stock Rogers rom swype? - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

As the thread title suggests does your Rogers galaxy s3 come with swype? I used another touchwiz room and it had swype it got me wondering if I'm alone here or something, since my stock Rogers ROM doesn't have it

No swype on stock rogers ROM here.

If you need the swype apk I have it in a thread HERE. I also have any other apk's that you may be missing or want. Hope it helps.

I keep getting force closes on my swype. Any idea why?

I don't have Swype. But it comes with its own thing called "Continuous Input". You just have to turn it on. Does the exact same thing.

Swift keyboard is a lot faster at typing than swype. Swype is just fun to use. It's on the galaxy s2 lte

[Q] Spell Correction Issues

The issue i'm facing is the horrible spell correction on my S3. I came from my old S1 directly to the S3. On my old S1 I could type a word out and if it was anywhere near close, the phone would correct it. On my S3 it obviously knows I'm spelling it wrong because it gives me the option to correct it to the right word, but doesn't do it automatically. I am under the impression that it has to be a setting somewhere because even when I downloaded swift I had the same issues. In settings, under the stock keyboard I have all the right boxes clicked as far as what I suspect it should be, but I was wondering if anyone else had this issue.

I am also curious about this. I never had this issue until I flashed the stock touchwiz rooted roms. Now my mistyped words are never corrected automatically no matter what options I select. The rom obviously changed something in the keyboard....anyone know a fix for this? Things like "vibrate on keypress" or the "hand writing" functions just plain don't work/show up. Thanks for any help.

How does this compare with SwiftKey?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
it's more like swype but faster. it's already pretty good but not final yet. i like it more than swiftkey because of swiping. but maybe the next swiftkey version is even better.
Even if this isn't the final version i really like it. It works just like swype but you see the word follow you as you move your finger.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
So far like this keyboard more then swype beta and touchpal keyboards. You must unlearn certain swype gesture's for it to work correctly but very geeked for the final version and the rest of the goodies on 4.2.

Thus keyboard is fast as heck. I'm not in love with the floating, following word as you type though. A keeper for sure though.

You can turn off the floating following words by the way in settings.
Does anyone know how to to punctuation quickly with it like in swype? My favorite thing about this keyboard besides it's awesomeness is that it doesn't auto add every word i manually type in like swype does.

Yeah, that's my question. I hate having to manually do punctuation again, that's what I like about Swype...
For an early version this thing is fantastic.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I just figured it out. It's like Swift key. Hold down the period then your punctuation comes up.
just love it, also love the leakage community
Super accurate. I love how swiping in this keyboard leans towards common words (it, was, how, and, but. then etc.) more than Swype did. If I remember how Swype worked, it would often try to "overpredict" the words when I'm just trying to spell simple conjunction words and then I would have to go back and correct these simple words. Also, it's awesome that we don't have to do the "circle the letter" to double it like when spelling words with repeating letters. It seems like this keyboard just knows what word you want without having to do any special tricks.
I love being able to have the accurate "peck" typing keyboard while choosing to swipe if I wanted to on the same keyboard. Best of both world.

Samsung Keyboard AutoCorrect?

Okay, I'm tired of using third party keyboards and wanted to know if there was a way to fix the auto correct problem on the Samsung keyboard. I notice that it does suggest the word I'm spelling, but if I spell it wrong it doesn't correct it. Any clue how to fix it? Thank you.

Yeah that's a downfall I found with the stock Samsung keyboard. I like the keyboard but if you type a incorrect word it will show the correct word but won't autocorrect it. Guess we need to wait until an update.

its crazy... i use the phonepad option, well did... now i don't because it doesn't work. the auto correct's default is the uncorrected jumbled letters. its completely unacceptable. i started using the swiftkey flow beta, and its not the 4x3 phonepad, but it'll do until someone hacks the htc keyboard to work on jelly bean.
Yea. I just thought someone would have a fix or something. Thanks all!

Yea I found this really irritating too. Mostly because I like to keep 3rd party apps to a minimum and keep my phone clean. It wasn't a bad keyboard either.
Anyways, I'm using Smart keyboard now and its pretty good. Has some nice skins to match the OS as well.

Saw Swype's announcement video when it was released (was using a windows mobile back then though). Downloaded the beta as soon as I got my HTC Thunderbolt; and bought the full version now using my Sprint LGOG
SwiftKey beyond a shadow of a doubt
I use Hacker's Keyboard. It is great for use in the terminal, especially when it comes to running vi.

It won't overwrite the stock lg one. It's officially on the play store from Google. They released it a dew days ago. It's another input option.

I have the stock keyboard installed as well, it gives me the option to update this keyboard within the play market, but won't install after it downloads. I'm probably just going to delete the existing one and try to install the one from the market.
**Update** I don't know if there was a huge difference from the aosp keyboard that what included within this rom, but by removing that version I was able to install the market version.
What ROM are you on? I'm rooted but locked. So I had no issues on the stock ROM. The more I use this keyboard the more I'm looking it over swiftkey. I didn't fully use the swiftkey flow feature. I was always letting up and pressing the space bar before continuing.

My vote is for the 4.2 stock keyboard.

[Q] 4.1.2 Keyboard versus Swiftkey question.

Now that we have received our new JB 4.1.2 update from T-Mobile (yeah! :victory, I have a question.
Samsung licensed Swiftkey technology for their keyboard. It does look much better and respond better than before. I also own Swiftkey. That said, I'm waffling between sticking with the stock keyboard and saving some memory versus running Swiftkey and having some additional options for customization.
What do you do?
Do whatever one you prefer, don't know why you want the answer given to you, just preference. Don't stop using apps just because memory more this phone has its memory
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I stopped using SwiftKey because:
1) it was not remembering the words I told it to remember.
2) swipe prediction was terrible.
Using Swype now.
I prefer the note 2 keyboard myself because it has the numbers on top and I don't have to keep it that stupid little button on the side to make my numbers pop up.

Or just use the free note 2 keyboard from a flashable zip.

Only SwiftKey can insert space bar by swiping over the space bar without letting go of your finger. I find that really hard to beat. I'll stick to SwiftKey until I find something that could do better.
Been looking
Hi guys first post ever here in XDA. Been lurking for a while.
I have the Frosty JB 4.1.1 v11.2.1. I removed alot of apps through Titanium and when I do a factory reset, I don't have any keyboards. I am looking for the stock or note2 or the new 4.1.2 keyboard to install. I have swype but want to get stock so I can put it in the proper folder for factory resets so I wont be without a keyboard upon reboot. I have searched and all I keep finding is themed KB and cant get them to work. I hate the dev stopped producing the frosty rom, I love it on my phone. Cant find the v11.2.1 or I would just start fresh there.
Thanks in advance.

You can either "convert to System app" using TiBu Pro or move the .apk to the /system/app folder and reboot. Root is required for either.
And just fyi, there shouldn't be a link to the note2 kb in the themes and apps sticky.

Because your SwiftKey is from the black market if you have one from the play store and latest upgrade it will stick after reboot like my.

Thank you all. I found tp2215 library and picked up the note2 and installed via zip in cwm.
Then bought the TIBU, per DJ_SpaRky recommendation. I then made a sys app out of the note2.
I just did a factory restore and whamo, Im up and going.
Thank you all very much.
Glad to hear that you were able to get it done.

Its all based on your preferences. I have used both and didn't think anything could be better than swiftkey till I saw the new Samsung keyboard on the s4 Note2 roms. I go back and forth now looking for a new king. I like the option of having the permanent numbers row on the ported note2 but I am also trying the new Kii keyboard on the play store. Install them all and swap back and ofrth in settings untill you decide which works best for you. I currently have 4 or 5 installed.
