[Q] Any method for T-mobile S3 to support chinese? - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Hi, I have a parent who wishes to purchase the samsung galaxy S3 (or maybe Note 2) from T-mobile, but she requires full Chinese support on the core functionality, and if possible, the play store as well. It seems like the T-mobile galaxy S3 does not have Chinese as one of the pre-installed language, so is there any method in which I can get the phone to support Chinese?
And if you suggest rooting/custom rom, is there any particular rom out there that you can link me to (preferably with a tutorial for beginner)?

[Request] Samsung Galaxy S (Forum Redesign) + Bell Vibrant + Latin America I9000 DTV

Just launched yesterday live with rock concert and all.
This one is different from the T-mobile version as it comes exactly like the SGS i9000 with the front camera and all its whistle, plus a few more extra apps, but it runs on the 850 instead of the 900 and it's apparently locked, the international 900 is unlocked
So... are we going to get a new forum for this variant of the Galaxy S, or should we go with this suggestion that many has agreed on this topic?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723076&page=3
to amalgamate all the Galaxy S variants into one organized Samsung Galaxy S forum, then a General section for each sub variant(carrier), else if we keep the current model, we'll have way too many duplicated forums for the same thing, also the development/messages will not be transparent to end users specially those not aware all these models are the same.
Cheers
I guess one important question is: Are ROMs and root methods interchangeable (or nearly so) between the Bell Vibrant and the international versions? If so, then discussion of the Bell Vibrant belongs in the international Galaxy S forum.
the only difference is the radio band, just like the New Zealand model and China model
they are all GT-i9000, but all 4 models (Euro, Asia, NZ, Canada) each runs on a different set of Quadbands
- Edit -
it might be okay to have the Asia and NZ thrown into the same bucket as SGS i9000
but the Bell model is not known as i9000, rather it is advertized as Samsung Vibrant, yet it is not the same Vibrant that is already in the forum, because the T-mobile Vibrant is different from the Bell Vibrant.... see what i'm getting at?
it would have made sense if bell kept it as i9000, rather than Vibrant
Right, the radio band is different.
Now on some phones this makes no difference firmware-wise: You can load the same ROMs on an "AT&T" or "T-Mobile" Nexus One and it will work on whatever frequencies the phone has.
On others it does make a difference: Motorola Milestone firmwares are specific to either UMTS 850/1900/2100 or 900/2100. Installing the wrong firmware results in loss of 3G in non-2100 countries and degraded 2G performance too. There is a group of files one can copy from one ROM over top of another to force it back to the right bands.
Of course there is only one way to find out... someone needs to obtain a Bell Vibrant, try to root it with the same method, and make a full nandroid backup for safekeeping. Then load on a ROM or nandroid backup from an international Galaxy S. See if it still boots, if 3G still works, etc. I suppose there is a small risk of bricking too though
according to a couple of users that got hands on the device already, they were able to flash the unlocked i9000 firmwares into the Bell Vibrant (still locked)
Hi All,
I returned my "Captivate" especially to buy this phone & however neither "Bell" site nor "Samsung Canada" posted what are the frequency bands but it has the 3G 850 required for AT&T here. I suggest to stick with the international I-9000 Thread because After rooting we will have the same things in common with it.
Thanks
I just called "Bell" & they told me that they unlock the phone for $75 & then I called them again & the Rep wasn't that helpful. I'm willing to pay any amount of money to sim unlock it, any of you guys know a "Guaranteed" site for that?

it is increasingly becoming more confusing and hard to keep up with the different forums, dealing with the same phone
here is yet another perfect example
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=750947
of people having bricked their phone due the confusion we have in the forums.

It may be possible if you have any cdma networks in france.

You also might have a better chance now that Verizon is also getting a Galaxy model with a sliding keyboard.
I think you mean att is getting the sII slider which could be unlocked for international use.. eventually. I do not believe they have many cdma networks (verizon, metro, sprint) in europe but if you want it it would be worth researching. By the way your english is fine. Just as good as some others on these forums anyways. also lol at galaxy s pro a wonderful pun on the touch pro.
Cd's or tapes?
Edit: looked into it and the three providers you listed are indeed gsm. So they wouldn't be compatible with our epic. Better move stateside.

Chinese Language support for I747

Hi I was wondering if there is a language pack for the AT&T version of the galaxy s3. I'm purchasing another galaxy s3 for my dad, but I noticed there isn't a Chinese language option for the U.S variants, just Korean, French, Spanish etc. So I was curios, is there a way to install it, or is there a custom ROM? I noticed some international variants have Chinese available and is there a way to flash an international firmware onto the U.S variant. Thanks for any help.
I believe the cyanogen ROMS have more launguage options. I think i remember a post a while back The aokp ROMS might but they should. Give them a try. Try the search function too. There are plenty of threads about it to help you.

[Q] Custom ROM for a Samsung GT-N7108 (Chinese market version)

My friend has a Samsung GT-N7108 that he bought here in China. He wanted me to install Google Play on it so he could install more apps. I transferred the .APK file to his phone, installed, and GP won't work. Surprise! So, we have to flash a new ROM to his phone. Only 1 problem - it's the 7108 which is apparently specific to the Chinese domestic market. I tell my friends to bring me when they shop for phones...but noooo, they never call me and buy crap phones like this.
Seeing as this phone is different than other phones in its line, which ROMs are safe to flash? I really don't want to brick my friend's phone...
The N7108 has a different radio unit configured to use China's own version of HSPA called TD-HSPA, which uses TD-SCDMA rather than the WCDMA the rest of the world uses for HSPA.
As a result, N7100/N7105 roms won't even work/boot on an N7108.
Sent from my GT-N7100
Are there any replacement ROMs, anywhere?
Well, actually, I suppose any hackers would be Chinese, and thus the instructions, etc. would be all in Chinese. Oh well, my dumb friend's fault for buying without doing any research first.
Hello,
is there an any custom rom for this device with google play and other european language ?
Thank's
Anyone found a ROM for this thing?
pleas assist to root gt-n7108

Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini GT-I9190 incompatible app help...

Hi all, I'm having problems accessing apps/games on Google Play. Games like N.O.V.A 3, say incompatible with your device.
I am from the UK, but the S4 Mini I have (GT-I9190) does not have any United Kingdom firmware. Where as the LTE version does.
Is there anything I can do other than wait for UK firmware... Will Samsung ever release any for this phone? Or am I totally screwed.
No one at all can help or give advice? :crying:
Try emailing the developers. It's unlikely to be a region lock. The game Galaxy on Fire 2 HD, for example, is incompatible with my I9195. But compatible with the I9190.

Just had a look, it is indeed the developer and not the UK region. NOVA 3 is incompatible with the I9190.
Is there any way around this, like editing the Build.prop file? Why is it that the I9195 is compatible and the I9190 is not. When they are the same phone apart from the LTE on the I9195. It's really frustrating me. The I9190 needs more support!
Ask the developer. They may just not be aware that there are 3 variants of the S4 Mini and therefore assumed that just supplying one model number would enable it for all S4 Mini variants.
Developers don't own all phones so they do sometimes rely on customer feedback for things to change
