Anyone know of a decent ac charger that works with the nexus? I have like 5 micro usb chargers from various old phones, but only one or two work with the nexus.
I used the one that came with the phone

I use the one that came with my Nexus One. It's 5W charger, like the Samsung wall wart, but has a cable that's a foot or so longer. I keep the Samsung at the girlfriend's. At work I use a 5V/.85a motorola that I found lying around.
Any brand name charger will work fine. Off brands...well...you get what you pay for sometimes.
Idk if itll help, but I have an HP Touchpad in the house, and the "barrel" like wall adapter and a random micro-USB charge with "AC" power as shown by the nexus.
tl;dr buy an HP touchpad charger on the cheap.

i am currently using this one instead original charger,it works fine. works great on my samsung android phones and iphone4 , except ipad2.the package with a free usb cable that for samsung galaxy tab . so you need a normal android usb cable, charger really small and great lookinghttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150731518...18326&_sacat=See-All-Categories&_fvi=1&_rdc=1
If anyone uses a good quality cable or knows of one could u point me in that direction because I always find that the samsung ones stop working after a while around where it plugs into the phone.

AW: New Charger Cable
I always buy the 1 buck things from eBay. They work pretty well and if one breaks there are still enough, because I always buy 5 or 6 at a time.

I have a media bridge 6 foot cable I got off amazon. Great charger cable. It seems like it charges faster than stock too. Not just on my nexus, but also my uncles note.

AW: New Charger Cable
Just checked eBay.
From 1€ to 4,10€ in a day...
Lucky me. I bought 5 for 1 each a few weeks ago.
Hope they will lower the price soon.

I recently bought a nice retractable one from my local Office Max. Liking it a lot! Charges just as fast as the original cable and works for data as well.

I think Google just started accessories for the Nexus 4, like a USB cable, maybe that one will be solid.
Anyone have any suggestions for one?

+1, I love using my nexus orb to charge my nexus 7.

I got a no brand name made-in-China qi charger from ebay, and it works great.
just search with this term on ebay and you will find it.
"qi Wireless Charger for Nexus 4 Lumia 920 HTC 8X DNA Samsung Galaxy Note2 S3"
My concerns with the dbox / eBay ones are whether they will last compared to the nexus orb. It's tempting cost wise but I would be concerned the device fails and I have to get another. Did you guys compare at all to the official orb?
As for the official one, for those that own it is it really easy to pull off / on off the dock?
I read about Tylt and looks like a nice charger but I don't think I want to spend $80 on one either
Sent from my SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 4
i noticed the d-box one the tablet slips off a bit so id imagine it would be the same for the official one...
I was reading through the Amazon reviews and it sounds like it can be a common issue and not just isolated to the Nexus 7. Funny that dbox lists it's product with no slip in the label

It's easy enough, just set it on the orb so that the orb is roughly in the middle, and wait for the docking sound, assuming you have it turned on. When you want to take the tablet somewhere just lift it and it comes right off the charger. It holds the tablet such that the tablet makes a great nightlight/clock for the nightstand.

You'd imagine wrong. Imagine that! :silly:
Nokia DT-900 has an indicator LED when charging. The charge plate is about the same width as the N7. So the LED is visible when placed in landscape orientation. Works well for me.
The drawback is the power supply not being USB compatible. One extra thing to pack for travel...
Has anyone see the Kidigi wireless dock for the Nexus 7 yet?
Also wireless charging btw!

Nokia dt-910 is exactly what you're looking for
Has anyone from the UK ordered the DBox orb copy?
The Nokia would work for sure but it seems like I would have to do an international order. Doesn't look like it's sold in the US. I'll have to check thoroughly when I get home
Sent from my SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 4
att sells it and currently has it on sale for $51, there's a thread about it and the dt-900 on here somewhere. my local store had them in stock. online you get an extra 10% of of you buy 2 accessories and 25% if you get 3

You can get the Nokia DT-910 from AT&T and they have it sale priced at $51.75, which is the best price I've seen.
Post above references my post. You can find it here.

I've got the wireless charging battery cover from Verizon on my phone. It makes the phone a bit thicker. I was wondering if there were any cases out there that can accommodate the extra size. I currently use a Cruzerlite case that I cut a little bit to allow expansion but I'd like something a bit cleaner.
TIA for any input!

You can get wireless charging inlays that fit inside the original battery lid and as such don't increase the thickness of the device
Interesting, never heard of that. Do you have a link?

They're practically impossible to miss, just search ebay or any number of other places for "s3 qi inlay"
Has anyone experienced any issues with the inlays? I just got a wireless qi charger and the Verizon rear case for the phone and have just been putting up with the added thickness. I wouldn't mind considering the inlays though.

They make it a bit thicker and bow the back out very slightly.
To those who currently have a qi wireless charger. Few questions as I'm about to get one.. Does the charging pad get warm? Is it ok to keep plugged in or could it be a possible fire hazard? Stupid question, I know, but I have a hard time trusting cheap stuff from china, lol. Does wireless charging charge as fast as USB? Thanks!

Occasionally. Yes it's fine. And it depends on the pad and the receiver on your phone. Mine is 650mA so it's slightly faster than USB

I wouldn't skimp on the stuff tho. I spent like $50 for my charging pad. Its got two spots and it's made by Energizer.

the pad can get warm but it's fine.
it's not going to blow up or anything.
you can also keep an eye out for the dt500 charging pad that nokia has for the lunia series. they go on sale often for $25.

1. Slightly warm when in use.
2. Yes, it's fine to leave it plugged in. My one at my office desk sits on top of a pile of papers and hasn't set anything on fire yet.
I personally own this receiver (which I use with this pad, though my pads are black rather than white), which works well though my lifeproof case. No dice with the Otterbox Armour case though.
I'd recommend avoiding this charger. It doesn't work worth a damn through a case and constantly connects/disconnects.
I have the same receiver inlay as compo01, using it with a variety of pads, including an official Samsung S4 one that I modded into an ugly but functionally awesome dock

I have the ghost charger that they sell at Verizon. I woke up this morning and my phone showed 116 F. Is that super hot for a phone?

seems unnaturally hot... is there any metal in between your phone and the charger?

my phone gets warm during the initial charging but once it hits 100% it cools down real fast. I can think of only one other thing in this case.. you might not be aligned correctly.. but i would not think that's the case since you seem to be able to get to 100% with no problem...
I have the Verizon and the monster watts WiQiQi kit. I mainly use the Verizon back cover even though it means I can't put a case on. The WiQiQi is a nice kit but when I use it with my preferred case, one with a stand , The screen distorts and bulges. But I put the WiQiQi in my fathers phone with an otterbox and he has no issues.
Took delivery of the official Qi Charger today, can confirm that it works with the Asus Premium cover (just).

One thing worth noting, the wireless charger appears to be very fussy about the cable and wall charger used to power it.
Works absolutely fine with the supplied cable/charger but doesn't seem to like most other combinations.

Thanks for the info, if you have a tpu case to hand, could let us know if it charges through the case?
Cheers
Rob
Just to let people know, you can also use a Nokia charging pad. It takes about 30 minutes longer to charger a full charge. It works with it in my poetic case and it's not that sensitive to where it is placed on it.
Have just tried the charger with a Tecknet TPU case fitted, it works but as with official case the magnetic effect is reduced making it slightly harder to hit the sweet spot.
