If this happens, the phone.com in this case is corrupted by some event. Restoring gives you the original settings of system apps.

Yes you are right: it came from a program to restore you ringtones and apparently the program is messing the contacts database.
I had it again after having used this program. I did a wipe of my contacts database and my phone works again.

More details? Rooted, or installed any custom mods or etc? Try factory reset, if else not working then you will have to flash your firmware again.

Thanks for the response. I'm a novice - how do I find out if the phone is Rooted? How do I do a factory reset? Or, where can I find information on these issues?

Alright, if like that means you haven't play anything on your phone yet, To resolve that, go to Settings > Backup and reset > factory reset your device.
Warning all apps will be lose your apps and all will be reset to default. (*just like you have newly bought your phone)
You can backup your SMS messages using SMS Backup & Restore app. Search for it in Playstore, If you want to backup your contacts, just export your contacts to SD card.

Or, you can try remove all your account and add them again then disable the Sync, See if it helps, if not, try reset your phone. If you are very unlucky even after reset the problem still presist, you should sent to Samsung Service Centre, maybe is hardware related issue.
Hi, I used online nandroid Backup to do my ROM backup to external sdcard. While fiddling with some app installation, something I don't like happened and I wanted to restore my ROM, so I did CWM recovery and restore the backup that I already did. Restoration process was successful but after reboot, I got all kinds of pop-ups saying that "Unfortunately so-and-so has stopped" (or something to that extent) and it just wont stop popping-up, one after another. Even after it finally stopped, whenever I wanted to open an app, the whole cycle started again. What seemed to be the problem here? Did I do a bad backup or is it something else?
Appreciate your input. Thanks

You mean do a full wipe and try restoring the backup again in recovery? And you can get back to the state that you were before?
I reflashed the ROM which is a hassle because you have to start again from scratch with all the settings and accounts.
Thanks
When I switch my Z1C on from being completely off, I get the following error message:
Unfortunately android.process.acore has stopped working.
Is there a resolution for this?

Try clearing contacts and contact storage app data and see if that works. Sync/save your contacts before doing this. If not you can always do a factory reset and the problem should be gone. Backup your sms and make a list of the apps before though because you will have to reinstall all of them.
Funny thing is that it only started doing this after I had factory reset the phone.

Do you think that it would cause any issues if I just hit on OK and left it at that?
Well you posted the issue so up to you what you want to do. I just googled that error for you lol and that's what I found, contacts and contact storage.
I switched off completely then on again after a min and no message about acore so maybe its nothing to worry about.
Hello! Yesterday I decided to update my OP3 to the latest version, and as usual, I rooted it and restored with titanium backup. Everything went as usual, but today I decided to send a SMS and the stock app kept crashing, so I tried to use messenger (from Facebook) it crashed when I enabled SMS.
Later, I searched about this and found that i needed to clean data and cache, but when I checked on the application section I had none, the cache and data were empty.
I've already tried to use 3rd party apps to send messages, but all crashed the same way as the stock.
How can I fix this? I don't want to factory reset again my phone, is a pain to restore the data.

Thats been an issue with the OTA updates. Seems not to work right (never advised anyone to do ota as a single millisecond of data loss causes issues)
You may have to end up Factory resetting. Also TIBU messes up google messaging service so you will end up with apps not giving notifications properly.

People have said that reinstalling the apps without wiping the data works. I just set everything up again. But then I like most developers use less then 10 apps on our devices other then the stock apps.

Ok. I'll try a factory reset and reinstaliing the apps without TiBu. I'll get back to you when I finish this.
It worked, thanks!

Hey, is there a way to restore my messages from google drive?
I uploaded backup, made an update and I can't restore it becouse "device is not active" -_-.
The only thing that is different is software version.

Yes, it is possible to restore your messages from Google Drive if you have previously backed them up. If you're receiving a message saying that your device is not active, here are a few things you can try:
1. Make sure your phone is properly connected to the internet
2. Try logging out of your Google account and logging back in
3. Check if you are using the same Google account that you backed up your messages with
4. Try restarting your phone and then attempting to restore your messages
5. Check if you have given necessary permissions to the app to access your Google Drive backup
If none of the above works and you are still unable to restore your messages from Google Drive, try contacting Google support for further assistance.

The only way is to factory reset phone and go through setup again. Been there too many times.... Once you are finally rooted, I would use SwiftBackup app to backup and restore apps, app data, sms and call data
