No improved camera application with the jelly bean update - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I just received the jelly bean update. I was under the impression that the camera would be updated, but it's not. Is anyone else having this same problem? Also, I thought that the lock screen was getting an overhaul as well. Thanks in advance for the answers.

There are changes to the lock screen and the camera but they are subtle.
The lock screen can now have 5 shortcuts, instead of 4.
The camera now has a low light mode for still photos (look under shooting mode). You can now pause and continue recoding in video mode.
There may be other changes but that is all I have noticed.

Disable the ripple effect under settings/lockscreen/lockscreen options. This will give you the JB rings when you press and hold the screen.

[Q] Ripple Effect Not Working

I really love the ripple effect of the lock screen for the SGS3. Am I able to use it with a different wallpaper (other than stock)? It won't let me select ripple, because I'm using a different picture, but it's not a LWP. Does ripple effect only work with the preselected, stock wallpapers?

Yeah, I'm running XquiziT v26. I couldn't get it to work when it was not rooted and stock, also.

Im on v26 as well. So youve never had it working??? Thats just odd.
In lock screen options are you certain you have ripple effect checked?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Weird thing is:
It was blacked out, but I found out why. I was using a third-party application to set my home screen/lock screen wallpaper. For some ought reason, the phone confused the static pictures with live wallpaper. So, I saved one of the wallpapers and opened it in a photo viewer and set it as my backdrop. Sure enough, when I checked, the "ripple effect box" was no longer grayed out.

Really not liking this update. Is there anyway for me to downgrade it back?

Why not, maybe it will take some getting use too.

Dont like the color of the notification bar, its gray now. Browser seems a bit laggy (Maybe the incompatibilities between JB and Flash?). I dislike the new transition when opening apps. The phone just feels awkward.

yeah totally OFF topic of this thread. But i will tell you how to get into recovery then dont post about that in this thread anymore since it has nothing to do with the topic of this thread....
Steps to get to recovery:
1. Power phone completely off
2. Once powered off, press and hold VOLUME UP
3. While holding the VOLUME UP key, press and hold the HOME KEY
4. While holding VOLUME UP key and while holding HOME KEY, go ahead and press the POWER BUTTON to turn on your phone.
5. You will see blue letters flash up on the screen, you can let go of the buttons once you see that. If you dont see that, then wait till you see the galaxy s3 splash screen then let go of the buttons.
6. Flash the .zip file in the recovery. BTW you MUST have a custom recovery installed. IE TWRP CWM. If you need further help please use the search function or google to figure it out. Just type "CWM or TWRP in the search function.

Maybe So. I do like that the recent apps screen is way faster and smoother. But man. Why change the status bar color? So unnecessary.
Anyone haptic feedback feel different?

The status bar is hideous, agreed. Haptic feels the same to me as it did on ICS and the JB leaks.

Just want to ask fellow xda members for help and opinion. Im using the same picture on my homescreen and lock screen but I have noticed that the quality of the picture on the lockscreen is nit as clear or as sharp as the one on my home screen even though im using the same picture. Any ideas?

Most likely you have the "Ripple Effect" enabled, just go into lock screen settings and disable it.

Ive tried the method u told me and it does help a bit, still not as clear as if I use the picture as home screen but better that if I have the ripple effect on. Thanks for the great advice.

T989 won't screenshot on jellybean

No matter what OS, on jellybean, the feature to screenshot doesn't show up, on stock I can't screenshot at all. CM10.1 is the only one I can do so on. I would prefer stock, but I'm using that T-Mobile JB leak, and I don't know if that feature just wasn't included, or what?
Can you guys help me here? How can I screenshot on stock?

No your in the development section not Q&A and yes volume down and power does work and always has for any ROM on this device that I have used. Timing had to be right but it works.

I understand that it is the normal way to do it. I always do it, on my tablets, on my phones, everything. It just won't work. I've reinstalled stock, I've installed Jedi jelly, Jedi mind trick, anything that comes with touchwiz will not let me screenshot.
Tl;Dr, the button combination doesn't work, and none of the apps do. It's like the ability is absent from my phone. ICS and gingerbread it works on, as well as CM or AOKP, but none other.

I just had a brainfart and figured it out. The leak is for the version of the t989 with the centered home button, so when I hold down home and power, it screenshots! Just for anyone else who has this issue.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
So I was wondering about this, and figured out that unlike htc, when you want a screen shot, you hold the power button and just tap the home button, the official t989 tmous release of jb requires that you press and hold both the power button and home button, at the same time, for two seconds, it will screen shot! It feels not very intuitive as the amaze, but still not complaining, I enjoy it very much, just going through sense w/d's, without my weather widget, or all the other cool full screen widgets, fm radio ect ect
thanks .... screen capture on Kodoo Gs2x or T989d

When I scroll to my far left screen, on the left side I see where the background cuts off. Anyone else experience this?

Think it has to do with wallpaper scrolling. Not sure though. But I'd try that. I always use center wallpaper on miui jst cuz tho.

Just set your wallpaper to center in launcher settings. Makes it smoother and doesn't have that problem.
