet to your PC. Now go to the folder you extracted the zip file. Press the Shift key and Right click somewhere in the folder. Choose "open command window here".
Then type this commands one by one and press Enter:
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase userdata
Then you need you flash the a stock firmware. Download the appropriate firmware from Asus website. There are three .img files in the firmware zip file (fastboot.img, boot.img, splashscreen.img). Copy all these three files to the extracted folder. Now type the following command in the command window one by one:
fastboot flash fastboot fastboot.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash splashscreen splashscreen.img
The last step is that you should put the firmware zip file on your external SD card. Rename it to k012_sdupdate.zip
Now use the volume keys on you tablet to choose the Recovery (if you have updated to 4.4.2) or SD Update (if your android version was 4.3). Press the Power to choose it. The tablet will reboot and flash the firmware.

Now type the following command in the command window one by one:

where can i dl the three .img help!!!!!!!!!!
How to USE FASTBOOT commands in case your Device got Soft-Bricked with NO DISPLAY
Click to collapse
Let's describe Softbrik:-Anything caused to your phone except damage to Hardware of your phone which put your Device into a state where it is not booting up and kept showing White, Gray, Blue or Black Screen or Either It gets stuck at Company logo Screen. This may occur if something goes wrong during Rooting, flashing Recovery or ROMs or during Updating in Recovery Mode or either being caught by some wrong software or VIRUS !!!
Preface to the Guide:
Fastboot is a command line tool used to directly flash the filesystem in Android devices from a host computer via USB. It allows flashing of unsigned partition images and also can erase partitions. Its a part of Android Developement Kit (Android SDK).
Use of FASTBOOT is disabled in production devices since USB support has been disabled in the bootloader. You must have an Engineering SPL, or an SPL that is S-OFF or Unlocked bootloader to use 'fastboot'.
After installing the Android SDK or ADB Standalone you can use 'fastboot' in addition to the more common ADB.
One can use the attached .android folder if u want to skip downloading Android SDK. (Refer Attachment)
Verify SPL S-OFF or Bootloader Unlocked:
Not required for Micromax !! But certain Production Devices like Sony HTC LG etc may need bootloader to be unlocked before carrying out this process. My simple advice to people is.. "If you enjoy experiments on your device, you must be ROOTED and to ROOT you device you may need to have unlock bootloader"
Preparations:
(1) Download attached .android.zip, Extract and place .androidfolder on C:/ drive of your PC. So the path of this folder will look likeC:/.android
(Never remove this ".android" folder from C:/ coz you will require it whenever u want to experiment with you Droid using ADB or FASTBOOT methods. I assure... You can do a lot more with it; if you really explore how to use various commands !!!)
.android folder is containing adb.exe, fastboot.exe and related drivers adb_usb.ini, android_winusb.ini AdbWinApi.dll and AdbWinUsbApi.dll and other files; all together not more than 800KB
(2) Connect Device in 'USB debugging ON' mode.
Ensure Drivers for your Device are already installed on the host computer
Note: I recommend you should always keep USB Debugging opetion 'ON' as it only can help you, in case, your device get SoftBricked and you cant see anything on Device Screen. Remember that with USB debugging 'OFF' your Device can't communicate with your Host Computer.
(3) Host Computer Ability to Launch Command Prompt:
On Windows-XP or earlier, to start ADB (Android Debug Bridge) You need to locate your folder containing adb.exe where as Windows-7/Vista/Other-Latest-OS can directly launch command prompt from the Folder itself by Shift+Right Click on Mouse and Selecting "Open Command Prompt from here".
Hence 'Locating 'adb' folder-steps' are for XP users only, However higher OS users can skip it and can directly start giving 'adb' commands after opening cmd from .android folder.
(4) So now, Open Command Prompt (in Windows XP), it will return like this:
Code:
Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME>
(As our adb.exe is in C:/.android.... we will type: Cd C:\.android)
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME>Cd C:\.android (Hit Enter)
C:\.android>
Let's give command to detect attached device by writing: 'adb device'. On hitting enter it will list all devices attached to your PC.
Code:
C:\.android>adb devices
List of devices attached
XXXXXXXX-XXXX device
Now u can do a lot while your Device is attached in 'adb mode' e.g.:
Code:
1. Rebooting into Bootloader (FASTBOOT)
2. Installing apps on as /system/app or /data/app
3. Copying Files to/from your SDCARD
4. Pulling Files or Apps already installed on your /system or /data partition
To Understand adb commands and how they work please read:
http://developer.android.com/tools/help/adb.html#commandsummary
Let's come back to ISSUE: "We have a SOFTBRICKED devices !!!"
(1) Booting into FASTBOOT mode:
Let's come back to'fastboot' as we need to flash new ROM or to apply update.zip in a Softbricked deviceNote: Let your device remain connected to PC and don't disconnect untill You finish you job-successfully and get your Device again in working Factory Condition.
""fastboot reboot-bootloader" This command is used to reboot your device into bootloader i.e into fastboot mode) and In this Mode your device will stuck into boot logo only and u cant operate it. ;D Well we are not concerned as we already have a bricked device with no screen display !!!. Lets go ahead...on cmd follow:
Code:
C:\.android>adb reboot-bootloader
C:\.android>fastboot devices
XXXXXXXXXXXX fastboot
(2) Unlocking-ReLocking Bootloader:
(Skip if u working with pre-unlocked devices)
C:\.android>fastboot oem unlock
...
SUCCESSFUL
finished. total time: 118.063s
Click to collapse
(Accept/Decline warning on your devices screen. Select YES to Unlock)
(Once ROM is flashed) To relock Bootloader use command: fastboot oem lock:
Code:
C:\.android>fastboot oem unlock
...
SUCCESSFULL
finished. total time: 118.063s
(Accept/Decline warning on your devices screen. Select YES to ReLock)]
(Skip if u working with pre-unlocked devices)
(3)Get 'Recovery.img' and 'Update.zip' for your Device:
Lets Wipe the Data and then proceed to Flash new ROM/Update.zip
IMPORTANT: Copy the stock recovery.img and your devices' Update.zip[ in .android folder(You can get it even by searching it in this forum or by Googling for it..) So I assume that you have it....in your .android
Abbreviations:
recovery.img = Stock Recovery of your Device
Update.zip = Update Package/Stock ROM of your Device
Let's start wiping and updating process with following commands:
(4)Wiping Old Data and Flashing new Update.zip:
Code:
C:\.android>fastboot -w
SUCCESSFUL
C:\.android>fastboot update Update.zip
(Here Replace Update with Full Name of your any Update.zip that you copied to .android folder)
Your phone will update and automatically reboot into the Factory State. Cheers !!!
Note: Its important to spell the file name correctly that u want to flash/update. No space between name are allowed. This process will only be successful if your device is still carrying recovery partition 'intact'.
.....If above wiping/updating FAILS....
If you still in "No Display State", extract update.zip to .android folder (U can use 7zip).
You will find following main .img files, each incorporate specific partition on any android device. In our case we can extract following:
boot.img -The main kernel and initrd
recovery.img -A 'backup' kernel, initrd, and OS 4 sysm recovery/maintanance
sytem.img -The main OS
userdata.img -User data and settings
splash.img -Has Boot image. can be splash1 as well.
cache.img -Temp storage
...there can be similar partition names depends on your device type.... but basically these 6 partitions constitute a ROM. Copy all of (6) files to .android folder. (Henceforth, we can use this recovery.img as stock recovery for your device.)
"As your device is bricked/corrupted, we need to erase all old Partitions and flash (rewrite) new partitions that we have extracted from Update zip and placed in .android."
(1) Lets erase all partitions first (one by one)using: fastboot erase <partition>
Code:
C:\.android>fastboot erase system
Successful
C:\.android>fastboot erase recovery
Successful
C:\.android>fastboot erase boot
Successful
C:\.android>fastboot erase userdata
Successful
C:\.android>fastboot erase splash
Successful
C:\.android>fastboot erase cache
Successful
(2) Continuing with Flashing new partionsusing the Images copied in .android:
Command: fastboot flash <partition> <partition_name.img>
Code:
C:\.android>fastboot flash boot boot.img
Successful
C:\.android>fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Successful
C:\.android>fastboot flash system system.img :(here people gen. get stuck
Successful
C:\.android>fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
Successful
C:\.android>fastboot flash splash splash.img
Successful
C:\.android>fastboot reboot
If all successful, Your phone will update and automatically reboot into the Factory State. Cheers !!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
..If you are Unable to flash 'system.img' successfully...
Reason: Your device is not allowing to format and rewrite 'system' partition manually. If your device is Rooted then probably such failure will never occur.
Let's overcome this Issue as well...Try Following...
First, Understand current State of Device...
We Wiped out old partitions and Flashed new partitions except :-\ system :-\ So No System on your Device at present.
What we will do now..
We will now wipe all partitions again
We will then flash only recovery.img saved in .android folder
We will use update.zip saved in .android folder to Flash it using SD Card.
We will copy update.zip on SD Card (using adb). If you can do it manually using a card reader skip step-II in below process.
Step-I: Wiping 'partitions' and Flashing 'recovery.img':Let's wipe all partitions again:
Code:
C:\.android>fastboot -w
C:\.android>fastboot reboot-bootloader
C:\.android>fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
C:\.android>reboot
Step-II: Copy update.zip on SDCARD
Code:
C:\.android>adb push update.zip /data/sdcard
Step-III: As you can't manage to see what is happening on screen(No Display) hence Don't do mistakes here, read carefully and follow exactly:
1.Reboot Device into Recovery Mode:
On cmd type:
Code:
C:\.android>adb reboot recovery
2.Now Press 'Volume(-)' button ONCE. (Once means 'once only'-if you did mistake here repeat the Step-III)
3.Press 'Power' Button TWICEand Leave you Device for some 10 Minutes time.
If phone don't get alive in 10 Minutes Repeat Step-III again.
You may not able to see but Your phone will update and automatically reboot into the Factory State. Cheers !!!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Explaining Last Step:
We used simple logic in last procedure/ Its nothing but updating using Recovery Mode. Always remember Custom Recovery of Micromax A56/57 has following options: (May be diferent for other devics)
As the default curser in recovery UI remains on Option-1 and we needed to choose Option-2.
Hence to select "Apply update for sdcard" we pressed 'Vol(-)'ONCE and then to Confirm and execute that option Tapped 'POWER' button TWICE.
Hope this Guide helped you or ...will Help you to help others !!!

What if the device is recongised in adb as : (device name) recovery, but can't actually boot into recovery (twrp) and thus when entering the command : adb reboot fastboot it can never actually boot into fastboot ?
Are there any adb commands that can do the trick or is it game over ?
