Greetings all.
I rooted my sgn2 using the toolkit and installed TWRP.
Then proceeded to install Omega rom.
In TWRP, I wiped cache dalvik syetem, factory reset.
I now have my IMEI as unknown and I do not have a efs backup. Is there a way to restore my imei/efs partition? I have searched all of xda without a resolution. I seriously wished I backed up my efs partition.
Please let me know if there is anything I could do.
Thank you,
William
I think you'll have to take in for service for a fix. Warranty?
But yes, for all the new flashers out their, remember to backup your efs before modding your phone.

Did you flash a rom that was meant for another phone? It may have included a modem and overwrote your existing modem partition.

Oh my please help me, I'm a noob. I tried the first links for the ROM and the modem but they're not working. So o tried the second ones. I see the dloads on the phones card but I don't see them when I put the phone into download mode. I got the same exact problems this post describes. What am I doing wrong.
Im facing this error right now.
Hi all,
i've search and tried most of the methods on threads with similar issue but to no avail.
So i'm posting my situation here hoping someone with the expertise can help me.
My IMEI became null/null after flashing Criskelo rom. I had previously saved a copy of my efs.img on my PC.
When restoring my EFS backup, it says "/dev/block/mmcblk0p3: write error: No space left on device"
So i used Odin, flash a stock ROM with pit, bootloader, pda, phone and csc.
The flashing was successful with no errors but stuck samsung logo for as long as i can wait.
I then booted to stock recovery and notice it says "E: failed to mount /efs (invalid argument)"
so i did a wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition.
Reboot. Still stuck at Samsung logo.
I tried to sideload my efs.img but there is a "E: signature not verified" error
So i thought what the heck and flashed Chenglu's CWM via Odin. Phone successfully boot to CWM
i wiped data/factory reset, cache and dalvik. Reboot and still stuck at Samsung logo.
I then tried flashing CF-Autoroot, it was ok as well with no issues but stuck at Samsung logo again.
Rebooted back to CWM, Tried to mount efs, got an error saying error mounting efs
i flashed various stock rom via Odin, all process PASS with green but mostly stucked at samsung logo...
is my device soft bricked? or is my sd card is dead? or is my efs partition fried?
anyone kind enough to share his complete backup file? my country sells the n7105.
i bought the export n7100 instead so its kinda hard for me to find a friend with the same fone.
i have been flashing roms since the good old Galaxy S and this is the 1st time i cannot revive my phone from past experience...

I would try formatting the partition and then untarring your backup.

Thanks for posting those links. I was stressing there for a while.
Now this may be a stupid question is there a USA T-Mobile friendly ROM out there? I'm coming from a Galaxy Nexus running a nightly of CM 10.1, and the stock ROM is driving me nuts.

I soft-bricked my galaxy and there's no way to fix it, help! Okay, this is a what happened, I installed a custom ROM which worked out perfectly well until one day all applications started force closing for apparently no reason so I reboot and got stuck in a boot loop. I can only access download mode, recovery is out of the question. I tried to flash back to stock with Odin and it "passed" but the screen was just blank. So, I removed the USB cable hoping it will work and it got stuck in another boot loop. I tried everything that I could have think of but nothing works. It seems that I'm not the only one and is common for Galaxy W devices. Please help!
Also, in the worst case how do I send it back to Samsung? I mean, I know how to but will they fix it?

did you full wipe before flashing stock rom?
what stock gaming rom, it is full recovery?
you may can try:
- flashing again cwm using odin,
- if succesfull, boot to cwm, format data and cache, except system
- try reboot normally.
- if failed, format everything, except your sdcard,
- flashing stock rom using odin, (better use stock rom provided for your country), use original stock rom, not modified rom ! with size more than 350mb, its contain recovery, baseand and everything you need. of course your cwm will be replaced after. you can flash again cwm after your phone boot normally.
good luck.

When I did the ''IV. Accessing ClockworkMod Recovery'' , I tried to backup my phone, but there wasn't enough space to do it, so I pressed ''reboot'' and this happens, it goes through the samsung and galaxy w logo, but after that the screen just turns black, this happens every time when I try to turn it on. I can access the clockworkmod recovery.
I have tried to ''wipe the cache partition'', ''wipe data/factory reset'' and wipe ''dalvik cache'' but it doesn't seem to work.
What should I do, I don't want cyangenmod after this haha I just want to know if there is a way to get the phone working.
Any answers would be appreciated

Some wrong sequence there :
Forgets the steps as per attachment.
In assumption the CM9 ROM.zip is in your SD Card...
Boot to CWM
Locate the CM9 ROM using and remember the location i.e. External SD etc
Now under Advance...Format all folders clean (not the folder containing the CM9 ROM)
Wipe / Format / Cache etc = the usual
Wipe Dalvik
Fix Permission
Flash the CM9 then GAPPS
Reboot...:good:
No need to back-up once you have used CM9...you will never go back to GB
If you insist on back-up just move all your treasures in your PC 1st, best to format the SD Card then move the ROM.zip to it

Hi Guys,
I don't really know what happened to my Note 2. I'm just browsing photos then suddenly it froze and restarted but it is stuck at the FIRST boot screen:
Samsung Galaxy Note II GT-7100.
There's 2 boot screen right?
1.) The white text on black background, 'Samsung Galaxy Note II GT-7100"
2.) Then the animated Samsung logo.
I'm stuck at the first one.
I tried to access its recovery (press and hold - volume up button, home button, power button). It just boot again to screen 1.
I can only access, Odin mode ( press and hold - volume down button, home button, power button).
I tried to flash it using Odin with official samsung rom, but no good. it still boot and stuck at the first boot screen.
What should I do to have a recovery mode? I don't mind if it's official samsung or a custom one. :crying:

Go to download mode and flashed CWM first. After flashing CWM wipe dalvik, cache partition & then data reset. U will loose downloaded apps or sms & call logs.
Later flash a new firmware thru pc odin & the phone will start perfectly. Give a try. Hope it works for u. Its a risk but give a try.

i have the same problem, do you mind please provide the solution step by step? i'm very fresh in this thing.. thanks!! :crying:
I just had this issue an hour ago. The phone, however, has been acting up for the past month. Random freeze in normal use and esp when browsing the web. I always have to hard reset the phone and it has been working until an hour ago. It was a freeze so i thought oh this BS again, and hard reset the phone. Then, the phone would be only stuck in the white "Samsung" screen... My first priority is keep all the data, so I was wondering after flashing the CWM and wipe the cach and dalvik. Is it necessary to wipe data for this to work? I do not want to lose all the data. The only thing I ask for is to get into system somehow, get all the data i need onto the SD card, and i can do whatever to my phone afterwards...
I think i'm ****ed. In odin it says no PIT partition. I found a lot of others having this issue, and Doctor says that this is called SDS (sudden death syndrome) ... It is a bad day and **** my life.

I have the exact same problem but what happened with my GALAXY NOTE 2 GT-N7100 that I was charging it while suddenly a some writings in french appeared on screen and I could only click on something was written down the screen and I guess it meant to reboot the phone, I unplugged it and pressed that thing down the screen and my phone automatically restarted and froze at the 1st logo screen ( the one with black background and white writings ) .. I plugged it to odin but every time I try 2 flash a custom firmware it fails and says ( re-partition failed ) in odin... Itook it to many ppl and no one could fix it, they told me that it's ( sudden death ) but I dont think so because I think that sudden death happens automatically and the phone doesn't start at all ( mine happened after clicking on that french thing and it's stuck on 1st logo screen ) and they told me that the boot files are damaged and I the only solution is to change the mother board which will cost me about (370 $ here in Syria ).. and I can't access recovery mode to wipe dalvik and cache.. can anyone help me please ? And I couldn't understand maheshhtc way to fix this.. please help me asap...
Please help me too... I'm sorry but trying to flash CWM, I'm getting a No PIT error.... and then it fails right there
guys im trying to install CWM through ODIN, but its not working.
it says setupconnection, and after a while it shows FAILED.
im having same problem, and I know i can solve it by flashing custom recovery, but just cant do it.
any help?

Iv been having similar issue.. I always use odin mobile for flashing zip files or updates kernels etc. Under rom manager I can flash latest cwm recovery but then when I push power button and select reboot into recovery the phone reboots but gets stuck in a bootloop I can then boot into download mode using 3 button combo but thats all I can do. I have to reflash cf_root file which solves the problem and brings the phone back to life.. can anyone shed some light on this issue. Im paranoind about trying to boot into recovery incase it keeps happening as I dont want to have to keep reflashing. This is my current set-up

Go to the recovery mode and do all the wipes(data/cache/partition/factory reset)...
Download a new the stock version in download mode via Odin...
Then you can reinstall your ROM in recovery mode...

First thing is to go to your recovery again. May I know what is your recovery? Is it CWM? Then, if you have important data/files in your internal sd card don't wipe your DATA, just flash a ROM then reboot.
After you reboot, get your important files and transfer for a while in your external sd card then try a clean installation of ROM
1. Format system, data, cache.
2. Flash the ROM
3. Reboot
Hope it will work.

I always wipe system before flashing a new rom. Just remember that system is your OS and if you wipe it without subsequently flashing a rom, there will be nothing to boot into.

Did you start in OE1 build? If you wiped system and don't have a nandroid backup, look in development section for Noterized Stable 2 and flash that in recovery. If you don't have custom recovery or root, you can still use Odin for root and recovery tars.
If you haven't rooted or flashed stock recovery, a battery pull or factory reset may get you going again on stock. I'd wait for the next OTA if that is the case. Can't say when OTA is coming but since the last update wasn't supported with a tar, it should be forthcoming.
If no, Odin should give a failure. Did it complete with a success message? A tell here is a message stating something to the effect of aboot not authorized; shortened in parenthesis.

Mmhmm. Giving the title to your post that you did and the fact that the frustration alone with Android wants you to venture to Apple, it seems that an iPhone would be your best option. Id go with the 6 Plus, personally(on my deathbed of course), but you mentioned the iPhone 5, so I stuck with the 5 also in my reply.
I got alliance rom running. I am done messing with my note 4.
I unrooted oe1 easily
I am having the same issue. I was on stock rooted with TWRP recovery. I tried switching over to stock deodexed and have got nothing but boot loops it doesn't even go past the note 4 screen. I've since tried using odin to put the stock rom on and everything fails. I can not flash zips either I've been doing all clean installs. Any ideas as to how I can get my phone working again?

@Chubby19865 got Alliance working. I believe its either that or Noterized youll have to flash until either another OTA or .tar comes out.
You have the same issue I did. What i did was i flashed the ob7 modem via odin. I also install philz cwm, since i couldn't transfer files with twrp. I also made a backup with cwm before i did everything. For you, you should flashed bob7 modem and wipe and install alliance rom. That's what i did.

You cant go down that route in the situation youre in. Flash just the Modem, not the entire firmware, then flash the Alliance rom.
Im happily on NK2 after not being impressed with Lollipop(well-named IMO, it does suck indeed), so i cant speak on the TWRPvsCWM for recovery and file transfer chubby mentioned.
I flashed the modem it went through but I am still getting boot loops.

Are you waiting long enough? If i remember correctly, the lollipop roms can take anywhere from 10-15 on first boot.
Only thing i can suggest is a Battery Pull, Wipe, Flash Modem, Wipe, Flash Alliance.

Maybe that's what @Chubby19865 was referring to when he used Philz recovery?
That project is no longer updated but apparently still works. I think it was gotten from this link but use at your own risk. A confirmation would be nice.

Ditto on the wait reply. What do you see with TWRP flash and initial boot?
Uncharted waters for us trying to help not on the OE1 blues but the custom lollipop ROMs have to optimize and start the dalvik-cache directory with art dex files.

Lemme go through some of the OE1 threads and see what I can find.

Apparently this needs to be placed on your SD and flash that? Still searching for a more defined "process of steps"
FYI... TWRP was mentioned, so if youre using philz(cwm) id use TWRP for that process. Lemme pilfer some more.

You've already covered half of what @Chubby19865 suggested.
What's left? Odin Philz CWM Recovery, CWM nandroid backup (if system wasn't already wiped). Wipe and flash Alliance.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61667056&postcount=10
To my recollection, there's only two users that posted success in flashing anything but Noterized.
@DreamingWolf was the other I recall. He primarily used an old OB7 nandroid to get back. But from all reading and recollection, Odin stock tars remain broken for OE1 OTA update. Without a tar to fall back on, that's a sad place to be.

Ok.. i need to go on a beer run, this is most annoying not being able to assess the situation from your side of things or id be able to give you step by step instructions. Try flashing Noterized in the meantime though instead of deodexed stock. Ill be back shortly.
