Hey folks. Just got my gn2 today! I was wondering why my 64 gb class 10 card is not being read? Rather, not completely being read. When I downloaded es file explorer none of my old files (from my evo 3d) were there. However when I used another file explorer(AnTek Explorer) There were my files..Now my pictures and music from my sd card picked up but not any of my roms for my emulators or alot of other files. What gives here? Do i need to reformat my sd card? I read some thread saying the phone cant run any apps off of the sd card because of jelly bean, so do i have to be rooted to do this? Any help would be appreciated.
Anyone out there have any clue as to what to do about this?

I have been looking for the last week trying to locate instructions (assuming there are instructions) for swapping out an sd card in the G2. My phone is rooted. Has clockwork recovery, has the CyanongenMod 6.4 Rom.
Can someone give me a brief run down on this? Do I have to re-root and reinstall ROM for sd card swap?
OR, can someone please just post a link to the page (if there is one) that will describe the Rooted, ROM mod'ed, overclocked, and whatever..., HTC G2 SD card swap?
Thank you! This will be really appreciated! Mainly because I am a full time criminal justice student about to graduate with not much time to spend 50 hours a day looking for this anymore!
Sincerely,
Paul
Do you just want to use a different sd card in your phone?

No. Or I guess, yes. Im bumping the gigs from the stock 8 to 32

mount the sd via flash reader or usb and copy all of it over to the new sd card then pop the new one in the phone and presto!
that simple really??? what about hidden files or roots????
Sorry I'm about to do the same thing and was wondering...
Any root and or system files are on your phone. You can swap sd cards freely. Just copy everything to your new on on a computer and your good togo.

Root and all that is done internally on the phone, the sd card just has things on it like application data, or pictures or music. So as long as you transfer everything from the old sd card to the new one, you will be good

Ok.
Another question in result of this answer, I already have everything backed up with titanium (I think that is what it is called) backup. Same with in clock work recovery. And now after all of these procedures, I copied the whole sd card top my hard drive. Can I put the new card into the phone and use the phone to format the new card so I can do away with a lot of junk that I would not necessarily know about.?Then copy the files I want back onto the new card?

Correction. When I day junk, I mean not transferring the un necessary junk from the old card to the me card. And just format thee new one with nothing on it so it will work inthe phone.

Really its an sd card just switch it out transfer any music or anything to the new one it don't need an entire thread

What you need to do, is copy all the files from the old card into a file on your pc somewhere, unless you have a desktop that has a card reader on it.
Take the old card out.
Put the new card in the phone, format it. (menu/settings/sdcard/format)
Then open the files and transfer them into the new card that is mounted in your phone through usb. Or if you have a card reader on your desktop just drop and drag to the new card.
My question is, what class of a card do you need to purchase?
Dunno. It is a class 4, though. I don't think a class 4 will be a bad choice, given the card is rated at 4 mb/s. Something like that. I would think the C4 would be a relevantly fast enough card.
I wanted to let y'all know, I just transfered all over to the new card. Sorry for a dumb thread. I really didn't think it would that simple. But I guess some things are!
I was wondering if anyone could help me with this annoying problem. My phone has been shutting off almost every time I extract a zip file or move a file to/from the external sd card. I dont know if it's the sd card itself or if it's the file explorer (which is ES). I'm running Blazer 4.1 and stock EL29 kernel. What can I do to fix this? Thank you in advance.
I would try another browser first. I use root explorer. If that doesn't clear it try another card just to test. If you don't have access to another card try backing up your card and format it from the phone. Then try again and see if it works.

Also what's the size of your card? Is it a cheap knockoff?

Thanks, I'm gonna try formatting the card and switching file browsers. By the way my card is a Sandisk 16gb micro sd.
Okay, so I rooted my at&t E970 using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1941699 . I mainly did the root because I wanted to transfer some of my apps to my SD card. I download App2sd and another transfer program and they both have difficulty finding my SD card in some way. How can I fix this? My other android phone is rooted and I use those apps to do transfers all the time. I can play music and see photos that are on my sd card. AND I HAVE A LOT OF MEMORY. Any help? Thanks in advance.

Oh, wow. I didn't notice that. Can a mod delete this thread as I've made a copy over on the correct forum?
Nothing there. As empty as it could be

I would copy all the files from the SD Card to your PC, via a sd card reader or if u still have the evo.
then put the card in your phone, boot to recovery and format the external sd card.
then boot to system and then if the phone sees the Sd card you can copy back the files that you need

What do you need the Evo for? He told you take the card out, put in your computer, copy all the files you need. Put the card back into the S3 boot into recovery format external SD card. Reboot your s3 and now see if it recognizes the sd card fine. Now go back to computer and copy over the files you needed to save.

You have 2 threads about your phone. First try doing a complete restore of your phone. Some where in Settings. If things still bad, ask for a replacement.

Hi!
I just installed the UK Jelly Bean ROM on my Galaxy Ace 2 and i haven't noticed any issues while using the phone. However, when I try to copy a big file to my sd card connecting the phone to the computer (using mass storage mode), the copy process just freezes. Connecting the SD Card to a normal SD adapter works, there are not any issues copying files that way, but it's imposible to copy files using the phone. Any way to fix this?
Thanks!

I thought I was the only one! I don't think there's a fix for it, not as if Samsung care. Be careful, because of how many times I've had to re-copy files and the constant freezing my SD card was destroyed!

Yeah, that is really annoying, you are not the only one. I've noticed that on MB2 as well, I thought it was a problem in the leak version but it seems they did not bother fixing it. I don't think there is a fix apart from using MTP rather than mass storage for now. Or use apps like AirDroid (or similar) to copy files via WiFi/Data.

It may not be completely destroyed - have you tried running chkdsk /f (or fsck on linux) on your SD card? That saved my card anyway
I usually just take the SD out now and put it into a card reader, I don't like MTP or the hassle of other apps. Besides, I never use the internal SD anyway.
It's definitely dead, I've tried everything from low level formats to what you mentioned. Completely dead, like the one I had before it.. My last phone and the Ace have went through a 32gb SanDisk, 16gb SanDisk and a temporary 4gb no name card in the space of just over a year.
I've had a SanDisk Mobile Ultra 8gb in for a while now and it appears to be working fine so I'm quite happy atm
