impossible. stock is just generally better in battery usage than cm7 or others

If you want stock-based custom roms, check Enhanced236 or Adrenaline rom, and if you want CM7 custom rom go for CyanogenMod-7-20120920-NIGHTLY-gio.
That's it. But stock-based roms have better battery life, if you're looking for it.

CM roms are not battery friend . You should use stock based roms . Ex: Adrenaline . I use SimpliGio

i tried adrenaine and it was ok but the best battery life i got using enhanced236 and the interactive governor(245 min and 800 max)
hope it helps

Sorry to but in, I'm just a noob but in SGS II-v10 and Enhanced 2.3.6 the baterry life seames to be the best I've seen and if you are a noobye to remember the trouble with little phones is not only that they have small displays but the fact that the battery is eaven smaller....so if you are a noob when you hear that battery life is god it actually means 2days max with data, gps and sync turned of (trust me, I purchesed a new battery and that is the best you'll get, sorry)

My battery can hold up to 2 days when I play games.
If I don't play games - about 4 days.
If I'm barely using my phone, then:

Aha, yes I see...I must admit I use the phone for Facebook alot so every now and then I turn data anbd sync back on, you really made me curious, I'll have to resist browsing the net and I berrer start replayng angry birds space I know this is offf topic but you really made me curious :laugh::laugh:
I'm glad to hear that.
BTW I actually don't have wireless at my home, and mobile networks are very expensive, so I don't use Internet very much. Only when I go somewhere.
Also I maybe take about 2 calls a day and maybe 5 messages, little listening to music and play games.
But, when I'm in school somebody always takes my phone to play games and my battery drains faster.
I must stop giving them my phone.

Well I had cm9 RC1 by Maclow a while back but it drained the battery preti fast 1 day max! I love cm9 and cm10 but lets face it: they are made for more capable phones...I know that you love the feel of android 4.0.4 and 4.1.1 case I love it to, but if you want a frendly advice stich to stock or if it's costumization you seek then cm7-any port opf it wil do and you got ledwaba so stich with what is based in gingerbread = more stable + les bugs!
sorry.. I have a noob question.. How i want change cm7.2 marcin adwlauncher to launcher2? How to do on cwm? I usdd cm7.2.. So far.. Its really good.. Save more battery than other rom.. But why i cant bluetooth?

I'm not sure if you can just say best battery life is XXX as everyone's usage patterns are different and different aspects drain the battery faster than others. I have found Dewizzed to give me the best life out of all of the ones I've tried, but I don't get near the time that many post in that thread. The one difference is that when they post their usage stats I never see "Voice Calls" in the top half of the apps using battery, whereas if I look at mine right now Voice calls is #1 at 53% and Display is #2 at 18%. I use my phone heavily as a phone during the workweek, others use it as a media device, others gaming...you get the idea.
Try Dewizzed and try a couple of others. It's easy to flash and then restore or go back to one that works better for you (plus the geek in me thinkgs that is fun too).

WOW! thats pretty impressive. what's your time on display?
I was wondering the same thing. But more along the lines of which rom kernel combo people are running. Now to hijack original posters thread, but if people could also put what kernel they are running too. The best I ever got was BeastMod with Synergy, but once he left the building I don't feel like any of the other ones have been as good.

That tells us little, click on display and show us how much time the display has actually been on
From my experience, it is not necessarily the rom that effects the battery life as much as the kernel does. Every rom I have installed I end up changing the kernel to synergy 10 and see a big increase in battery life.

Display time on and brightness? From the graph it doesn't seem like you used the phone for too much and we don't know how bright your screen was, time on voice calls and any other applications. Why is it that people don't know how to post battery life correctly? Your wifi was on most of the time and wifi uses less battery than data connectivity plus we don't know the type of reception you were receiving. Edge consumes less battery than 3G. These are all factors that need to be taken into consideration to draw a clear conclusion on your battery life.

No, don't wipe data, because it's the same ROM, so you'll keep all your settings and apps.
Just wipe Cache and Dalvik cache, before and after flashing.

Lastly can u plz tell me what's the main difference between cm7.1 and cm7.2??
What are the additional features??

You're welcome.
I don't know exactly, but mostly bug fixes, some tweaks and UI improvements (ICS rotation animation, notification bar colors, etc). And some new devices will get official support (like Defy+).
It's a gradual progress anyway, you won't be surprised.
Good luck.
Trimis de pe Defy CM9
Switched to cm7.2
Its nice and stable
Also I think sleep mode eats up comparitively less battery...
Bt still not quite the same backup...
I think my battery became old..or I need a better caliberation technique..

For me CM7 was way better than Froyo, when talking about the battery life. But both have lower battery life when compared to CM9 (in my case, at least) .
I don't know what to say about your issue. Is the difference that big? Did you try to undervolt? Deep sleep is okay?
Trimis de pe Defy CM9
Yes sir..tried undervolting...nothing changed
Deep sleep is fine now,I guess...but when m using the phone..battery discharges pretty quick..also as soon as I unplug the changer, the percentage goes from 100% to 99% within a second...

That sudden drop from 100% to 99% happens to me and others too, it's normal, don't worry.
I'm no expert in interpreting battery graphs and data, but from the screenshots posted by you I remarked that the screen was on almost all the time (97%), the CPU was awake almost all the time (98%), the battery got pretty hot (43 degrees). You used your phone quite a bit, and I think that the battery drain is normal for that type of usage.
I saw that you have some sort of monitoring tool in the notification bar (the one with the 38 and a graph - I assume temperature and CPU usage) - this might use some extra battery juice too.
But, to conclude, for heavy usage those seem to me like normal values, and I get those standby times too. If the phone gets you through the day you don't need to worry .
Thanx mate..
I was just worried as the usage was same on stock rom,the backup was comparitively much more..
As for temperature, m from india, that type of temp is normal around here...
[email protected]
I'm on CM7.2 and the drop from 100% to 99% within a second is pretty normal. Have investigate this behavior with Froyo, too.

Why don't you make a list of each rom you want to try, then take the time to flash each one and run each for about a week. Since battery life and performance is directly related to each users set up and personal style of use. This way in about 4 or 5 weeks you can actually make a determination on your own as to what is best for you.

In the middle of the graph, it goes from red all the way up to ~85%. The green bar below the graph also shows how long it's been charging which is DEFINITELY not 30 seconds.
best battery life is very subjective to the user. and remember that the display on this phone is power hungry to say the least. i hope that very soon all phones will come out with non removable batteries. people that need extra power can carry a portable power pack instead of an extra battery. and for those who complain about the longevity of the battery have obviously never used a phone with built in battery or done their research and are simply relying on that crutch of being able to swap the battery just because they can.
WOW...anyway....my point when i started this was that no one can tell you what works best for you...you have to figure that out on your own.

You can clearly see the green charging bar in the middle, not to mention the fact that battery graphs don't go up by themselves.

I then tried Slim ROM with the same kernel and the battery life was ok...I'm now using the Samurai Kernel and I'm liking it!

is in fact what I would do with this thread is to gather a bit 'of screen and then publish them on the start page so as to assist new users in selecting the ROM according to their needs, then of course every result will be based on usage of 'but if you can get many statistics can make an average of everyone!
Hi all,
As we all know, battery life for the One X sucks big time.
I need to know which ROM of the ones posted in the development section is better when it comes to battery life.
My current state is consuming 50% of it in the first two hours and this is horrible for me.
Appreciate your assistance!
Try Viper ROM, but I'm using RD MIUI now, I'm tired of Sense. Btw I have only 2G, but with 3G, the battery works fine.
EDIT: I don't recommend CM9 or AOKP, on these, multi-touch doesn't work correct, I games u have onetouch instead of multi-touch.

There is no work going on in Leedroid ROM since may as Leedroid is having some personal issues so he is been away from xda.
It was a good ROM.
You should either go for ARHD ROM or ViperX ROM{ if u love customizations } and jan - the main developer of ViperX ROM was also the creator of Leedroid tweaks

I'm using RD-MIUI 2.8.10 CM9 version with ncx kernel. On my third battery cycle I got roughyl 2 days 8 hours on battery and about 3.5 hours of screen time.
Try ARHD. It keeps sense 4.1 while having excellent battery life and nice performance and eye candy.
Hi everyone, for a long time i see ppl claiming their phone last longer due to a custom kernel.
Normally i read they saying "i could never make my phone lasting with 2hs screen on or lasting for 2 days".
Anyway, its obviously that this will depend 100% what ppl do with their phone accordingly to apps, widgets, syncing, etc.
For me, normally i have around 3 and a half hour screen on and around 1 day and a half to 2 days.
I do use WiFi and 3G alot... browsing, gaming, texting, etc.
My point is that i belive ppl have a placebo effect. Custom kernel will give you faster response, OC ability and other advantages.
What do you guys say?
Attached are some screenshot from my 100% stock phone.

I just believe some of the little tweaks devs do to a custom kernel do make a difference.
I bag 4h30m on my gnex regularly.
Yea I totally agree that stock performs just as well in the battery life department. All I care about is having root.

Your battery life won't really get better than that. I really agree that there's often a placebo effect in switching roms/kernels, i only use a different kernel for color settings volume boost via Francos app. Stick with stock though I'd say, but of course it's always nice to try out kernels, despite the placebo effect.
Speaking of which though, I'm performing a real life test seeing which governors on my kernel work best for battery life. I simply switch then lol at my screen on time and see if it's improved, I'm assuming hotplugx will win, so we'll see. Interactive is still a great balanced on though.

It made a difference for me personally, because I wasn't getting very good battery life at all with the stock kernel. The other tweaks were also a pretty good bonus.
You're getting pretty great battery life as is though, I wouldn't worry too much about changing to a custom kernel if you're consistently getting numbers like those.
Thanks everybody for the feedback. I guess we are all at the same page.
Cheers

Battery life or not but performance of the phone definitely improves with custom kernels... Asphalt 7 use to lag a bit on stock JRO03C but after trying Franco kernel Milestone 6 no lag or reboots whatsoever..
In fact I have a placebo that custom kernels reduce battery life
Worth it for the small performance improvements alone but I do get a little better battery life.
Even a few percent better is better than nothing when you sit in a building with poor reception and your battery takes a hit from your phone having a low signal

Somehow i think the same! All my attemps with custom kernels drove me to less juice... but a hell of fastness..

Personally, I run trinity...
Mostly for it's colors but I did seem to go from 1 day to 2 days without charging after the switch (placebo...?)
My battery suddenly dropped from 15% to 0% on Milestone 6... Now I'm back on stock custom kernels are like 3rd party engine mods on a car..
I say Franco...

What mods have you done to your phone? I am running aokp build 4 with Franco kernel milestone 6 and I'm starting to see some good numbers too.

3+ hours screen on time, 12+ hours standby. I didn't think it was possible, my battery bad been draining pretty quickly. I think the key this time was that I was on WiFi all day.

no sync because i don't have the data to go syncing the whole day, auto brightness, 3g outside, wifi at home. Web browsing only, i don't play games on my phone, it's reserved for my computer.
Stock kernel, stock ROM. Turn off auto sync unless you are connected to a wifi hotspot. This will give you 3 hours screen on time and 12+ hours uptime. I have 3 email accounts set up, but they do not sync automatically. I manually check my email in the am, at lunch, and evening.
Stock kernel, unless you can't help but obsess about making your phone "fast". If you want fast, go into Development Options within Settings and turn off all animations, then install a launcher like Nova and turn animations to "faster than light".
I used to flash all kinds of mods on my phone and I realized that was ALL I did with my phone, tinker and troubleshoot it. I will only unlock and root my phone if we stop getting the latest OS updates. In the meantime, nothing is so wrong with the stock kernel and rom that should make you install Bob's OS. But you know, that's the beauty of Android. You can decide what you do with your phone. Hope my point of view makes you reconsider flashing any custom software.
