[q] roms for 4g

Which ROMS can one use to connect to 4G on a HTC Incredible?
You can't connect to 4g with the incredible its not made for it.....Verizon's 4g requires a sim card and it just came out recently and the Inc is a year old.... when you see 4g in the settings on a custom rom for the Inc more than likely it is an evo based rom and its not a functional part of the rom... hope I helped to explain it
Sorry some of my words came out wrong these keyboards finish spelling the words.... I corrected them now

You can only conenct to 4G if the device has 4G radios. The Incredible doesn't have them so u can't connect to 4G

Root my evo... should I? Is it safe?

Hi, I didn't want to post this in the dev section, but hopefully you guys can help me out here.
My nephew has a evo 4g (sprint)...with 2.3.3 stock on it...He wants me to root/custom rom/theme it for him....I have a t-mo vibrant I've done it on many times, however I'm not sure if it's safe to do it on the evo??? My Vibrant is "unbrick-able" for the most part and I'm wondering if the evo is about the same or not...I googled evo 4g brick and seems it mainly happens with "RADIO" updates?? not sure exactly what that is, but, if I refrain from "RADIO" updates, can I..
1.. root his phone and put on recovery (or evo's equivalent) and flash him a rom/theme without taking a huge risk?
2 Does the evo have the same option as my vib, to flash back to a completely stock phone, in case of a warranty issue?
3. Synergy seems to be the popular/stable rom for this phone...??..any thoughts...
4. Will he have any random issues I can't think of right now?? (for example...any txt/mms/gps/ect bugs?)
Any help would be much appreciated...thanks in advance
First you need to boot into hboot and check to see if s is on or s is off. If it says "s on" at the top "in hboot" than you are not able to move forward until root is obtained.
As of right now there is no root method for 2.3.3 but I'm sure there will be soon as far as bricking it yes radio updates are the only time I've ever heard of any one really bricking their evo .

Power the phone off and then hold the vol down button and the power button then it should go into hboot. Also we are still waiting for the latest ota update (software version 4.24) to be rooted.

EVO is unbrickable unless you pull the battery when you're manually updating the radios.

I haven't read about it working but I've been rooted for a long time now so I really don't know.
Rooting can be a little scary but once you have root and a recovery its really easy to flash ROMs themes mods ect.. just make sure you read everything about it before you try anything and make sure it worked for other PPL first.

Rooting is only as safe as the person handling the phone.
No root method for 2.3.3, although they do say they are close to coming up with root. At this time for eta, it does suck for everyone who purchased an EVO after bootloaders were locked.

[Q] I've tried flashing many ROMS none of them install correctly!!

I've tried Starburst ROM, Criskelo and Lite'ning. They all flash perfectly fine but when my phone boots up I have no service. Any advice? Please help. I'm a noob. By the way I have an SPH-D710 if that helps any.
Try staying on stock and then root with stock kernel
If that works its all good just flash a custom rom on top of that and reflash the rooted stock kernel
If thats a no ho try lost kernel
Also viper rom i think has lost kernel built in
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Right now I flashed my phone back to the stock kernel are you saying I should use a different one? Sorry I'm just new to this android game.
Maybe you're doing the same thing I was doing. The Galaxy S2 and Epic 4G Touch are two different phones. The GS2 uses a SIM card, so if you have a GS2 ROM, then you won't have service since it's looking for a SIM card. Check to make sure you're downloading a Epic 4G Touch ROM so that you don't get bricked like I did. -_-
What ROMS can I use for an Epic 4G?

no more 4g

I rooted my tmobile S3 today and it worked fine. Later I installed a cyanogen nightly sang noticed it was only getting 3g, so I did a restore to the stock rooted firmware through ROM manger. With that I got just bars, no indication of 4g or 3g. The phone wouldnt go to the internet, it said no connection available. I had to restore back to cyangen to get the phone just to work... but regardless of which settings I chose the phone is stuck in 3g. What is the fix? I'm going crazy here

I don't know much more than you sorry. I know imei can get corrupted when flashing and it causes problems like that.

3G on cm is the same as 4G on tmo stock rom.
Try checking your apn settings on the stock rom since I think your imei is fine, without it you wouldn't have gotten 3G at all, even on cm.

Wait, are you just looking at the icon without it doing anything. Many aftermarket ROMs will show 3G when the phone is doing nothing. It will show 4G or H when you make it work.

It is not an LOL deal, if you have no clue that means you didn't bother reading anything about flashing a rom IMEI is mentioned all over, IMO you deserve no help what so ever since you think LOL is a proper response to not reading how to do the job the right way, enjoy your slow data speeds maybe if you learn to read it will work again

From a ns4g to s2

I've been around for a bit from the tmo dash to the touch pro to the evo and soon to the epic touch. I have a few questions which i hope some of.you can help me with. Does this have the same weak radios and horrible battery of the ns4g? And what's with all these build numbers fh this and that? What would changing the modem do? Is cwm still the most popular recovery? And finally, it has ics on it so will I be able to root?
I have been trying to read but I'm getting confused. I was able to only update the radios, rom and kernel now there are all these options.
Thanks in advance for any useful info

I had to root the evo through adb shell. I was too impatient to wait for a one click solutuon. That was a pain and a process. I've read that the et4g is one click root so I'm happy

Thanks for the replies. From reading I'm gathering that a modem is the same as a radio? And do I have to look at anything before I can just flash away (I mean in terms of being compatible). I hear these are easy to brick also...

Just look for the newest one download the .zip and flash through recovery. It all depends were u live radios r different for every phone a new modem might not work as good as a old one so just download a couple and which works better.

I got this from a friend who is getting an iPhone. He just had his S2 replaced like a month ago so I get a new phone for cheap. Im holding out my upgrade for a quadcore phone. I refuse to go with the LG only because I dont think the developer or factory support will be there. This should make my wait more bearable with my huge leap from NS4g.
I have jelly bean right now with everything working ok (except the massive battery drain) on my NS4G. Anything close to that on this phone? How is the developer support? Im coming from a phone with ok support and maybe like 3 choices that are updated consistantly.
Yes all modems are compatible with any rom and we have cm10 and aokp versions of jellybean. The brick issues are much much less now that we developers have identified the problem and made safe recoveries. Don't flash anything in stock recovery.
