SDXC Sizes - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Given that the SDXC spec and the exFAT and/or FAT32 filesystems both support devices in excess of 64GB, I believe our phones can support beyond a mere 64GB µSDXC card. I haven't seen any for sale, but there are some 128GB SDXC full size cards I've seen. Who else thinks once we see larger sizes in µSDXC that we'll be able to use them in the S3?

You can buy a sd to microsd adaptors for like $4 and try it..

32Gb SD card formatted as 16Gb

I messed up my 32Gb SD card and decided to reformat it (Settings/Storage/Format SD card). But it is now shown as 16Gb. Is there any way to format it as 32GB?
You sure it's not a fake? Did you buy it from e-bay?
Many sellers on e-bay advertise their cards as cheap 32GB-cards, when they in reality are selling lower capacity cards and faked the size.

I bought it from an online shop not ebay but it seems to be fake. Damn. It shown as 16Gb now in Gparted and in the phone.
Is there a certain way to check if the card fake or not. I've just googled the vendor and there are reviews confirming that the cards from this website are NOT fake. So before going back to the vendor I'd like to know for sure that the card supplied is a fake 32Gb.
someone can suggest a good 32gb sd card? what about class rate and speed? thanks
If it's fake, wouldn't it be more likely to be 8GB or lower? Format it in Windows (or whatever your favorite OS is) and then try to test how big it really is by adding files, and making sure the files were written to disk (verify every single byte by calculating the SHA1 or MD5 sums).
This checks SD Cards by filling them with data.

Takes a while, but did get me a refund from a local computerstore which had got scammed with a bunch of fakes.
Easier just to buy from Amazon. Perfectly good class 4 16g sandisks for around 15.
For those who use Linux may use F3: http://oss.digirati.com.br/f3/ to check a SD card.
Sandisk 32gb class 4 from ebay. I only order in US and never out of country. Paid 45 a couple months ago and never a single issue.

I'd use h2testw to test the card. It writes files all the way up to the 32GB point and tells you if it has less than the advertised amount. It also tells you if any of the written files are read back incorrectly, showing corrupt memory.

Which 32 Gig MicroSd Card UK user

Hopefully sourced from a UK seller, I need to know which 32 gig micro SD card will reliably work in a defy, not too worried about what class speed it is, long as it works. Any ideas, Ebay, amazon etc?

I've had problems with Sandisk and Kingston (both class 6). However, my Topram class 4 32gb card has been working flawlessly (knock on wood).
Interesting, a slower class, works better perhaps ?

about Memorette 32GB class 10.
Will do, I left him a PM, funny how some folk are having problems with proper named brands like Sandisk though, I wouldn't have expected that.
they had problems because they are fake or rejected batches from factory(sell it online)

I need a good 16gb micro sd?

I'm looking for a good quality or at least good performing 16sd card. I'm trying to find a good value, and I've found some class 10's on ebay for like $13, but I know there are variables such as what format they are, but I'm not too hip on what's best? I have a class 4 SanDisk 8gb, and it's time for something faster with more space for all of my backups. If someone maybe has an ebay or amazon link to something they've bought & have been pleased with that would be great! Thanks in advance.

You can grab a 32 gb from Wal-Mart for a little under $30. Why not go that route? I have 2 of them but use a 64 gb atm.

What class are they? Also, is there a certain format I should be sure they are? I have 4 8gb cards I've been moving from phone to phone forever?
Do you need a good one? Up to you, man.
**Good fun ribbing at your thread title. We call that an upswing in the sales world.**
Horrible way to close a deal, btw

Class 6 and reliable when I got mine.
I just ordered a UHS-1 30mb/s read speed, sandisk 32Gb micro sd card for 28 euro, for performance i would go with a class 10 or UHS-1 which operates as class 10s maximum speeds
Ideal for HD recording etc.
On a side note, any memory cards purchased off ebay should be tested for their true capacity, use a german software called H2testw, its gold standard for testing memory read/write speeds. And total capacity
One can not determine if the seller is 100% genuine or not unless its a credible company
It is possible to have a memory card stating its 32GB size for example, but in reality this card could really be only 8GB in size, a tiny program could be installed on a hidden partition and as you save more files to your card, once the 8GB limit has reached it overwrites your oldest files with the newly saved files to keep space, operating systems are fooled into thinking the particular card has a full capacity of 32GB which is not actually true

what class? also be careful with ebay cards a lot of them are fakes.
Grabbed my PNY 32 gig at best buy its a class 10 and has pretty good benches online for $40 right now. It isn't as good as a deal as ebay or amazon but with all the insane amount of counterfeit cards I really felt the still over priced on sale micro sd was a better option.

The worlds fastest micro sdhc is the sandisk extreme pro at 95mb/s, the largest size is 16GB at present, but the speed is useless in a phone, as no phone supports UHS 1 specification.
if it's to be used in a phone then the samsung 16GB class 10 is the fastest at write 21mb/s and read 24mb/s, largest size is 16GB.

Thanks Man! I never heard of sdhc before? Until Android supports it then it won't do much good for me, because I only use sd cards these days for transferring files from between phones, media storage, etc. I generally use usb drives for all my other portable storage needs, but I'll definitely be keeping my eye on sdhc for any advancements in compatibility.
My new sandisk class 10, is well over twice as fast as those old class 4 cards I was constantly shuffling around! This is great for transferring large rom files & movies to external memory.
Better go for SanDisk sdhc class6:thumbup::thumbup:

I meant sdhc sandisk extreme pro, and in the midst of screaming children I didn't finish what I was typing. Though I did not know that 64gb or larger is called sdxc? Is that why it seems they have to be formated differently out of the box or ppl tend to have issues when using them with Android?

Which would be the better microsd card?

Hello,
Planning on getting a 32gb card for my s3 because I always find myself in the situation where I'm freeing up space! I have my eyes on these 3 cards on Amazon, any ideas which would be best?
SanDisk Ultra 32 GB microSDHC Class 10 UHS-1
Sony 32GB Class 10 Micro SDHC R40
Samsung Micro SD 32GB Class 10 Plus UHS-I SDHC
I read that the Sony card performs much better than the SanDisk. The SanDisk gives around 10mb/sec of write speed, the Sony give 15 or so.
Sorry I can't put links to the Amazon items because I'm a new user and I need 10 posts at least.
Thanks guys,
Go with Sony or Samsung (make sure they are not fake). Sandisk is okay, but a lot of people have complaints of sandisk micro SD cards (mainly the 32gb) start acting up after 6 months of use, sometimes to the point it stops working.

I would go for a class4 or class6. Ive heard horror stories about them "ultra class10" and "plus class 10" sd cards and galaxy's. I have both sandisk class4 32gb and samsung class6 32gb and they perform well for what i need them to. Just my 0.02. Good luck.

I have a 32 gig card I bought from micro center and it works great for $20.
Get the samsung! I have personally used both samsung and sandisk, and maybe i was unfortunate that the sandisk was corrupted but the samsung is still working fine considering i got both around the same time.

Hmm on the other hand there are a lot of users that are happy with C10 cards. Maybe they fail after an extended period of time?
Thanks for the feedback guys,
To be honest, I am currently using a 16GB transcend class 4 on my S3 and i'm quite happy with it.
From what i gathered when purchasing my memory card, class 10 mem cards are better with DSLRs where write speed is very important.

200gb micro sd card

I am ready to purchase a new sd card for partitioning to use with MultiROM can anyone suggest anything? I know Amazon is known for fakes so I've got some work to do to find the best one. thanks for any help.
Amazon is not known for fakes. In fact, if you buy the Sandisk or Samsung versions you'll be fine. Plus it's Amazon and not a shady site. I think you're talking about another site. This is your best bet:

Of course it is known for fakes since not all products on Amazon are offered directly by Amazon.
So you want a microSD card for adoptable storage?
Pick one that has the highest random 4KB read/write speeds possible.
That is what's going to matter with adoptable storage as you're going to be launching applications from the SD card.
Here is a good place to start, J. Yang has reviewed a lot of microSD cards and posted all the speed numbers.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/review/R1AH0Q6B97V6W6?ref_=glimp_1rv_cl
For reference the HTC 10 internal storage is capable of roughly 10MB/s read and write speeds in 4KB random.
I would personally pick an microSD card with at least 4KB random read speed of 5MB/s.
For example the 200GB Sandisk Ultra does 3.8/1.6MB/s read/write in 4KB random.
I would probably try my luck with the 128GB Samsung Pro Plus, a reviewer on Amazon ran CrystalDiskMark on it and got 9/2MB/s read/write 4KB random speeds.
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-MicroSDXC-Memory-MB-MD128DA-AM/dp/B01CO48M36
If you really want higher capacity, you could consider the 256GB Evo Plus from Samsung but storagereview's benchmark show it doing about 4.8/1.6MB/s read/write in 4KB random. Which isn't stellar but certainly not horrible, a bit better than the Sandisk Ultra.
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-EVO-Plus-Micro-Memory/dp/B01I4U3FV8/
Best place to buy HTC 10 microsd card
I'd recommend you head over to mymemory. They have a massive amount of genuine microsd cards for the HTC 10. I personally chose the Lexar 200GB 633x High Performance Micro SDXC UHS-I U1 Card - 95MB/s
