Soooo... in this thread you find links to CWM recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1623393
Most of the time there's a guide how to instal but my guide if you flash a rom after you installed cwm succesfully : - backup and restore choose backup wait until its done - factory reset and then wipe cache - then choose update from sd card then select update from sd card .... and then you see al ur sd card folders choose your rom .. after it says instal from sd card complete go back with de back or power key and choose reboot
I recommend to install democracy bcz i don't like the Trad maxi gio ui but that's personal choise ..
Succes

[Q] How to install Miui on HTC Desire ?

Hey there,
i am new here. I have quietly no idea of ROMs etc.
I rooted my desire and installed ROM Manager and Clockwork Mod Recovery
and i made a backup of the system and all apps on my sd card.
I read that i have to partitione my sd card. But I donĀ“t know what it is etc..
Now i want to install MIUI, when its possible the German version.
I heard from a friend that this ROM is nice and take not so much battery as the HTC Sense Rom..
Please can everybody help me and give me instructions what i have to do.
Thanks a lot , Jakob
Hmm mate , all these answers are easily available if u search
but anyways since am replying may as well answer ur queries
use gparted (search and download) and format ur sd card get an ext4 partition if u want more space for apps ( install d2ext ord2sd miui rom)
download the required zip file , place it on ur sd card
boot into recovery and navigate to the location of ur rom and flash it using install from sd option ( although do a factory reset of ur phone and wipe other stuff as cache and all)
all the above options wud be available in recovery
in case u have a doubt search here in the forum or PM me
Use the guide posted here..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016084
Follow the instructions to partition your sd card using GParted. It's not that difficult (there's a video you can follow).
Read the instructions fully on how to flash the ROM of your choice and then follow.
I flashed MIUI XJ on my friends desire yesterday and have to say it looks like a nice ROM. I'm almost tempted to ditch my GingerVillain for it...
God luck.
Thank you !!
But I dont even know where i can find the ROM file to download..
and i have no idea which version i should take.
A friend of mine told me, that i should download ROM Manager with ClockworkMod Recovery and make a backup..
I did this. Can I install the ROM with this program on my desire (Android 2.2), too or must it be donewith an programm on the PC ?
i'm sure u can dl the rom from here
Go to miui thread here on xda and follow installation instructions written there.
TouchPaled from Oxygen with Transparent XDA App
Go to miui-germany.de for the German version of MIUI.

Thank you work perfectly

[Q] How to update Gio stock 2.3.3 to CM9?

Hello forum-members!
I have a question I really want to ask: How can I update my Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660 from stock 2.3.3 to CyanogenMod 9.0.0?
With CM9, I mean the version for Gio, as found on this page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1414173
At the moment, my mobile is like this:
Firmware: stock 2.3.3
PDA: S5660XXKPS
PHONE: S5660XXKPA
CSC: S5660XENKP1
Rooted using the update.zip-methode, installed Titanium Backup
ClockWorkMod-based Recovery v5.0.2.6 installed (But I still have a problem with it, it says things like 'E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/command' and 'E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log', no idea if I have to fix this or not...)
So, how can I update this stock 2.3.3 to CM9? I only have a lot of experience with jailbreaking, but not with flashing ROMS and installing special Android tools, so a bit of step-by-step guide.
If you think updating to CM7 is better for me, since that's a more complete ROM, please say it, which CM7 ROM, and how it can be done
I hope someone is able to help me, as I would really like to use a nice ROM on my Gio
You should use cm7.2, its stable and fast..

Well, to be honest, I think I will flash CM9 on my Gio if a new version comes out.
But what if it turns out wrong, or when the ROM does not meet my expectations? Is there a easy way to return to the stock 2.3.3 firmware?

Yes, I already flashed a version of ClockWorkMod (px-CWM-v2.zip), but as I mentioned in my first post, I have a problem with it... Do you maybe know a solution? I heard something about ext4 or something like that to fix it?

Please, help me!
I installed CM9 beta 3 on my gio, after flashing the CWM-version phiexz posted here in this topic (http://www.mediafire.com/?3umwbz3gg6oo6c6). I did everything discribed in the topic of CM9 for Gio port.
Flash Special Clockworkod Recovery for CyanogenMod 9:
skip this step if you have special clockworkmod (CM7.1/CM7.2/GM9) installed on your phone
Download: px-CWM-v2.zip
Place it on root of your sdcard
reboot to recovery mode
install this cwm from recovery
I didn't have to do this first part, since I already had CWM installed on my Gio.
Flash Cyanogenmod 9:
Download and copy the latest CM9 ROM to SD Card
Reboot to Recovery Mode
Select Install zip from sd card
Select Choose zip from sd card
Select the new CM9 rom package
Select Yes - Install update
Wait till the Installation is finish
Now select Wipe data/factory reset
Confirm
Now reboot to phone.
Wait and enjoy CM9 on your Galaxy Gio
I did everything just as described here... AND I did not forget to select 'Wipe data/factory reset' as said in this short tutorial, so that's not the problem!

But after all this, it stucks on saying 'ANDROID'. If I turn off the phone, it automatically turns on again. I can still enter CWM Recovery, but if I click on 'restore backup' (because I made a backup of my stock ROM before flashing CM9), it says:
Code:
Checking MD5 sums...
Eresing boot before restore...
Restoring boot image...
Restoring system...
E:format_volume: format_rfs_device failed on /dev/block/stl12
Error while formatting /system!
My question now is:
Is there a way I can make CM9 work on my Gio (I prefer this one), restore my backup, or connect to Kies, so I can place a clean stock ROM on my Gio?
I hope someone can help me!

Note that cm9 is not in beta 3 but alpha status.
You can flash cm7, same instructions as cm9, much more stable.
Try installing a different version of CWM and restore
Or read tutorials how to use ODIN and flash stock rom

Thank you for your reply!
I was already planning to flash CM7 now, but there was only one thing I was still wondering about.
The Cyanogenmod 7 instructions topic says:
NOTE:
It's not automatically wipe your data. if you want to install fresh rom, you must wipe data before install it!
If you from stock / custom rom based on rfs filesystem, u must flash ext4-formatter.zip before flash CyanogenMod. link & instruction can fount on This Thread. otherwise you'll stuck on android logo because it cant mount rfs filesystem!
have problem after upgrade from earlier cyanogenMod? you should wipe your data!!

Will the part (here marked in red) still work? And, if so; how to use this? I mean: since my main system is not booting anymore...
Oh, wait!
I flashed the file ext4-formatter.zip and afterwards, I tried flashing CM9 again, and it worked!

Cm9 booted??? All firmware is on sammobile.net , also kies firmwares, but the site is not connected to samsung
By the way if you used ext4 formatter zip you use an version of cwm wich has been removed back to construction to bugs, so you should use another one, in the same thread

[Q] How to uninstall cyanogen mod 9 on Samsung W i8150 ??

Hi, recently I flashed CM9(beta4) to my Samsung W but I found that not everything are working fine to this smart phone. So its a noob Question : How to uninstall this CM9 from my Samsung W??
Did you create a (nandroid) backup copy of your factory installed ROM? If you did, it's as simple as wiping your current ROM and re installing your "stock" ROM.
Sent from my CM10 powered Wonder with Tapatalk 2....it's all good....
You could just flash from odin or there is a thread in the developers section about flashing stock from CWM or you could choose a GB Rom and flash it as we have really good ones (if you want the IOS look try JOY OS Rom).
Press Thanks If I Helped
1st download the rom that u wanna use instead of cm9
2nd wiping the cm9 rom will include going to CWM recovery then wiping system, data, cache and dalvike cache (and its preferred to wipe sdcard too)
3rd ull have to be ready with another rom to flash, if u wanna flash a custom rom then simply flash it using CWM the same as u did with cm9, if u wanna flash the stock rom then use odin (u have the method in another thread)
press thanks if i help you

Read this - its really easy to do.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614827
When you choose to to flash the recovery, I would suggest using TRWP Recovery.
Also have a Rom and Gapps ready to flash after you root and flash your recovery, just in case you boot loop.
Enjoy :highfive:
